More ACORN Document Dumps

The U.S. government never sleeps but apparently neither does BigGovernment:

“ACORN’s San Diego office isn’t the only place its been careless with sensitive documents. Late last year, ACORN abandoned an office in Oklahoma. In its haste to vacate the office–and skip out on the landlord’s claim of back-rent–ACORN abandoned piles of documents, as well as a computer.”

Among the recovered documents is a copy of ACORN’s “Oklahoma Power Plan,” a copy of which is available at the link. Here’s a summary by Publius who posts at BigGovernment:

“The “Power Plan” is a very interesting document. First, it provides another example for how ACORN’s political operation thinks strategically. The plan is focused on impacting state legislative races to create momentum and a power base to effect political races next year.

The second interesting feature of the document is how overtly partisan it is. At the beginning of the document, ACORN makes clear its goal is to put the Democrats in charge of the state Legislature.”

Meanwhile, the San Diego documents reportedly included many personal credit histories that were not redacted. This Publius post provides redacted examples and discusses the criminal penalties that might apply.

  1. There are criminal penalties that might apply?

Well hell, what are we waiting for? Let’s get it on! Chop chop!

  2. More proof of what we already know, courtesy of the Department of Redundancy Dept. And I really don’t mean to sound so snarky about it; mainly just frustrated at how the MSM overlooks this potential criminal conspiracy as much as they do.

Could it be because of the obvious “aiding and abetting” that they have conducted?

  4. Isn’t it amazing, Drew, that nobody else has picked up the ball and ran with doing undercover investigations of ACORN? Apparently, Breitbart is doing such a terrific & thorough job, there is no room for Brian Ross or any other “investigative journalist” to do their own work on this story.

  5. So much for the “just trying to hep po folks keep their homes” crap. As if we didn’t alredy know.

  6. The MSM is studiously avoiding the GW emails, the disassembling of ACORN, and the firing of the IG – so what on earth is it that they are paying attention to, because as more and more of these messy annoyances break, the more their journalistic hands will be forced to actually report on them. I am curious to see exactly what the tipping point will be….

  7. …well, they are really busy slamming the Palin Express.

  8. Oh. Yeah. I forgot about that really pressing issue, AD-RtR/OS!. I forgot what the priorities are…silly me.

OMG….I mean OHH MYYYY GOOOODDDDD, you mean ACORN wouldn’t trust Republicans to aid their agenda to help low income citizens? How dare they! I mean, it’s not like the entire wingnut blogosphere and half the halfwit Republicans in Congress have declared opposing ACORN itself is their hugely on their radar. It ‘s just so ridiculous.

It’s not like, let’s say, a huge website like Breitbart’s anti-Hollywood shack would stop decrying boobies in movies and started attacking a underclass service organization full time or something….

How could they place their hopes on Democrats in Oklahoma City….just weird that the Oklahoma Republican party is not seen as friendly to an organization registering minority voters and representing Latino immigrants…

Why would ACORN do such a thing?

Next from Publius: the Heritage Foundation favors Republicans!

  11. The point timber-head, is that ACORN is allegedly non-partisan according to their tax-docs, and to advocate the advancement of “progressive” positions and pols would be a violation of just another of those pesky little laws that they seem to have no problem overlooking; you know, like voter registration, voter fraud, and (well) fraud, when it pertains to the founding family of ACORN.

  12. timb, I think the problem is that ACORN gets federal money to help the Dems.

  13. ACORN doesn’t even know what biggovernment has! If they get their documents back, they can make up lies that jive with what Breitbart can prove.

What’s sad is that there is no law enforcement sweeping in to take the documents and investigate ACORN. Law enforcement leadership like Eric Holder, our old media, and ACORN are all trying to keep the money flowing from the people to their pockets.

I hope a legal argument can be made that ACORN was clearly trying to hide evidence, and want this back so they can commit more fraud. I’m not optimistic about that.

  14. Good job, timmah! In one fell swoop you accused Republicans of being racist AND stereotyped minorities as being liberal.

Okay, you’ve done your job for today. Time to lay down and chew your cookie now.

  17. I saw this earlier and decided someone ought to parse this ingenious strategy for turning the political tide in my home state:

…of its 3.5 million residents, only 1.1 million live in the three biggest cities. The fourth biggest, Lawton, has a population of only 90,000, meaning that in order to have membership in areas that represent a majority of the population, we would have to organize in numerous small cities of 50-80,000 residents.
(Let’s see now, those “numerous cities” that fall into that population range would be Broken Arrow, Edmond, Midwest City, uh, Broken Arrow, uh, Edmond, uh…..)

In other words, by taking credit for controlling some swing seats that return state senate power to progressives in 2008 and the state house to progressives in 2010, ACORN may not have members in a majority of districts, but we will be seen as the force that is making Oklahoma a progressive state in the way that it was 100 years ago.
(Of course considering that this strategy sheet was written sometime in 2007 and Oklahoma didn’t become a state until November 16, 1907, it might take some doing to make it as “progressive” as it was back then.)

Issue Agenda to Propel ACORN’s Growth

    Foreclosure Crisis (2007)

    Children’s Healthcare (2008-10)

    Minimum Wage (2010)

(Dangit! Left out the most important economic issue, increasing tourism by helping to smuggle in all those teenage prostitutes from South America.)
