White House Guest List

Several commenters have mentioned visitors listed on the recently released White House guest list or, as the White House describes it, “Transparency like you’ve never seen it before.”

There are some interesting names, including celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney, lobbyists, banking and business CEOs, government officials, famous names like Bill Gates and George Soros, and the most frequent visitor, SEIU chief Andy Stern. There also seem to be a few — Bill Ayers, Michael Moore, Jeremiah Wright, and Angela Davis — who have the same names but aren’t the people some might guess.

The Washington Times reports the Obama Administration, like its predecessors, is not above exchanging access for money but there’s no word on what Americans really want to know: Who have the Obamas invited to stay overnight at the White House?

  1. “Bill Ayers, Michael Moore, Jeremiah Wright, and Angela Davis” – I’ve read at a couple of other places that these are just “coincidental” names. Why does it feel like the administration is dangling bait?

    I’m a cynical, cynical woman.

  2. Quite a pretty little “coincidence” they got going on there in Obama’s crib. 2 guys named Bill Ayres and 2 other guys named Jeremiah Wright, and all 4 of them hobnobbing around with our President, 2 before and 2 after the election.

That’s just got to be a little bit unusual, I wonder what the odds are for such a thing. It also strikes me the coincidence must have been noticed by Obama’s staff. Someone in the White House must have noticed and called attention to the potentially embarrassing situation.

Both the pre-election Ayres and Wright were the source of great consternation to candidate Obama. In order to get elected he had to wash his hands of Ayres, the bloodthirsty rich boy terrorist, and Wright, the racist bigot.

Now to have 2 completely different guys with the very same names invited to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, surely would have been noticed and discussed, maybe even with the Chief of Staff, or at least with someone smart enough to see a potential problem, maybe there’s a memo on the issue, if so it sure will come in handy over the next few days. If so, I’m surprised it wasn’t released along with the scary names.

  4. Audacity – Just ran my name through that site and found that there are fewer than 114 persons in the US with my last name. And 15 of them are in my immediate family.

There are 1 (or fewer) persons with my exact name, which was also my grandfathers, before he passed in 2005.

I think they’ve read “The Purloined Letter” … Now that they’ve released their “voluntary” list, Obama and company are making reporters name the people they’re interested in, and the administration will then say whether those people have visited the White House. They seem to take a perverse, smug delight in playing games with people’s heads. What do you want to bet that no reporter will think to ask, “Did the other Bill Ayers, the one who is a professor of education in Chicago, also visit the White House?”

  6. He has met with Kim Gandy approximately 15 more times than the Republican leadership.

  7. The Hungarian muppet-master being welcomed into the White House is kind of unseemly. At least Barcky stays bought.

  8. If somebody questions Obama on the people visiting the White House, he’ll pull a “I have much more important things to worry about.” This is a ploy to detract from healthcare, because they just released it now after months of people asking for it…besides how do we even know this is accurate? Does anybody truly believe the one?
