Lefty Bloggers: OMIGOD THE REPUBLICANS SAID HITLER LIKES PELOSI!!!!!!!!!11!!!1!

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 6:30 pm

With the release of this admittedly not-so-clever clip from the RNCC, humorless liberals are tut-tutting:

Across the blogosphere, Serious Leftists are knitting their eyebrows together and clucking their tongues.

There are dozens of these mock-Hitler clips out there, all using the same scene with different themes and translations. (Many far funnier than this one, but that’s a different issue.)

I thought the left was aware of all internet traditions.

If the criticism is that the clip isn’t funny, then it’s a fair cop.

But if the criticism is that OMIGOD THEY SAID HITLER LIKES DEMOCRATS!!!!!11!!!1!! . . . then please. Get over it.

UPDATE: This one is a little better:

  1. The Xbox Live version of that clip is a personal favorite…

  2. Well, he only likes them when they’re acting as ruthless as he would –
which pretty much limits it to the Cmte Chairs and leadership.
The rest are sheep, just like the Repubs, and will end up in the camps.

  3. Um. Didn’t we just hear how the Republicans were like the Taliban?

    But that’s different, of course.

  4. It’s an old clip and I’ve seen a few versions that were pretty funny. One in particular.

Nonetheless, I predict that by Friday, this will be the highlight of the evening news and weekend talk shows.

I could be wrong, and if I am, I don’t care. Because if it comes true, it just reinforces my opinion of the lame traditional media. If it doesn’t, meh.

  5. Well, AD beat me to it…but yeah, I think Hitler would really dig the power hunger and roll over anybody and everything tactics that the Dems have employed since … well, my lifetime anyway.

  6. Brings back memories of that Gemeral Betrayus ad by the MoveOn wing of the Democrat party.

With Democrat politicians actually posting serious stuff at hate filled sites like dailykos and Puffington Host, I don’t worry much about stuff like this that is obviously meant as humor.

The lefty sites get their daily talking points directly from the White House and today the White House blog cited a post from TPMDC as support for its attack on the PwC health care study, so the relationship obviously flows both ways.

The media and blogs have been busy circulating fabricated racist quotes by Rush Limbaugh in an effort to derail his bid to buy an NFL and probably laughing about that effort.

Hey, how many feminists does it take to screw in a light bulb?

    imdw are you there?

  7. The RNCC put this out?

It’s stupid, politically tone-deaf, unfunny, and crummy overall. The entire humor of these is that you’re dealing with something trivial and non-functional, like Vista or the Oakland Raiders. Using it on health care is bound to get critics of the Hitler-Democrats tie-in. Maybe the criticisms are overboard, but they’re completely predictable and I’m uncertain they’re wholly meritless.

Look, if some blogger did this, I wouldn’t care. But the RNCC? Gee, I wonder why the Republicans control, erm, nothing now. Jeezum crow, this is terrible.

  8. See…. this video (which is lame and uncreative) is obviously satirical. No one really thinks it’s an effort to claim that Hitler liked Pelosi.

But when the DNC showed Bush pushing a lady in a wheelchair down a flight of stairs, or Moveon called Petraeus ‘Betray Us’, or the DNC called all Republicans ‘terrorists throwing their lot in with the taliban’, they were not joking. That’s much more serious than any lame joke with hitler in it.

Fact is, the GOP is hopeless and most Republicans don’t care. They don’t want some master political party. They just want a government with less power, less intrusion, and less expense. the GOP will never be as well polished, funded, or lucrative as the DNC. Tom Delay tried to change that and it exploded.

So we are left with lame jokes and the DNC manufacturing outrage. But the Republicans rarely vote for Republicans… they generally are voting for limitations on government or they are delusional and voting for social ideas.

  9. I’t s played out meme.

  10. My favorite was one of the first, when Hitler is told that the Dallas Cowboys had lost in the playoffs.

It was kind of a lame attempt by the GOP, but I think Dustin (9:55 pm) makes a great point that the Dems did stuff almost as bad, but without their tongue planted firmly in cheek.

  11. Yeah, those damn Republicans would be so much better at politics if they didn’t spend all their working hours making money, and their free time at the range.

    AD - RtR/OS! (48d3c8)

  12. AD, that was sexist. Women don’t need to stand in front of the stove on their free time.

    John Hitchcock (3fd153)

  13. The Michael-Jackson-has-died clip is pretty good, too. Most of these clips are being pulled down, though.

    Kevin Murphy (3c3db0)

  14. oh man remember back when some user-generated content got on move-on’s site with hitler / bush images? The shitstorm. Man were we so naive in our youth.
