Stupid Criminals, 2009 Edition

Our friend Gazzer brings us a thoroughly modern 2009 version of Stupid Criminals. Meanwhile, this knife-wielding purse thief found an old-fashioned way to get caught:
“Police say 24-year-old Gregorio Isarr-Vasquez approached two women, displayed a knife, and tried to take both of the victim’s purses. Isarr-Vasquez also punched both women in the face and threw a child to the ground during the hold-up.
A witness who saw the crime tackled Isarr-Vasquez to the ground and held him until police arrived. He is facing two counts of Aggravated Robbery, one count of Aggravated Assault and one count of Injury to a child.”
Don’t mess with Texas women and children.

Generally I think of a stupid criminal one who mugs his victim in front of a police station, or leaves his wallet at the scene of the crime, or cashes a check into his bank account before holding up the bank.
While this sounds like a particularly brutal assault, and it was fortunate that someone came to the aid of the women, I don’t catch the “stupid” angle.
aunursa (0e5924) — 9/28/2009 @ 4:32 pmIt’s stupid to assault women and a child in a public place in Texas. Of course, it’s wrong to do that anywhere and hopefully people would come to their defense in every community, but I think it’s especially stupid to do it in a small Texas community.

I agree with you on a lot of things but especially about that.

Back in 1990, in Orange, CA, my then pregnant wife and 2 daughters were in a Cloth World store at the checkout. 2 Thugs came in and grabbed my wife and the clerk who only started the job a day or two before. They proceeded to put knives to the adult women’s throats demanding that the clerk open the drawer. When the clerk totally freaked and couldn’t open the drawer, that thug put the knife to her crotch.
Somewhere along the line the thugs got tipped off that some other person managed to get to the back to call the police (who did not get there in time) so to escape they threw the adults on the ground, and pushed 9 month old girl in a stroller on to the 6 year old daughter.
They were never caught.
If I EVER got proof of who these {Expletives Deleted} were, damn straight I’d empty full clips into them.
