Satellite Photo of the Day

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 10:55 pm

Hell, I already have a Photo of the Day and Image of the Day. But you have to admit this is pretty cool. It’s the Station Fire from space — with numerous other prominent Southern California landmarks, like the Channel Islands and the Salton Sea:

  1. Looking at this image, I’d guess you and you wife are seeing both SB and San Nicolas as one on hazy days and sometimes being able to read that SB is a little closer when it is clearer.
One of my favorite views is at night watching the urchin divers put the lights on and work through the night.

  2. it’s a helluva clear day when yo can see that far north from PV…..

/not that i live there, so Pat can correct me, but seeing the other islands from PV is a fairly unusual experience, give the usually (realitively) cold water and warm land.

many days it’s hard to see SC……might as well be Hawaii then.

  3. What I noticed was the white-gray streaks leading east from the Sand Gabriel Mountains: wildfire smoke?

  4. As I look at the satellite photo, I think I see the problem: y’all don’t have anything green down there!
