The CBO and the Cost of ObamaCare

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air highlights a CityJournal article by Dr. Stephen T. Parente of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. Parente claims the Congressional Budget Office’s analysis of Obama’s health care reform understates its cost by over $1T — more than double the CBO’s estimate. Morrissey concludes that someone should talk to Director Douglas Elmendorf and tell him that the CBO should “check its models once again.”

Maybe someone already did … which could explain why the CBO’s estimate was based on older data and may be understated.

  1. We’re not talking about a little rounding error here. We’re talking $1,000,000,000,000.00. The CBO used models from 2000 and 2001. The Minnesota Group used models from 2006. Could the CBO be that stupid? Not!

Barry is more and more becomming like that oh so charming little Austrian dictator who screwed the world up more than anyone else in the 20th century, only Barry’s shooting for the 21st century title. Did you see the Obamacare Poster? http://pamibe.com/2009/08/obamacare-poster/

More and more we are seeing outward signs and actions that confirm Obama is a Liberal Fascist. Instead of Brownshirts, we have Purple Shirts (SEIU in St. Louis & Tampa). His expressed game plan is to either silence critics or drown them out. “Hit them back twice as hard.”

He’s already taken over the Banking industry and the automobile industry. With “Cap and Tax” he’s taking over the energy industry – he already has the schools, universities, and mainstream media outlets. Next he’ll take the Healthcare system which is another 1/6th of our entire economy. WTF is left?

    We’re screwed!

  2. I have a post up on the troubles of the French system, which I have advocated as a model. From the recent WSJ article, it looks as though the French may have seen a big shift into CMU, the taxpayer funded plan. If so, that might portend a similar shift away from self-funded plans and toward toward the cheaper tax-payer subsidized plans. This sort of thing is just not sustainable. It does seem to get votes, though.

  3. If you want instruction on how to dot the I in SEIU, I have a suggestion but I best not give it here because it might be viewed by some as a call to violence. I know not how many of these union thugs there are. I know this, if they want violence the will get violence. I just hope they are ready for it. Once identified they can be dealth with singlely or in small groups.
