4. I’m kinda embarrassed to admit it, given the nature of this thread and it’s subject, but I did wonder (fleetingly) whether or not Jackson might’ve faked his own death.

   Obviously, I don’t think that’s the case, but the fact that he was millions of dollars in debt and used to appearance altering cosmetic surgery struck me as significant at the time.

   I will take this moment to issue a statement of support for your position in this matter.

   As for Jackson ‘faking’ it – his new tour was pre-sold out, and he stood quite a chance to put a measurable dent in, if not completely erase his outstanding debt. There are people who would pay to see him even though they did not like him. To walk away from an opportunity to exit the stage on top again is not even in the realm of possibility for someone that obsessed with self image.

   As repugnant as Jackson became to some of us over the past years, his musical and performing genius and creativity are undeniable. And when you think about it, he was no more sick or repugnant than most of the politicians we vote for. Jackson certainly embodied the breadth of human nature, the beautiful and the ugly.

18. I hate to defend Perez Hilton, the Bob Fisk of “celebrity journalism”, but lots of people thought MJ was faking illness. In particular, trying to get his concert run cut from 50 shows to 10. And who’s to say at this point that his death was due to cardiac illness?

    Personally, I think MJ really was trying – trying too hard to do something that he was in no condition to do.
