Sarah Palin: “We Told Ya So”

Filed under: Politics — DRJ @ 4:45 pm

[Guest post by DRJ]

Sean Hannity interviews Sarah Palin:

PALIN: “America is digging a deeper hole and how are we paying for this government largesse. We’re borrowing. We’re borrowing from China and we consider that now we own sixty percent of GENERAL MOTORS – or the U.S. government does… But who is the U.S. government becoming more indebted to? It’s China. So that leads you to have to ask who is really going to own our car industry than in America.”

HANNITY: You know but it goes back – It does go back a little to the campaign. I mean, ‘spread the wealth, patriotic duty…’

PALIN: Kind of a ‘we told ya so’.”

Palin also expressed disappointment in the country’s direction and acknowledged America is headed for socialism:

HANNITY: Socialism?

PALIN: “Well, that is where we are headed. That is where we have to be blunt enough and candid enough and honest enough with Americans to let them know that if we keep going down these roads… nationalizing many of our services, our projects, our businesses, yes that is where we would head. And that is why Americans have to be paying attention. And we have to have our voices heard. And ultimately it need to be our will, the American people’s will imposed on Washington, instead of the other way around.”

Palin. The People’s Governor.

  1. We sure dodged a bullet with Palin. Heh.

  2. Expect Palin’s popularity to rise as the failures of President God become more widely known.

    Brother Bradley J. Fikes, C.O.R., (53570b)

  3. Her timing is good:

“Voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on six out of 10 key issues, including the top issue of the economy.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 45% now trust the GOP more to handle economic issues, while 39% trust Democrats more.”

And it’s only been 138 days.

  4. Well, she’s the only reason I gave any $$ to the McCain campaign and I still like her. You betcha!

  5. Thing is, this is exactly what a lot of the Obama supporters wanted all along.

The Dana who reads our friends on the left (474dfc)

  6. The more I watch, the more I suspect that, useful idiots notwithstanding, the current Dem strategy is not stupid, merely criminal; they are taking over huge portions of the economy, with the spoils going to the politically connected, and they clearly intend to to (hyper?) inflate away the debt.

Come the endgame in their plan, then, they’ll control half or more of your economy, free and clear. Sure, the country and the people get screwed over, but by then the heist is a done deal.

They are toppling your economy in order to loot it.

  7. Sarah Palin is the Republican equivalent of Lindsay Lohan.

    David Ehrenstein (b88f1c)

They probably think they have effectively demonized her and slandered her enough that she is a national joke. Whether that is true or not remains to be seen.

    Mr. Pink (b0e177)

  9. Dana:

Thing is, this is exactly what a lot of the Obama supporters wanted all along.

When you say “this,” are you referring to Palin or socialism?

    DRJ (180b67)

  10. Now we’ll wait for the inevitable backlash of hillbilly, gun – toting, elk – killing, white trash bimbo that the Left so loves to lead their measured responses with, regarding anything relating to Palin.

    Dmac (f7884d)

  11. Both, I suspect, DRJ. They have a compliant media that will continue to paint her as some inbred snow-billy with, gasp, a daughter that got pregnant out of wedlock. Those God-bothering snow-billies cannot be tolerated. She doesn’t even know the name of books or magazines!!!! And Palin is a c*nt. You know, exactly what we have come to expect from the MSM.

All the while, Teh One keeps taking advantage of a crisis.

    JD (848a9f)

  12. Nice to see we’re borrowing $100 bil from the Chinese so we can loan it to the IMF, so they can default on it and we can default on our Chinese debt.

Oh wait. We’re not allowed to default. Sounds like an awesome deal to me. No wonder smart guys like Obama are so excited about it.

    HatlessHessian (cca288)

  13. Thank you, Sarah.

Couldn’t have done it without you.

    poon (093c46)

  14. This “poon” is such a tool. I mean, really.

    Eric Blair (0b61b2)

  15. On the upside, if and when the attacks come, Palin won’t be surprised or caught unaware of how ugly it can get. There’s a plus to already having every corner of your life exposed and every actual fact, tweaked to fit the narrative. She’ll survive it nicely and be the stronger for it.

Seriously, what can be said about her that hasn’t already be thrown at her repeatedly? And nothing really stuck.

    Dana (aedf1d)

  16. Dana, everything stuck to those that were just getting the MSM version. And there really won’t be much to do about that next time, either.

Even then, Palin had several chances to defend herself and establish her credentials, and failed to do so. She had at lest two opportunities (“Article I is about the Executive” and “The US drove Hezbollah out of Lebanon”) to destroy Biden in her debate and instead played defense.

Sorry, I like her gut instincts and determination, but I don’t see her as a viable candidate for President. Make a fine Senator, though. Let the MSM try to get Alaskans to hate Alaska.

    Kevin Murphy (805c5b)

  17. […] work projects that will be unfunded once the TARP money is squandered.  Palin reminds us of this at Patterico’s.  That sound you just heard was the ripping sound of thousands of Obama/Biden 08 bumper stickers […]

Gazzer’s Gabfest » Are the wheels beginning to come off? (b98ad6)

  18. I don’t think she’ll ever get another chance to run for the top job either, but it sure would be a hoot if she ran again, just to see the MSM’s knickers in a Gordian knot once again.

    Dmac (f7884d)

  19. Eric, what else would you expect from a commenter called “poon?”

    Dmac (f7884d)

  20. HELLO MICHAEL STEEL. HELLO.ANYBODY HOME.

    mike191 (411342)

  21. Question, y’all:
Is Sarah following the Reagan ’77 model, or at least trying to?
That wouldn’t be a bad model to follow.

    bob (466a1d)

  22. Kevin @ 5:54 p.m.,

I’m not even referring to her running for President, mostly an observation that she no matter what the future holds as far as public life goes, she is far less vulnerable by the fact that every closet seems to have been opened, examined, and remade to be something worse than what the realities were, and still the public loved her. It had to be extremely tough but she seems to have come out of it more solid and sure of herself as a woman and as a politician. There couldn’t have been a more rigorous boot camp for a pol looking (possibly) to move up the ranks.

I agree she did have opportunities but I also think the campaign was so mired in power struggles, was a non-cohesive mess, as well as being so hampered by coaching and reining in that the opportunities were missed (perhaps as well as ignorance). Nonetheless, people will believe what they want but the worse our country turns under the rule of Obama, the better and more palatable her positions and she herself will appear in comparison.

    Dana (aedf1d)

  23. I think Palin is following the Michael Dukakis mode, Bob.

  31. Mary Reilly never fails to bring the incoherence. Why are the Leftists so full of hate?

    JD (848a9f)

  32. When even a respectable percentage of Europeans, based on their voting over the weekend in a conservative direction, displayed a bit more common sense than a majority of Americans did last November, that’s another hint of “I told ya so.”

Oh, well, I recall a succession of various polls during the past few years indicating large numbers of people in the US thought the country was moving in the wrong direction, even when the economy still was booming. So I guess the Banana Republic-ization of the US now sort of fits the national mood, at least as it was pre-BO—and those initials of the current occupant of the White House are somehow quite appropriate.

I would bet Sarah would be more willing to defend her country, if need be, with weaponry than Mike Dukakis could ever possibly be.
Dukakis would climb in the tank and say “Save me! Save me!”

  42. Many, many people–including my mom and me–donated to a political campaign for the first time because of Sarah Palin.

She gave us someone to vote for.

I will welcome the chance to do so again–even better if she’s at the top of the ticket.

    goddessoftheclassroom (6cbd74)

  43. Well MY mother said Palin should stay home and take care of her children and that she would never vote for her.
Why would someone with a newborn downs baby and an unwed pregnant teenage highschool dropout daughter want to run for VP when she couldn’t even articulate what newspapers she read?
Pig-ignorant ambition is the only thing I can think of.

    wheeler's cat (60a6ff)

  44. Well, her teenaged daughter has had the baby and graduated from high school. Trig will be 4 years old.

Is it ok with your mom for Sarah to run then?

  45. wheeler’s cat continues to show the classiness of the left.

    Steverino (69d941)

  46. Both my daughters HAD to return to work when their babies were six weeks old. One was in the military and had no other choice. So what’s wrong with working moms, Wheeler?

And what does her pregnant daughter have to do with it? Not like Mommy has to stay home to take care of her. Your ignorance is breathtaking!

    PatAZ (9d1bb3)

  47. Powerful women throughout history have found ways to to compete, and contribute even as they raise children.
Her husband helps out a lot… but how sexist is your mom.
    Jeez.
Ask her if Barack is a crappy dad because he isn’t going to be there for his children because of how busy he is. Ask any psychologist about the role of a father in the lives of girls.
Pollitics are hard on families, but we shouldn’t limit our leaders to being a certain type of family… but we should support all the families of our leadership not tear them down.
The people who are still trying to tear apart Palin’s family are bad people at the level of their shriveled soul. If there is an afterlife, hopefully, there is a special heap of fire ants for their butt to sit on

    SteveG (c99c5c)

  48. Its fine with my mom if Palin runs.
She just will never vote for her.
And neither will 66% of independents.
My mom also told me first impressions count, like Maya Angelou said….

When someone shows you who they are ……believe them.

Something tells me your mother would never vote for a Republican, even if Satan himself were on the Democratic ticket.

    Steverino (69d941)

  52. Steverino, there you go with your antiquated militaristic language. “Satan” is no longer an approved term. “The Other Entity” or “Co-Equal Supernatural Being” is preferred.

Look for Zinn’s new book on the subject.

It is going to mad entertaining watching the GOP base fight with the GOP wideboiz for the next two years or so over Palin.
    I told yah so, didn’t I jd?
I said Palin would split the party right along the intellectual faultline.
    And she did.
On one side, you have the leadership and the intelligentsia that know she can’t win……on the other…the people that aren’t smart enough to see that.

    wheeler's cat (60a6ff)

  56. Nice to know Bad Poetry Lady is so much…smarter…than everyone else!

    Eric Blair (5a226d)

  57. Stupid comment re Dukakis and Palin defending their country above. But if it came to that, Dukais might stab somebody with a letter opener, while Palin would be dropping folks with head shots at 500 yards.

One thing I did notice about Ms. Palin. In the midst of all the you betcha’s and ya knows, she was able to talk in complete sentences without the aid of a teleprompter. And she recognizes male moose shit when she sees it. That’s more than can be said for the Jug Eared Messiah.

  58. Sarah Palin is the Republican equivalent of Lindsay Lohan.

    Comment by David Ehrenstein — 6/8/2009 @ 5:08 pm

I think this is beneath your intellect. I’ve seen much better from you in the past, without the ad hominem attack. How exactly is Sarah Palin equivalent to Lindsay Lohan? Is there drug use, is she without a college degree? What is wrong with the substance of Governor Palin statements? Could it be that you simply disagree with Sarah Palin politically?

There’s an old proverb that I take to heart with my personal finances. Maybe, just maybe this is something our government should follow.

Steady plodding, leads to prosperity. Hasty speculation, leads to poverty.

I believe that our Senators and Congressmen shouldn’t vote on a bill because of urgency, but should take time to determine if it is really in our great country’s best interest.

    Tanny O'Haley (83a3bb)

  59. ToH: Mr. Ehrenstein is all about the snark, the thoughtless quip. You are right about his talent, but he gets very crude and nasty toward those with whom he disagrees—all the while criticizing others for not accepting with respect his own world view.

There is a reason that he is moderated here. If you don’t believe me, go peruse his website. There is good writing there, as well as some profoundly mean-spirited material.

    The latter is a shame.

    Sigh.

  64. It always seemed to me one of two things:

    1. Mr. Obama agreed with all the extreme statements.

    or

    2. Mr. Obama simply sat there to “use” the connections that Wright provided in the local community to help himself politically.

Neither reflected (or reflects) well on him.

But I am a bitter clinger, I guess.

    Eric Blair (0b61b2)

Trig is already evidently smarter than you and your mom combined, indeed smarter than your average leftist. Her daughter isn’t on welfare like a typical democrat and unlike TOTUS (whose transcripts no one has ever seen) she may not be a college graduate but already she has demonstrated a far more practical learning and wisdom needed for governance than Obama bin Biden. Just when I believe its time to abolish abortion a lefty like you comes out of the dung pile; better hold off on that for a little longer. As Obama he is not only pig-ignorant on everything from economics to history but constitutional law as well but its obvious he is now in full conscious contact with his inner fascist.
