Barack Obama, Muslim-American

Filed under: Obama — DRJ @ 7:11 pm

[Guest post by DRJ]

Or as Jake Tapper says, “the emergence of President Obama’s Muslim roots”:

“The other day we heard a comment from a White House aide that never would have been uttered during the primaries or general election campaign.

During a conference call in preparation for President Obama’s trip to Cairo, Egypt, where he will address the Muslim world, deputy National Security Adviser for Strategic Communications Denis McDonough said “the President himself experienced Islam on three continents before he was able to — or before he’s been able to visit, really, the heart of the Islamic world — you know, growing up in Indonesia, having a Muslim father — obviously Muslim Americans (are) a key part of Illinois and Chicago.”

What a difference an election makes.

  1. The founder of Islam, Mohammed, was kind of a thug, if you will, happily and nonchalantly assassinating his enemies, sort of a more non-secular version of Sadaam Hussein. And so for Obama — who has never displayed a gift for judging the character of people correctly and reliably (Hi, Jeremiah Wright! Hi, Bill Ayers! Hi, rowdy inner-city community of Chicago!) — to now be cozying up to his Islamic roots seems quite fitting, quite appropriate.

  2. Hmm, is Teh One possibly guilty of apostasy?

Born of a Muslim father: Check!

Educated in Muslim countries in Muslim schools: Check!!

Openly rejected Islam by publicly declaring that he is a Christian: Check!!!

    Methinks possibly he is…

Now THAT should win the hearts-n-minds Crusade across the pond!

  3. It was frackin racist to note that prior to the election, now it is something that gives Teh One moral credibility in the Middle East.

  4. Isn’t that the reason it was racist? (because the American people and, especially the righties, distrust any Muslim they see on TV)

  5. Wait a minute! You are telling me that we went through a 15-month party primary and general election campaign without being told that the man who would become the leader of the Free World, who would control the largest armed forces and nuclear arsenal, and who would preside over the world’s largest economy was secretly a . . . Chicagoan?

timb – Were those recent CNN and Gallup polls if American attitudes toward muslims disaggregated by party timb? Do you have any support for your statement or is another of your famous asspulls?

  7. No, timmah. It was “racist” because that was the only thing the Left could squeal when confronted with the actual facts. The idea that a Muslim cannot be trusted exists only in your head.

  11. Isn’t that the reason it was racist?

I didn’t realize that a person’s theology is somehow connected to his or her racial background. Actually, to assume such a connection is a given, that it goes without saying, is…RACIST!!!

But, no matter. Merely another example of the words “racist” and “racism” becoming so overused and cheapened through the years, that they’ve lost most of their meaning and impact.

  12. you can’t be a good muslim and an American, since islam demands subservience to Allah over all other considerations.

therefore, if allah (piss be upon him), via the mouthpiece of whatever head pounding imam you are dumb enough to listen to tells you do something contrary to the laws or the good of the country, you do so anyway, or risk not going to paradise and getting your 72 goats….. what a lovely little religion.

  13. I believe Christianity requires you to put your faith in Christ (and God) above all other considerations. At least, that’s what I was taught in church. I also think it’s pretty rude to say “piss be on him” concerning a deity; I was not a fan of the Serrano “sculpture,” for example.

What I find amusing about the sudden emergence of Obama’s Muslim connection is the hypocrisy; the way it contrasts with the way he denied such a connection during the campaign.

  14. Obama needs to remember that he is not the President of the World! He is the President of of the United States of America and represents the Judaeochristian core values and beliefs of this Country for 233 years, as written in the United States Constitution.

I believe within 8-9 months that both Democrat and Republicans in this Country will join together and either force him to step down, or face impeachment proceedings.

The country im afraid has been fooled by a charade of deception.

  15. Barack is simply riding the crest of his hands-down win last year. Barack is not capable of taking on issues squarely – his decisions and actions are intended for popular appeal. Barack’s grasp of US economy and international affairs is, at best, scant, and worst, disoriented.

  17. I have watch this President and what I see is that for some unknown reason even the media is afraid of this guy. That is why he can get by with saying we are a Muslim America because no one is protesting in the streets for his spurn to Americans and the country built on believing in God not Mohammed. He can even get by with using tax payers money to take three plans with his wife, certain staff and body guards out of state on a personal DATE NIGHT (not business)wasting thousands of tax payers dollars. This from the man that nailed execs to the wall for using private jets for trip when there corps were failing? Well Mr President in case you havn’t noticed America is failing!

I seem to remember the same arguments against JFK because he was a Catholic. We Americans have the ability to put aside individual religious beliefs for governmental concerns. It’s unique to ths US.

  19. It is truly shocking that someone would downplay their associations with Islam when seeking the votes of a populace that large fears and dislikes Muslims but then emphasize them when trying to reach out to Muslim populations in other countries. Truly, truly shocking.

  21. We, here, are nothing. No matter what we say. There are people who will make sure this Magical Mau Mau will not sell out our country. Some of them came with the Mayflower. Others a little later.

    I hope.

I remember Christian teaching as being bifurcated:
God is God, and Caesar is Caesar.

Since, under Islamist thought, BHO could be considered an apostate, I would think that the security problems in Cairo had to be immense.
Even the Egyptians couldn’t prevent the Muslim Brotherhood from assassinating Anwar Sadat.

  23. I applaud President Obama for drawing on his familial connection to Islam in order to leverage better relations with the Muslim world, which constitutes nearly 1/4 of the world’s population. During a time when many young Muslims are being taught that America hates them and that it is at war with Islam, it seems more than smart to address that misconception. When you perceive someone as an enemy, you tend to objectify them and not see them as human beings.

The suggestion that President Obama has conceded anything to Mideastern states is ridiculous. The overt message in his speech was that the United States is going to kill Islamic extremists and that we will be justified in doing so. If Obama can get away with saying that and, at the same time, help a few Muslims hate us less, then he will have done his job to make Americans safer.

The conversations here about Obama being an “apostate” and that he is “selling out” the country are uninformed and absurd, and a few of them are clearly driven by racist attitudes. “Magical Mau Mau”? I can’t think of any comment which is less American.

  24. Obama is no apostate. He’s about as spiritual as a block of concrete. Somewhat more eloquent than one, when given preparation, a functioning teleprompter, and a vetted and captive audience. Chavez does much better, and is vastly more honest.

Yes, and never mind that unfortunate bowing down to the King a few months ago.

You need to read a bit more comprehensively.
I did not claim that BHO is an apostate, only that under current “Islamist” thought,
    he could be considered such.
It is not for an unbeliever to say, and the thinking of “Islamists” is so convoluted,
they could probably come to almost any conclusion.
I just point out that it is not unknown for persons in his circumstances to be denounced for being unfaithful to the Word – and the penalty for apostasy is death.

JRJ – Apart from listening to the translations of propaganda speeches Middleasteastern leaders, where are they learning this?

  28. “Magical Mau Mau”? I can’t think of any comment which is less American.

It’s certainly un-German. And un-Soviet. Un-Zimbambewan, and even un-Canadian an un-British these days. But I think not being able to call Mayor Daley’s favorite buttboy a “Magical Mau Mau” would be the most un-American.

  29. Why all the hiding of his true faith?Cuz America would have roasted him,and rightly so.We do not want someone brought up in the same schools and taught the same values as suicide bombers running our country.Look at the state were in now, before long we will all be wearing those robes they wear.I’m just happy to be able to say I was one of the few that DID NOT vote for Hussein.
