Arkansas Gunman Kills Soldier, Wounds Another (Updated)

[Guest post by DRJ]

Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, 23, of Little Rock, Arkansas, has been arrested in connection with yesterday’s shooting that killed one soldier and wounded another outside a military recruiting office. Based on a police interview of Muhammad in which he confessed to the shootings, Little Rock Police Chief Stuart Thomas said:

“Mr. Muhammad, previously known as [Carlos] Bledsoe, did convert to Islam sometime previously in his life. At this point it appears that he specifically targeted military personnel, but there doesn’t appear to be a wider conspiracy or, at this point in time, any indication that he’s a part of a larger group or a conspiracy to go further,” the chief said. “At this point, we believe that it’s associated with his disagreement over the military operations.”

Authorities said Muhammad “probably had political and religious motives for the attack.” He has been charged with capital murder and 16 counts of committing a terroristic act.

UPDATE: JihadWatch says Muhammad “recently returned from Yemen, where he studied jihad with an Islamic scholar there.”

  1. I guess they are trying to say he is not a terrorist …. just like Tiller’s murderer.

Come in threes, who is next?

    HeavenSent (1e97ff)

  2. A young man, all by himself, no terrorism involved. And we certainly can’t tell by his name what his beliefs are.

  3. Just an isolated incident. Nothing to see here. But you might try the right wing anti-abortion fanatic killing of the good Christian baby killer on the next isle. *sacasm off*

As Rush would say, “I know these people like every glorious inch of my naked body”.

  4. I blame Code Pink and Arianna Huffington.

  5. For accuracy, I’ve changed the title from “Arkansas Gunman Kills Military Recruiter” to “Arkansas Gunman Kills Soldier, Wounds Another.” Both victims are new soldiers who volunteered to help with local military recruiting, but reportedly they aren’t full-time recruiters.

  6. As was noted over at Big Lizards, if this was a political act, both of these soldiers should be awarded Purple Hearts.

  7. Olberdouchenozzle, MadCow, poon, and bored again christian have blood on their hands for promoting the ideas and hateful speech that led this previously peace loving Muslim boy, prolly an innocent goat herder just wanting to live his life, to go and kill the evil killbot American soldiers.

Unfortunately I don’t believe the Purple Heart is appropriate for the dead. Nor is it awarded for non-combat injuries. However, since the murderer is a jihadist coward, and we are (at least until BO started re-defining it) at war with these scum, I believe that the soldier deserves this honor. The terrorists have again brought the war to our homeland.

It’s time for our “savior” to man up and fulfill his campaign promise to go after these guys. Oh, wait, all he wants to do is talk to them. Never mind.

    PatriotRider (37b91c)

  9. I blame Bush.
    And Abu Ghraib.
    And Haditha.
But not the religion of peace or the people that promote the ideas and values that led this boy to commit murder.

  10. All those tucker carlson rants saying that recruiting was objectively just like hitler are finally coming home to roost.

  11. imdw has blood on his hands as well.

  13. From TV’s Andy Levy:

Because I’m slow: I’m sposed 2 blame social cons for Tiller’s murder, but I’m not sposed 2 blame Muslims for the AR murder, right?

    Scott Jacobs (90ff96)

  14. That is partially right, Scott. You are also supposed to blame talk radio, Fox, and Republicans for Tiller’s murder, but Olberdouche, MadCow, alfranken, and the loony left heaping piles of invective on the military over the last several years are not even remotely to blame, and in fact, it is prolly Bush’s fault because of the illegal warforbloodandoil, Abu Ghraib, Gitmo, and Haditha.

    JD (6675bb)

  15. You are right, Scott, but you have to remember the new mantra of the Left:

    (insert outraged hissy fit tone):

    That’s different™!!!!

If all pro-life organizations are partly responsible for Tilman’s death, then pro-Muslim organizations are responsible for this…except see the new motto above.

    Eric Blair (5a226d)

  16. “That is partially right, Scott. You are also supposed to blame talk radio, Fox, and Republicans for Tiller’s murder, but Olberdouche, MadCow, alfranken, and the loony left heaping piles of invective on the military ”

Exactly. The military is just like an abortionist is just like mao and hitler or something like that.

    imdw (6ef382)

  17. Sadly ironic that I called Tiller “Tilman.”

    Eric Blair (5a226d)

  18. Since these soldiers were targeted for who they were (the military,) isn’t this a hate crime?

    Louise B (aa0653)

  19. “Since these soldiers were targeted for who they were (the military,) isn’t this a hate crime?”

It depends whether the law makes being a member of the military a protected class. In which case the result of an army-navy fight might be quite serious.

    imdw (e66d8d)

  20. ” That’s different™!!!! ”

When in fact it is not different. Right? The military is just like abortionists and hitler and mao. Right? or no?

    imdw (e66d8d)

  21. imdw and its ilk have blood on their hands for the shooting of these soldiers.

    JD (6675bb)

  22. It is not a hate crime. Some victims are more equal than others.

    JD (6675bb)

  23. Apparently the LA Times hasn’t printed this story yet—-all their reporters must be assigned on the full court press on the Tiller murder. In their eyes, Abortion Doc killed is major news—but a muslim roaming middle America with an “assault weapon” and killing our soldiers doesn’t even merit even a link to an AP story

    doug (49dd6f)

  24. doug – how much you want to bet that when they do run the story, it will be run about the ease of availability of assault weapons, and will ultimately be an advocacy piece for additional gun restrictions?

    JD (6675bb)

  25. Every cause has extremists and lunatics, which the saner ones cannot control.

Whether in Arkansas or Kansas, whether left or right. It’s not rocket science. Reasonable people understand and know this.

    Dana (aedf1d)

  26. But only one side is to be held to account for their extremists, Dana.

    JD (6675bb)

  27. You dumbed out on the other thread so you’re trying to make it up over here eh?

    imdw (6eb217)

  28. ABC News reports suspect had just returned from Yemen, was under investigation by FBI prior to shooting, and was recent Muslim convert……

    http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/story?id=7730637&page=1

    LA Times reports…..shooting, what shooting?

Remarkable that more than 8 hours after the shooting LA Times doesn’t even have a link to story—which was first up on the ABC news on the hour. And they wonder why they are going out of business……. The #1 story on LA Times web site as a “national story” at 8:00 PM—-some guys stole some raptor bones and got 60 days

    doug (49dd6f)

  29. You got me, imdw. It is my goal to be as dumb as you trolls. Just when I think I get close, you get dummer.

    JD (6675bb)

  30. hey JD—judging by your ability to spell, you may just have gotten “dummer”

    doug (49dd6f)

  31. When do we get the breathless coverage of this shooter, his political beliefs, his affiliations, his religion, his hatred, etc … ? When does the left get called upon to answer for this?

    JD (6675bb)

  32. Still cannot catch up with the trolls, doug …

That was intentional, a play on the dummerer than a sack of Andrews comment … 😉

    JD (6675bb)

  33. When Muhammad was arrested he was near a Walgreens drug store and another large store with hundreds of people inside and out in the parking lot areas. But authorities said he never attempted to hurt anyone at either location, and only directed his hostility to the recruiting site.

    That’s from the ABC story.

Your mission if you choose to accept it is to go find the story what explains how there were many many other people around when the abortionist guy was killed but that – just so we’re clear because we want to be very very clear – the killer guy only directed his hostility at the abortionist guy.

  34. doug @ 27, (is this the doug from CW?),

The LAT lede for Dr. Tiller,

Suspect in Kansas abortion doctor’s slaying reportedly belonged to anti-government militia

When, and if they report on the Arkansas tragedy, can we then expect something similar?

Suspect in Arkansas military slaying reportedly belonged to the Muslim faith

btw, the LAT is momentarily tied up with a far more pressing story for their headline. Just posted,

L.A. mayor is dating local newscaster

    Priorities, priorities.

    Dana (aedf1d)

  35. Hmm…..would this count as the first terrorist attack on US soil since Obama became President?

Guy goes to Yemen, a noted terror haven/training ground, and was arrested in Yemen for using a Somali passport—and was being investigated by the Joint Terrorist task force.

Nah, I’m sure this was a one-off, lone wolf operation by a disgruntled American citizen who was neither a terrorist, right wing nut, or left wing wacko…. Nothing to report on here, move along.

    doug (49dd6f)

  36. Dana – When or if they get around to reporting it, is suspect their headline will be something like “Ease of Access to Assault Weapons leads to tragic death”

    JD (6675bb)

  37. The Left was quick to call Tiller’s murder terrorism, yet silence on this one. Actually, the lack of noise from the trolls on this topic, given their noise on the others, is rather telling. They have not yet, apparently, got their marching orders and talking points on how to blame this on Bush.

    JD (6675bb)

  38. Of course you’re right, JD. I momentarily lost myself in crazy thoughts of fair-and-equal-for-all-non-agenda driven reporting. My bad.

    Dana (aedf1d)

  39. I predicted when this first came out that the coverage of the US serviceman being murdered by a Muslim would not get 1/10th of the coverage Tiller got. I was off by an order of magnitude.

    JD (6675bb)

  40. I blame Cindy Sheehan and Michael Moore, oh and Ted Rall.

All battle dead are entitled to a Purple Heart:

“…The Purple Heart is awarded in the name of the President of the United States to any member of an Armed Force or any civilian national of the United States who, while serving under competent authority in any capacity with one of the U.S. Armed Services after 5 April 1917, has been wounded or killed, or who has died or may hereafter die after being wounded-
    (1) In any action against an enemy of the United States… “

    http://www.americal.org/awards/ph.htm

Since we are engaged in a world-wide endeavor to combat Islamist terrorism, against a foe that does not subscribe to the Rules of War, these two men would be considered casualties in that War if their assailant targeted them because of their affiliation with the U.S.Military, and he considered himself as a jihadist. Of course, that could mean an indeterminate detention at GITMO, but he could be returned to AR to face whatever criminal penalties that state wished to impose for a crime committed on its’ territory. But, to escape state prosecution initially, he would have to be linked to AQ in some manner – this can get very complicated.

  43. Attack on a military recruitment station. Lay that on ‘code pink’ and name them as a contributing factor in the murder.

  45. Too bad blogs don’t have an ignore poster buttons. Imdw would be a permanent resident of “iggy hell”.

I wonder why the media hasn’t mentioned race in the AR shootings. Were the soldiers the same race as the shooters? Usually there is some racial politics parroted by the “reporter”.

Jihad trained, US citizen recruited by Muslims attacks military recruiting center. No story there.

  50. Whatever his motivations for the killings, he must face the consequences of his acts. The two victims must be given proper justice and hope that everything will be solved.

Maybe you were thinking of the Butcher and Mad Dog Vachon?

I think Worf would kill all the journos because they are without honor.
