RNC Bond Ad: “Democrats Galore”

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 12:34 pm

Have you seen the RNC/James Bond/Pelosi ad? It’s what all the kids are talking about nowadays:

I figure the average reasonable American will read the phrase “Democrats Galore” and, given the Bond context, will think “Pussy Galore” and get that they’re trying to call Democrats “pussies.” Was that smart and effective? People will differ. Some will say it’s a juvenile distraction from the point of the video, which is Pelosi’s immensely awkward and indefensible lies. Some will say that the controversy will generate more interest in the video, causing more people to discuss Pelosi’s lies.

I can’t work up a lather one way or another. Have at it.

  1. More bites with lies, less showmanship.

It would be more effective to simply place sound bites of Pelosi’s backtracking and contradictory statements by themselves in a 60 second ad.

  2. I believe John Kennedy “got crossways” with the CIA too.

  3. The faux outrage from the Leftists ovber this commercial was as predictable as it is dishonest. Remember the Palin is a c*nt t-shirts? Condi is a house-negro? How about Sully spending the last year in Palin’s uterus? Lieberman in blackface?

Then we’ve scored a direct hit, JD.

They don’t become outraged when lied about; they become outraged when the truth about them is told.

  5. If liberals are claiming that the RNC is calling Pelosi a “pussy” in this video, then I think we should concede the point if they are willing to concede that Obama called Palin a pig.

  6. Nancy Pelosi is the best the Dems have to offer. She’s an obvious fraud as well as an insufferable fool, a bald-faced liar, a jackass of the first water, and a perfect exemplar of the Peter Principle.

Dems have selected her as Speaker to represent them in Congress and she’s the one they so rightly deserve. I couldn’t have done it better myself.

  9. I think the video makes a pointed message in a very effective way. The music/parody is entertaining and the excerpts from Pelosi and Gibbs are damning. But IMO ending it with “Democrats Galore” doesn’t add much in entertainment and is a distraction from the message.

  10. Great ad. This is what YouTube ads should be like, make a policy point with some zip and flair. Love the Bond music.
I dont see how “Democrats galore” means anything, Dont see how its needed either. … Has someone in the blogosphere called her “Pelosi galore”?
Now THAT would be biting and a more direct play on words.

… but irrelevent. The title was Pelosi vs CIA.

If it generates the predictable faux outrage, it only draws attention to the ad. Sometimes that means an ad that goes just a tad too far is more effective than a safe ad that doesnt stir up talk.

    I agree.

  12. That woman and her dirty socialist friends are against our little country’s best interests. It’s very odd that she’s picking fights with the CIA.

  14. It’s a good video but doesn’t go far enough. The heinousness of Pelosi is impossible to do justice to without breaking obscenity laws. I’ve said it before, I’d pay money to see her waterboarded. It’s the least she deserves.

Well, some money; I’m not rolling in it.
