Rossini Sentenced

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 9:46 pm

The New York Post reports:

A disgraced former FBI agent was sentenced today to just one year probation and a $5,000 fine for using the bureau’s computers to dig up information on Hollywood executives involved in a prominent wiretapping case for his actress girlfriend.

Former agent Mark Rossini, who was forced to quit the FBI, was not working on the wiretapping case against private eye Anthony Pellicano and was not authorized to look up the files for actress Linda Fiorentino.

Background here.

  1. That’s a ridiculous sentence that only adds to the sense that the rules don’t apply.

  2. I hope he screws up and goes to freaking prison. Scum deserves to see the Inside.

  3. There is one law for the nomenklatura, and another for everyone else.

It’s the FBI’s way of giving a wink and a nod to insiders who want to use the Bureau’s considerable resources to settle personal scores.

  4. I think it’s sad. It’s not easy to become an FBI agent or to stay one. To throw it away over this…? I think the bigger point may be that people like Pelicano are cesspools that suck you down if you go too close to them.

  5. rossini was working for jim wiatt who promised him a part in the fbi tv series. rossini not working for pellicano and fiorentino dumped him long before he got arrested. rossini wants to be famous and thought wiatt would help him.
