The Return of DRJ

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 2:35 pm

I am thrilled to announce that DRJ will soon resume blogging here, probably beginning tomorrow. She will likely be contributing no more than 1-2 posts per day, typically relating to breaking news stories of interest.

Her return is fortunately timed, because my job duties in the near future will likely slow down my blogging pace. (You may already have noticed this over the past couple of weeks.) I have been very pleased that Karl has continued to post here along with his new Hot Air gig, and that Jack Dunphy has been able to submit more politically themed posts. With the return of DRJ, I am confident that this will remain an interesting place to visit despite my busy periods at work.

Please join me in welcoming back DRJ.

  5. Thanks for being such a patient blogging host, Patterico, and now I’m ready to be kidded for my on-again, off-again blogging habits. What can I say? I just can’t quit you guys.

  6. Welcome back!

  7. Welcome back, DRJ.

  8. This is a great, user friendly site. I enjoyed reading Karl’s well researched and susbtanitve posts at the idiosyncratic Protein Wisdom and was delighted when he came over here.

I’m not as familiar with DRJ.

    Here’s looking at you, DRJ.

    Terry Gain (4f27d2)

  9. Terry, you will find DRJ to be a well-reasoned advocate of her positions, and the most civil, decent you’ll ever care to meet.

Her return is a blessing to this blog.

Welcome back, DRJ. You’ve been missed.

  10. […] Patterico and of DRJ as I am, than her return to blogging at Patterico’s Pontifications  is delightful […]

  13. Such wonderful news! And Patterico, please give DRJ a giant banstick to wield.

You were much missed DRJ. I’m so pleased to hear that you are returning.

    May civility and humor reign!

  15. Excellent news!

  16. DRJ has never asked for or received a penny for her excellent blogging.

She has been given full, unbridled authority to delete comments and ban users. I have never disagreed with her in the past on issues relating to comments and trust her implicitly to do what is necessary and appropriate.

    Patterico (6494ea)

  17. Well, considering the current TrollFest 2009 being experienced here, I recommend she emulate Teddy Roosevelt.

  18. This is GREAT news!
    Welcome back, DRJ.
It will be refreshing to hear a sane voice from the dreaded “fly-over” country.

  26. My bike-riding is on hold, likely permanent I’m afraid. I’m 53. And my last bike was a Kawasaki Z1. Harleys are pretty but a bike that does 60 mph at 4000 rpm in second gear ….

  27. I’m pretty new here, so I’m excited to get to know anyone who comes along. Looking forward to it.

  28. Welcome, Em! How did you find the blog?

    Patterico (e3e7c4)

  29. Hey, Hey, DRJ!

    Dmac (1ddf7e)

  30. Welcome, Em. You should enjoy most of the folks around here, provided you do not lie habitually, act generally mendoucheous, or other such unsavory characteristics ;-). Patterico, DRJ, Karl, and Jack are excellent hosts, if not a touch too kind.

Bike riding is like being in the Marines: former is not in the vocabulary.

I’ve got 15 years on you, and have gone through MV’s, Ducati’s, Triumph’s, Matchless’, Honda’s, and a Kawa H-1 (now there was an evil bike), and I’m just about ready to go out and get another one, probably a new Bonnie (because I can’t afford a new Duck).
You just have to enjoy the road.

    AD - RtR/OS! (b39970)

  32. Awesome! I am especially looking forward to her regular posts on sports-related topics. None of the other regular bloggers here picked up on that issue during DRJ’s hiatus.

    JVW (eabe68)

  33. Welcome back, DRJ! I know my brother is greatly appreciative of you in general, and especially now that his job is so overwhelmingly busy.

I look forward to reading your input!

  34. If DRJ is perusing the comments re “Wanda”, she must be having second thoughts, or gathering her armour, for the battle she is about to engage in with our current batch of trollbots.

Let the Games begin; I know where my money is.

    AD - RtR/OS! (b39970)

  35. Nice! At the risk of sounding sexist, it will be nice to have more of the feminine touch and perspective around here. Looking forward to your posts, DRJ.

    Dana (4a6e8c)

  36. Outstanding!

    Stashiu3 (460dc1)

  37. I didn’t know there was a feminine touch to a knife fight?
…and DRJ can eviscerate a poor argument better than a Marine in a Bayonet Charge.

    AD - RtR/OS! (b39970)

  38. SPQR, yep! But happily so! Oh AD, but there is. Women slice and dice with a refined gentility that is so disarming and charming that an enemy doesn’t even realize they are bleeding out until it’s too late. And if she’s wearing her best Jimmy Choos, well it makes the victim all the more disarmed. The joys of being a girl!

    Dana (4a6e8c)

  39. Jimmy Choos?
Isn’t that what you use to chase roaches into corners with?

  64. Dana,

Does it matter? Now, the rest of the NFL knows what it was like the last couple of years to be a Packer fan and waiting on “His Favre-ness” to pontificate.

    Dmac,

You forgot to say “into double or triple coverage”.

    PCD (02f8c1)

  65. oh. I already said in the other thread. But this is very nice for DRJ to be back. Things I know about DRJ include that she is a she and also she is from Texas. I think West Texas if I remember right like maybe even El Paso.

    Only double or triple?

Don’t forget about those quick flip shovel passes into the midst of blitzing pass-rushers.

  69. got it, AD. Thank you. Usually no one tells me anything. That’s West Texas from where I’m from but maybe they don’t call it that. Mr. P is from Texas too I think except for he was born in Chicago. I don’t know where from in Texas though cause of no one tells me anything.
