Ted Rall Laid Off

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 5:51 pm

I don’t normally gloat when someone loses their job, but for this tool, I’m willing to make an exception. Especially given that his “job” consists of comparing U.S. soldiers to suicide bombers; mocking widows of terror victims; profiting from Pat Tillman’s death; assuming the voice of Iraqi soldiers talking about killing American soldiers; making leftist political hay out of the Nick Berg beheading; lying about lefty blogger vitriol; and suing a guy for making him appear to be a “rude, petty, self-absorbed writer/cartoonist” (which is what he is).

Fuck Ted Rall. I’m glad he got laid off.

  18. I don’t like to see anyone laid off. It’s hard on a person and hard on the family.

But, in this particular case: Well, good.

Ted Rall is an absolute unremitting a——, despicable jerk. I honestly don’t know why he continues to live in a country he so obviously reviles.

However, he’ll land on his feet. The left rewards dishonesty and deceit.

He’ll probably lead Pelosi’s Truth Commissions because he’s the best example I can think of as a true Stalinist.

People like Rall are particularly contemptible because most of them believe their philosophy is grounded in humaneness, big-heartedness and proletariat fairness. If they instead saw themselves and their politics as originating from ruthlessness, vindictiveness, selfishness and SOBism in general, I could at least give them credit for being consistent and honest.

  26. Don’t forget that Rall offended the disabled so much that cost him the WaPo gig. Add Condoleeza Rice to the list of people he has degraded. His cartoon referred to her as a House N… for Bush. Just despicable. And JD, if has a wife, I’m rather hard pressed to understand exactly how a woman can respect a lowlife scumbag like him.

  41. You mean to tell me that neither PBS nor NEA can find it in their hearts to use taxpayer-supported funding to commission “art” by Ted Rall? Shouldn’t he be up for some kind of award, like a Pulitzer, for speaking troof to power?? His awesome talent “deserves” a public forum. Has that asstard ever had the balls to even remotely criticize the religion of peace? Raging Bull’s words apply to Rall.

The very same. And much worse, actually.

  48. As ur esteemed host noted, I, too, don’t like to celebrate someone losing his job. But I had not seen this “cartoon” of his before our host linked it. As the father of one soldier, and of another daughter planning on starting basic training this summer, that cartoon leaves me with somewhat less sympathy for Mr Rall than I might otherwise have.

Ingrown toenail? Dude, polish up on your anatomy. It was a hemorrhoid.

  50. Rall was a true truth seeker. In the sense that he sought the truth but refused to recognize it when he found it. No worries because he’ll have lots of doodle time now. Or Bush stalking. He seems like the type.

  51. Fifty comments, all in agreement. Add mine to it. May he rot.

“Fuck Ted Rall” – perfectly said, Patterico.

“At least he can draw unemployment” – Treacher, that’s priceless.

  52. I am very glad that Ted Rall is no longer in a position to put his sewage out. Very good news in a gloomy world. For the moment. Unfortunately, I’m guessing he’ll be back.

In the meantime, I’ve seen more F-bombs on this site in one post and comments than I remember in the several years I’ve been reading this blog. Its what I would expect from posters and commenters on sites like HuffPo or Daily Kos. Infantile responses. Ted Rall writ small.

Generally, if we are blogging, we are trying to communicate our thoughts to people who may be outside our ideological circle. In a democracy where numbers count when decisions on who leads us are made, I think its a good idea to avoid speaking in ways that unnecessarily make people not want to listen to us. I’ve never seen anyone who got upset because somebody didn’t use profanity. I appreciate bloggers who avoid profanity. I think people on the right could also do better about name calling. Both name calling and profanity indicate our insecurity about the strength of our positions. If you don’t have better weapons than name calling and profanity, there’s good reason to be insecure.

You can argue its just words, but the real question is about whether your asserting your rights to use such language is more important than your message. Scaring off people who are offended by that language doesn’t sound too practical. I don’t read lefty sites because of that, and they can have no sway or influence on me because I don’t listen to them. I will admit that language isn’t the whole reason as their ideas are bad too. There is no point listening to horrible ideas articulated in profanity.

If you are willing to annoy people who don’t use profanity that were brought up that the world is a better place when it isn’t used, just think of it as the same thing as government punishing the good guys and rewarding the irresponsible. Insult on top of injury.

  53. I love how the lefty E&P refers to Rall as a “wildly talented cartoonist” who has been “victimized by the economy.”

No sympathy, of course, for the victims of his wildly left-wing vitriol.

Good riddance, you despicable troll — though he’s certain to turn up somewhere. I’m sure George Soros has already had his people call Rall’s people.

    Jim Lakely (3f31e9)

  54. GOOD RIDANCE! I actually used to listen to this excrement when he had a weekend gig on KFI radio here in Los Angeles. WHAT AN A-HOLE AND A HALF! Oh, and there is a Mrs. Rall, she would fall under the battered wife syndrome. And if there are children of his, call child services! Wait, he would have to be a human being to reproduce! WHEW! Glad to clear that up! Goodbye and do not let the door hit you on the a–, aka your brain!

  57. Good riddance to rancid ‘reporting’.

I shed no tears for someone as heartless as him.

He has a sick mental view of the world, and it is better that it not be put before the public, 1st amendment rights not being denied. He can say what he wants but people do not have to listen, right?

I cannot say what I think of him and remain civil.

Thank you, Mr P, for stating what a lot felt.

  58. Words fail me at this news. I’ll have to resort to the comments of P.J. O’Rourke in his recent Sydney speech:

When charming leftists stick their nose into things they don’t understand they become ratchet-jawed purveyors of monkey-doodle and baked wind. They are piddlers upon merit, beggars at the door of accomplishment, thieves of livelihood, envy coddling tax lice applauding themselves for giving away other people’s money. They are the lap dogs of the poly sci-class, returning to the vomit of collectivism. They are pig herders tending that sow-who-eats-her-young, the welfare state. They are muck-dwelling bottom-feeders growing fat on the worries and disappointments of the electorate. They are the ditch carp of democracy.

    My sentiments, exactly.

  59. Poor Ted Rall, all unemployed and siht. Been there, done that.

I’ve spent the past 17 years in The Stoopid Business™ (automotive), and I’ve suffered the stainless steel hook of “reduction in force” unemployment more than once.

It sucks out loud; to get up for another day at the salt mine only to return home before noon with a cardboard box containing your “personal” items.

Later, after all the crying and hystrionics and “what are we going to do now?”, in the dark hours of the night, after the family has gone to bed, you sit there and ponder the situation. Then you throw up. Twice. You wonder just WTF? you’re going to do, to provide for your family….

Short of a death in the family, it’s the most awful pain one can imagine.

And Ted Rall is going through such pain right now. I’ll sleep well tonight, knowing that “karma” has a sense of justice.

    Michael X. (65a9e3)

John – Throw some facts on us John. To what factors do you attribute the execrable Mr. Rall losing his job?

    daleyrocks (5d22c0)

  63. He was laid off from his job as an editor at United Media, which has zilch to do with the editorial cartoons he draws or the opinion columns he writes, which are syndicated by another company. Them’s the factors, Dale.

    John Read (ca13d8)

  64. John Read,
Rall’s editorial cartoons and opinion columns weren’t paying his bills. Hence the “wildly talented” cartoonist’s desperate appeal for help getting a new job.
