My sister’s new blog is a mixture of personal stuff and her views on politics. There are lots of pictures of my nephew, which I love — as well as his stirring rendition of America the Beautiful. I especially love the decisive gesture at “above the fruited plain.”
Her blog takes after mine in this sense: like mine, her blog name is derived from a nickname given by our dad.

So much of the time I only go to the “usual suspects” when I read blogs, Ace, Little Miss Attila, Patterico, Protein Wisdom, Instapundit, that I forget that are other things going on in the world. Frankly, it was a real breath of fresh air to read your sister’s blog, where she is just talking about the daily things of life, instead of spending all her time weighing in the “important” matters of politics and foreign policy.
I don’t mean this in a condescending way, either. Obviously, she has done a couple of posts about politics and the stimulus bill, so she is aware of this stuff. But sometimes we get so caught up in the play-counterplay of our little arguments here in the blogosphere that we forget there is a big world out there.
Your sister’s blog helped remind me about that world. Also, it was really fun to see someone blogging for the sheer joy of having a new forum in which to express herself.
