Octomom Says All 14 Kids Came from Same Sperm Donor
I haven’t said much about the local mother of octuplets — a mother whom local radio talk show hosts are calling “Octomom” — but this is a little creepy.
Suleman said she went to the same in vitro fertilization clinic to have all 14 of her children. All were conceived with donated sperm from the same father, Suleman said.
Suleman told Curry that the father is a bit overwhelmed right now, but she is hoping that he will want to get to know his children when he is ready.
As iowahawk says: “Pay up, sucka!”

Um. Then she should have waited until she was done with school, not had them now which will make getting to that “for the kids” future, well, 14 times harder.
While IMO it’s wonderful she decided not to let any of the children she had conceived die, to think she, a single mom with no job and no steady man by her side, is giving her 14 children the best life possible is simply delusional. She’s admitted already she wanted the children, not for their own sakes, but to fill a void in her own life.
When a lonely, perhaps underparented 13 year old makes such a decision it’s tragic. When an ostensible adult makes this decision it’s nothing but selfish.
I know several families with between 8 and 12 children. All are happy, intact, lovely, successful families who are that way because Mom and Dad 1) stay together, and 2) put the children’s interests first, not their own “emotional needs.”

Right. But can you feed, clothe, and shelter them on your own dime, Ms. Suleman? A lot of people would probably have enjoyed have larger families but wisely asked themselves that critical question before making the decision. That is what unselfishness looks like.

I know in other states sperm donors have been forced to take financial responsibility against their will.

I would think her actions would be sufficient evidence of her ability to return to work and end her disability payments except that I work with Workers Comp claims and know better.

And she will probably get plenty of financial help to at least get by and probably support the kids sufficiently.

I don’t know of a law against it, if there is no sexual intercourse. The doctors here can tell us about the viability of embryos whose parents are too genetically similar.
