Its A Good Thing for Obama That Helen Jones-Kelly Isn’t a Republican Working For The Hawaii Department of Health

Apparently, in Ohio if you ask a political candidate a question, that’s sufficient “probable cause” to generate an inquiry by state officials into whether or not you’re delinquent on your child support payments.

Helen Jones-Kelly, director of the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, confirmed today that she OK’d the check on Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher following the Oct. 15 presidential debate.

She said there were no political reasons for the check on the sudden presidential campaign fixture though the Support Enforcement Tracking System.

Amid questions from the media and others about “Joe the Plumber,” Jones-Kelley said she approved a check to determine if he was current on any ordered child-support payments.

Such information was not and cannot be publicly shared, she said. It is unclear if Wurzelbacher is involved in a child-support case. Reports state that he lives alone with a 13-year-old son.

“Our practice is when someone is thrust quickly into the public spotlight, we often take a look” at them, Jones-Kelley said, citing a case where a lottery winner was found to owe past-due child support. “Our practice is to basically look at what is coming our way.”

If Jones-Kelly was a Republican working for the Hawaii Department of Health, the country might be able to see a copy of Obama’s birth certificate — he has, after all, been “thrust quickly into the public spotlight.”

Ace notes that she also happens to be a maxed-out Obama campaign donor.

  1. Another example of the thuggish behavior of Obama supporters.

Dissent will not be tolerated in an Obama regime.

  2. It would be a much different world of privacy if probable cause was required before the government checked its own databases.

    Seriously? This site too?

  3. And these are the same Leftists that scream about the shredding of the Constitution or library records being examined.

  4. Political opponents are fair game in Baracky’s world. At least imdw has enough honesty to admit that.

  5. ‘We often take a look’. That’s a lot of difference than providing (leaking) it to the Lame Stream Media. ‘Joe the Plumber’ should become a multi-millionaire (along with about a dozen lawyers) thanks to the left wing liberal employee’s of the state of Ohio.

  6. imdw — my comment about the Department of Health is mocking in nature. I’ve never suggested, nor do I belive, that Obama was born anywhere other than the Kapiolani Women and Children’s Hospital on Punahou Blvd. in Honolulu.

I do find it odd, though, that his campaign hasn’t put that to rest.

Heck, even his mother’s birth certificate would put paid to it.

  9. We are not allowed to question The One. If you think this is annoying, say so now. We won’t be allowed to say these things after he is elected and has the DoJ at his disposal to harass opponents.

  10. WLS, while we’re talking about gross misconduct in the highest levels of government, please answer me this:
Can someone take an oath to defend and uphold the Constitution of the United States when they have publicly declared it to be flawed and inadequate? On the radio clip on redistribution of wealth he complains about what the founding fathers did or did not put in the Constitution. He is essentially saying that he does not like the form of government that was established and thinks it should be different. Not that there needs to be some specific amendments or legislation passed, but that it was an inadequate document outlining an inadequate governmental system.

  13. He didn’t call it flawed MD in Philly. He called it fatally flawed. Like the experiment that is “The United States of America” was one of Shakespeare’s great tragedies or something.

  14. Sarkozy views the Democratic candidate’s stance on Iran as “utterly immature” and comprised of “formulations empty of all content.”

Maybe France is not so bad after all …

    JD (5b4781)

  15. Thanks for pointing that out, Al. I guess I was trying to “avoid overreaching” and bringing disrepute to my point.

Besides, as JD comments, if Madison and Monroe and Jefferson were so inferior to “The One”, who am I to bring a challenge?

On the other hand, this does sound familiar…
The One: “Have you ever heard of Jefferson, Monroe, Madison, Adams?”
    The commoner: “Yes”
The One: “Morons, all of them”

  16. MD – When it comes to Baracky and his positions, it can sometimes be hard to over-reach. Don’t forget about the “original sin” of slavery.

  17. Jake Tapper, quoting from the Columbus Dispatch, has an update on the Ohio investigations:

    * “The Toledo Police Department announced today that a civilian employee improperly pulled Wurzelbacher’s information on behalf of a reporter for a Toledo television station shortly after the Oct. 15 presidential debate. The employee has been charged with gross misconduct and faces a disciplinary hearing, said Chief Michael Navarre. He declined to identify the TV station, but said the reporter confirmed asking for a check on Wurzelbacher’s address.

    * “The Cuyahoga County Child Support Enforcement Agency also said an employee’s computer was used to improperly access Bureau of Motor Vehicles records on ‘Joe the Plumber.’ The employee denies involvement.

    * “Another access of Wurzelbacher’s information, by an outside contractor who had access to an attorney general’s office test account, is being investigated by the State Highway Patrol.

    * “Inspector General Thomas P. Charles is investigating why the director of Ohio Department of Job and Family Services approved a check on Wurzelbacher through the state’s child-support computer system. Director Helen Jones-Kelley said that after a ‘team meeting,’ she OK’d the check because the department often runs inquiries to check for unpaid child support when people are thrust into ‘the public spotlight.'”

Jones-Kelly, a Democratic appointee who has given the Obama campaign $2,500, claimed to have had no political motivations when she allowed the check.”

  18. Thank you, DRJ, Jake Tapper, and at least a handful of people with integrity in the State of Ohio.

  19. I just ran across this Baracky quote, and found it quite amusing. Normally, this would almost be breath-taking, and certainly something the media would have hounded the candidate about. But one must not question Teh One.

Obama in his own words to the Chicago Sun-Times on November 4, 2004: “I was elected yesterday. . . . I have never set foot in the U.S. Senate. I’ve never worked in Washington. And the notion that somehow I’m immediately going to start running for higher office just doesn’t make sense. So look, I can unequivocally say I will not be running for national office in four years, and my entire focus is making sure that I’m the best possible senator on behalf of the people of Illinois. . . . I am not running for president in 2008.”

A liar then, a liar now!

His fundamental problem with the Constitution is that it founded a Republic, with a central government of limited and defined powers.
Baracky wants a Democracy where he can be elected “President for Life”.
One Man, One Vote, One Time!
(are we sure he’s not related to Robert Mugabe?)

    Barack Obama
    Leader of the new Ameriki
    President for Life!

  21. JD–

That would make a great last-minute campaign ad, as would Biden’s trashing of Obama’s qualifications during Dem debates.

    Kevin (0b2493)

  22. I could not agree more, Kevin. Therefore, it will never happen. 😉

    JD (5b4781)

  23. Joe will not even have to file a lawsuit to get a settlement for this … I suspect that the various departments/agencies should have already sumbitted a claim to their liability carrier, who is attempting to make a determination as to whether or not to extend coverage for an intentional act.

    JD (5b4781)

  24. “are we sure he’s not related to Robert Mugabe?”

What, Raila Odinga isn’t bad enough for you?

    rhodeymark (6797b5)

  25. In a rational world, that quote is one of the things that should have killed his candidacy early in the primaries.

    SPQR (26be8b)

  29. That is sooooooooooo racist, SPQR.

    JD (5f0e11)

  30. You like that, JD? Hints of what life will be like in an Obama administration. Dissent will not be tolerated.

    SPQR (26be8b)

  31. No, SPQR, dissent will be tolerated, just as long as you do it in your own home behind closed doors so Baracky the Great One doesn’t have to see or hear it. Obama and his leftist illuminati ideals will turn us all into a bunch of zombies. I’m already preparing for the brainwashing.
