Feds Uncover Neo-Nazi Plot to Kill Obama

[Guest post by DRJ]

From court records unsealed today:

“Jim Cavanaugh, special agent in charge of the Nashville field office for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said the two men planned to shoot 88 black people and decapitate another 14. The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist community.

The men also sought to go on a national killing spree, with Obama as its final target, Cavanaugh told The Associated Press.

“They said that would be their last, final act — that they would attempt to kill Sen. Obama,” Cavanaugh said. “They didn’t believe they would be able to do it, but that they would get killed trying.”

The report states they targeted a predominantly African-American high school.

If this is true, these are sick, evil idiots.

UPDATE: I’ve changed the title because the plot was uncovered by Tennessee law enforcement:

“Both individuals stated they would dress in all white tuxedos and wear top hats during the assassination attempt,” the court complaint states. “Both individuals further stated they knew they would and were willing to die during this attempt.”

An Obama spokeswoman traveling with the senator in Pennsylvania had no immediate comment.

Sheriffs’ deputies in Crockett County, Tenn., arrested the two suspects – Daniel Cowart, 20, of Bells, Tenn., and Paul Schlesselman 18, of Helena-West Helena, Ark. – Oct. 22 on unspecified charges. “Once we arrested the defendants and suspected they had violated federal law, we immediately contacted federal authorities,” said Crockett County Sheriff Troy Klyce.

The two were charged by federal authorities Monday with possessing an unregistered firearm, conspiring to steal firearms from a federally licensed gun dealer, and threatening a candidate for president.”

  1. I suspect that they are sick, evil idiots, regardless of whether or not this was true.

Clearly, this is John McCain’s fault.

  2. I blame the Bush Tax-Cuts!

    Another Drew (cdf426)

  3. Well, yeah. Bizarre story — I’m confident lots and lots of alcohol was involved.

    Joel Rosenberg (5ec843)

  4. Funny how time and again, court records become unsealed at the most advantageous time for Obama.

    Perfect Sense (9d1b08)

  5. Talk is talk and bullshit — even bullshit of the evil vile (a coincidence that those two words are anagrams?) variety — walks.

I’m just waitin’ to see the photos of Ron Paul posters hangin’ on the walls of their shack.

  6. Icy – They will not have Nor Laup signs, they will have Murtha signs.

  7. All I ask if for 15 minutes alone with each of them. The feds can have whatever’s left when I’m done…

  8. Boy, this is sure to hand TN to the Dems.

  9. Hey, if Gore couldn’t carry his home state . . .

    Icy Truth (1468e4)

  10. Sick is the word for it, DRJ. These nutballs are terrorists every bit as much as the Muslim Fanatic variety. Worse, really, because as Americans they should have first hand experience with our fundamental principles of freedom and equality.

    PatHMV (653160)

  11. 4- I guess it makes ‘perfect sense’ that Obama planned his own assassination plot in order to gain an advantage in the polls. Brilliant post.

    truthnjustice (d99227)

  12. Perfect Sense is right, though. This is excellent timing for the never-hesitate-to-play-the-race-card party.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we could delete references to alcohol, and substitute cyrstal-meth instead.

    Another Drew (cdf426)

  14. And, PREDICTABLY, truthnjustice comes along to deliberately misunderstand the plain English that Perfect Sense wrote. No one is saying that he “planned his own assassination plot”; it is the timing of the unsealing of court records that has come into question.

    Icy Truth (1468e4)

  15. tmj – Do you ever tire of being dishonest?

    JD (5b4781)

  16. I dunno. While I’d question the timing, they apparently were arrested Friday; doesn’t seem to me that releasing the news today is terribly suspicious, in and of itself.

    Joel Rosenberg (5ec843)

  17. Too true. I just like playing along with conspiracy theories when they disparage someone that I dislike.

    Icy Truth (1468e4)

  18. It was an inference, spicy poop. To suggest that the uncovering of a plot had the perfect timing to help Obama in his candidacy is a stretch.

    truthnjustice (d99227)

  19. Inferences should bear a reasonable relationship to the actual text. “I guess it makes ‘perfect sense’ that Obama planned his own assassination plot” has no basis in what tmj claims to have drawn the inference from. To suggest what Perfect Sense intended, or you inferred, was that Baracky planned his own assassination is at best, weapons-grade stooopid. In your case, we can assume dishonesty.

    JD (5b4781)

  20. And crickets chirping on the jolly good exhuberant Halloween fun of hanging Palin in effigy.

As if the neo-nazi whackjobs really need to make Obama a martyr and incite race riots a la Martin Luther King, Jr. Some of us recall being in the middle of those events forty years ago.

Hang the b**tards upside down by their family jewels as far as I’m concerned.

    madmax333 (0c6cfc)

  21. max – That is okay, because they are Dems, and their intentions are pure.

    JD (5b4781)

  22. The title is misleading. The AP story on this states that the two men were arrested by the local police. The local police then informed the FBI. A big Hat Tip to the local police who actually did the work and deserve the credit not the POR man from the FBI.

    longwalker (695a1d)

  23. Well, we could single out the hanging of a Palin figure in effigy if the same thing hasn’t happened to an Obama figure. I don’t condone either one. I don’t think that Palin would be a good leader (for reasons I have discussed quite often on here), but that hardly exculpates those who exhibit that type of brutish behavior.

    truthnjustice (d99227)

  24. tmj – Good on you. Now, if you could just quit being dishonest …

    JD (5b4781)

  25. Expect a liar not to lie?
Now, there is a bridge too far!

    Another Drew (cdf426)

  26. Ha, if only I could. It’s quite a rut I get myself into.

    truthnjustice (d99227)

  27. It’s incidents like this that persuade me to support the legalization of recreational pharmaceuticals. Were it not for the cognitive degradation caused by their meth use the two imbeciles might have gotten somewhere with their plan.

    Alan Kellogg (e4d258)

  28. longwalker,

The initial report I read didn’t say that, but I’m happy to give credit to the local authorities and I’ve updated the post. Thanks.

  29. Breaking News! Obama scandal. Is this the end of Obama?
Obama reveals his hatred for ordinary Americans.
I am so disappointed in Obama!

    love2008 (1b037c)

  30. Does suspect Daniel Cowart remind anyone of Boy George?

    steve (31e02f)

  31. #39 Obama revealed his hatred for ordinary Americans by attending racist hate meetings for 20 years, by donating tens of thousands of dollars to the racist hate organization and by taking his wife and children to those meetings.

Other than that, and despising those who cling to their religion and guns, Obama likes ordinary Americans (who properly worship him).

    Perfect Sense (9d1b08)

  32. Oops #29, not #39 (I need better reading glasses.)

    And Kyoto.

    But not Halliburton.

    daleyrocks (60704b)

  34. Like the two meth heads that Aurora PD picked up during the DNC, other than the substantive charges on illegal possession, this sounds like some big talk being blown a big out of proportion.

    SPQR (26be8b)

  35. One of the consequencies of “Terrorist!”, “Kill him!”. This is just the beginning.

    love2008 (1b037c)

  36. love2008, your whole comment is based on a falsehood. Yet again. There was no such said of Obama.

    SPQR (26be8b)

  37. As a resident of Crockett County, TN, I have to admit that our little county with a grand total population of around 15,000 is going to get one hell of a bad rap after all this. In fact, I know Cowart’s mother and she is in fact a very sweet lady who is going through her own personal hell right now. Unfortunately for her, her son seems to be a nutjob. The word around here is that these two do not have the intelligence to pull off their obvious ridiculous plot.

    D. Williams (eacccc)

  38. Are you embarrassed, SPQR?

    love2008 (1b037c)

  39. love2008, why would I be embarrassed that you are repeating falsehoods long debunked? You embarrass only yourself.

    SPQR (26be8b)

  40. Comment by SPQR — 10/27/2008 @ 8:34 pm

Well I am embarrassed. For this country. I am embarrassed that after so many years of racial advancement, we still have nutheads like this to cast shame on our teeth. What do you imagine would happen if anything were to happen to Barack Obama? The first African American with a real shot at being the first black President of the greatest country on earth-assassinated by white supremacists. Unimaginable! It will be that final blow that bring about the destruction of life as we know it here. Things will never be the same again.

    love2008 (1b037c)

  41. love2008, these clowns are rightfully jailed as the criminal trash that they are, but they had no serious chance of assassinating Obama. Just as the meth heads that were picked up during the DNC in Denver had no real plan or opportunity. This is all a tempest in a teapot.

And your attempt to blame McCain/Palin supporters for this is based on a fraud on your part – citing to verbal attacks on Obama that never actually happened.

Meanwhile, lets see you condemn this.

They did yell “Terrorist!” when Obama was mentioned. And as for “Kill him!”, that is argueable. There was also a nuthead who claimed she was attacked by a black man who carved a “B” mark on her face. It turned out it was false. Such claims can incite idiots like these chaps in question to revenge. By attacking blacks and triggering a racial war of staggering proportions. All these things are related. And yes, I think Palin has contributed to this. Not saying she would support it. But she seems not to know how much influence she can have on people like these nut jobs. And I do condemn the mannequin on a noose. But hey, it’s all in the spirit of hallowen. That is not the same as a real threat to a Presidentail candidate.

    love2008 (1b037c)

  43. love2008, more lies. They yelled “terrorist” about Bill Ayers. And there is no argument, secret service investigation found no one yelled “kill him” about Obama.

Since the threats to a candidate were in fact not real, you remain a fraud.

    SPQR (26be8b)

  44. And I do condemn the mannequin on a noose. But hey, it’s all in the spirit of hallowen.

You condemn it, yet justify it? No contradiction there. Meh.

    Dana (658c17)

  45. Just a few statistics from that chart to show how ignorant timb is.

In 2000, the top 1% of all filers by AGI paid 37.42% of the total income tax paid. In 2006, they paid 39.89%. The top 5% went from 56.47% to 60.14% over the same period.

  46. One of the consequencies of “Terrorist!”, “Kill him!”. This is just the beginning.

Yeah, before you know it, they’ll be Professors of Education at the University of Illinois and consorting with wannabe Presidents. Just give it a couple of decades.

Lovie takes a week off, and then starts the same old lies all over again.

I think Palin has contributed to this.

How dare one criticize Teh One ?

  50. this is zionism job like john f kennedy assisination behind every conspiracy is zionist

    arash (ed2c1b)

  51. 50 yes and how is that the-dirty-joos-poisoned Yassir Arafish meme coming along? Or was it actually death from complications of Aids? Did any relatively innocent young boys/men of Arafish’s acquaintance suffer the same fate.

So amusing that the great allah cannot prevent the feeeeelthy stinking Joooos from eating Pali babies or assassinating brave muslims. Nor does allah prevent “sacreligious” art aimed at Him from being created. Just lots of murderous rage after the fact. Nice rationalizing a baby rapist as your almighty god of darkness. Your boy might have been a macho blue-helmeted UN soldier raping kids.
Yeah, sirhan sirhan was part of a Jewish cabal.

  52. They did yell “Terrorist!” when Obama was mentioned.

    When Bill Ayers was mentioned.

    Not really.

There was also a nuthead who claimed she was attacked by a black man who carved a “B” mark on her face. It turned out it was false.

    Nuthead, Paultard, same difference.

Such claims can incite idiots like these chaps in question to revenge.

People as assbackwards and dimwitted as these two douchebags don’t need incitement.

By attacking blacks and triggering a racial war of staggering proportions.

    See above.

    All these things are related.

People who have swastikas tattooed on them don’t need “encouragement.”

And yes, I think Palin has contributed to this.

    Then you’re foolish beyond belief.

Not saying she would support it. But she seems not to know how much influence she can have on people like these nut jobs.

Again, none. People who are so bereft of decency don’t need impetus to act.

And I do condemn the mannequin on a noose.

    It was going good until…

But hey, it’s all in the spirit of hallowen.

    …oh, but not really.

That is not the same as a real threat to a Presidentail candidate.

Does it require a chiropractor to reset your spine after these orthopedically unsound logical contortions?

It’s really quite something to behold.

    CW Desiato (614aa7)

  53. spqr #34: Probably.

As to the comparison with the lynching of the Palin mannequin, I dunno. That was in preposterously bad taste, and would have been on front pages everywhere if it had been Barry O, instead, sure. But even if this was just loose talk, rather than a preposterous plan, it was loose talk/a preposterous plan in which some real people would have been hurt and/or killed if it had been attempted. (Quite probably at the beginning, when the two, err, clue-deprived evil morons tried to rob a gun store. I’m not saying that’s impossible to do, but I think these are the sorts of folks who, if they tried to blow up a car, would burn their lips on the tailpipe….)

    Joel Rosenberg (5ec843)

  54. Joel, I’m happy to have the scumbags in custody and charged with felonies. What I’m saying is that these clowns were not serious threats to Obama as opposed to their neighbors.
