  1. LOL….meanwhile, patterico, the puter wiz, is never heard from again……. j/k

If one is not a puter geek, this stuff gets complicated in a hurry.

  2. It doesn’t help when your domain registrar misleads you and is bureaucratically unresponsive in dealing with its errors.

  3. Done.

    and … done.

    batten them hatches, Patterico.

fwiw – and completely off topic – when the talk turns to Pennsylvania’s deep-rooted racism, which prevents them from voting for the black guy for President – bear this in mind:

Ed Rendell – Democrat and white – beat Lynn Swann, Republican and black – 40% of the electorate voted for the black guy.

That forty percent is the same forty percent now being called “racist”

  5. DomCollect pretends to be a German outfit to scare off Americans, who think they can’t lift a finger against it . . . but really it is tied up with 1&1 internet, which is based in America.

At least, that’s what I think based on some Google searches. A real investigation may reveal a deep-pockets defendant who would give you back your domain name in a heartbeat in order to avoid scrutiny.

Those people are thieves and should be shot. They’ve stolen a domain name from a friend of mine. That’s why I looked into them originally.

The best way to get your name back would be to forge Mr. Schneider’s signature in a document to ICANN making it look like he wants to transfer his domain to you. That’s how sex.com was stolen. Stealing a domain back should be fair game.

Unfortunately, you’re a lawyer, so you can’t perjure yourself. Stupid Bar Association!

Some of the big firm IP lawyers might have an idea how to get your name back from Domcollect. Maybe one of them can help you.

  7. Unfounded Speculation,

I think what you’re seeing is simply the representative of the company, because I registered privately.

  9. Then again, this story sounds disturbingly familiar.

Am I about to be out of commission through the election?

  10. Am I about to be out of commission through the election?

Only if those assholes don’t know that inviting a lawsuit from a lawyer is like inviting a fistfight from a boxer.

  11. It doesn’t sound good.

Are you offering any kind of severance package to guest bloggers?

  12. I just connected again through a link that was within the comment, “the great blogger Patterico” in Coulter’s lastest column which mentions the lameass LATs treatment of Obama/Ayers initial political connection.

  14. Your host is auditioning to be an Obama bureaucrat.

  15. The story is the same down to the following details:

    Registered with 1&1

    Credit card expired

Notice of expiration sent to old expired e-mail address

Blog owner notified his account is in collections

Blog owner straightens out payment issue weeks before expiration

[another eerie similarity deleted as irrelevant to the domain situation]

Yet whois now shows registration to domcollect

In the post I link above, the blog owner had to fight for weeks to get his site back.

I hope I’m not in for the same.

  17. Patterico – I am on vacation for another week and a half, and though pretty busy, I would be glad to help out, to the extent that I could. Would be happy to go visit the kids at 1&1 and domcollect for you 😉

    JD (6248dc)

  18. Unfortunately, you’re a lawyer, so you can’t perjure yourself. Stupid Bar Association!

Thankfully, I’m not a lawyer, and thus can perjure myself all day long…

I’m hoping some day to break into Democrat politics. 🙂

  20. All of my favorite sites are getting cornholed by internet bureaucraps the last couple weeks. They all happen to be on the Right. Coincidence?

    JD (6248dc)

  21. Scott – I would just like to have a nice conversation with the gentleman. I want to get a full and complete understanding of their reality, so I can be empathetic to the trials and tribulations that they have endured and are enduring. That will allow me a more wholistic view of the circumstances, so I can view them as imperfect but valuable people, rather than the pieces of shit I believe them to be.

Plus, I have been really crisp in my Krav lessons recently.

    JD (6248dc)

  22. Well, let’s calm down and assume everything is OK for now. If this is still going on in two weeks, we’ll revisit the issue of beatings.

    Patterico (cc3b34)

  23. Patterico – Let me know if I can help. I promise not to call them douchenozzles, twatwaffles, mendoucheous, or any other vividly descriptive word without your clear and unambiguous prior approval 😉

  24. I think that this calls for a line out of any black exploitation film from the 70’s…

  27. From 1&1:

    Thank you for contacting us.

Upon checking, the domain transfer of patterico.com
    is on progress,
basically SEDO is our sister company who are the ones who holds the
domain momentarily while it’s under redemption period. However, you’ll
be contacted via email if there any actions needed in your part. Thank
    you for your cooperation.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

    Sincerely,

  28. Patterico, it sounds like they aren’t cheating you, they’re just slow/lazy. Customer service is not these Krauts’ strong suit.

Sedo, DomCollect, 1&1, and many other companies are all part of the “United Internet AG” empire of crime and slime.

You should not do business with any of United Internet AG’s tentacles, if you can avoid it. Even when they aren’t trying to cheat you, they’re still a giant stinky sea monster.

DomCollect stole my friend’s domain name outright and are now squatting on it. They put it up for auction on Sedo and they use Sedo to get ad revenue when people visit it by mistake.

Ms. Jostol, you work for a diseased company, and this disease is contagious. Stay there long enough, and you too will be diseased.

    Unfounded Speculation (4ecd4c)

  29. Sounds like http://paterico.com is willing to add the button. It’s not the perfect solution at all- may help to keep you “findable” through the election…

    Hi Tim,

Yeah, ok – my site is in need of a lot of work anyway so maybe this will prompt me to actually put up something proper!

Incidentally, how did it get hijacked? Good luck to whoever is try to get it sorted out.

    Patrick

  30. I’ve also noted your IP address. Some righteous blogosphere indignation from multiple political views — and an inquiry with ICANN — might help speed things along

  31. How come Instapundit can access you at Patterico.com but we can’t? Does he have a super-computer in Switzerland or something?

    nk (5dcbab)

  32. All you guys who link Patterico can help the cause by replacing patterico.com in your templates with 70.32.75.225 while still having Patterico’s Pontifications as the link on your front page. Like this: Patterico’s Pontifications.

    nk (5dcbab)

  33. 32. I think they might be co-conspirators. Apparently they even e-mail each other. So it is possible that’s how the mysterious all numbers code for access was derived. I think if one studies numerology it will be readily apparent that 70.32.75.225 has racist connotations. Coulter might be in on it too because I found my way back here by clicking on the name Patterico contained within her latest column. It may be possible that these conservatives are working underhandedly to strive to bring disgrace to Obama. Isn’t it time to dig into the motivations and backgrounds of the far right Obama doubters? At least rightwingnuthouse is getting with the program and recognizing O’s inevitableness. Ok, we know Patrick Frey is a prosecutor in Ca. How is operating a blog that bashes Obama helping the average citizen of California? Isn’t it possible that various vrwc bloggers have formed a cabal seeking to undermine the truth?
And just who is this “zombie” character whose DRJ link accuses Ayers of being a violent commie? What is zoimbie hiding? We know next to nothing about him/her, other than that zombietime ridicules good, honest mutant liberals at every turn. How dare he make fun of people like the naked man with peace signs on his body and grossly engorged-with-saline testicles?
Time for the media to vet all these bloggers. Does zombie co-conspire with Charles Johnson, who has a secret hideaway under the Denver airport?

/ only funnin’ with you…where are the trolls?

    Nobama…trickle up poverty

    madmax333 (0c6cfc)

  34. How come Instapundit can access you at Patterico.com but we can’t?

It all has something to do with caching. I don’t pretend to understand it.
