Murtha’s Racist Redneck Constituents

[Guest post by DRJ]

Remember last week when Rep. Murtha called his Western Pennsylvania constituents racists? What he meant to say was some of them are racist rednecks:

“What I said, that indicted everybody, that’s not what I meant at all. What I mean is there’s still folks that have a problem voting for someone because they are black,” Murtha said.

Murtha said the history of southwestern Pennsylvania is rife with racism.

“This whole area, years ago, was really redneck,” Murtha told Channel 4 Action News.”

He added it’s particularly true of older people.

Heh. Keep digging, John.

  1. Cue the faux-constituents coming by to tell us that Murtha only speaks the truth, and that they are all racist rednecks, especially the older ones. Great electoral strategy, calling people racists and rednecks in an attempt to influence their voting decisions.

  2. that’s not what I meant at all

Heh. Straight from the Obama playbook. Nose, nose, anything goes, because one can always shamelessly backpedal.

  3. Dana – He threw himself under the bus, temporarily. But I like the follow-up. I did not mean that they were racists, I meant that the old people are redneck racists. Even better.

  4. I am quite certain that it is racist to point that out. Since Murtha is a Dem and all …

  8. Wanker, didn’t you just post a tiresome rant earlier, detailing how worthless this site is, compared to the other conservative sites you visit?

You were then asked why you visit here so often, in light of that rant, and also for a list of those superior conservative sites, yes? So let’s have the reason for your continued and inane presence, and the list. Don’t run away now and hide, which is your usual wont.

  9. I have family from that area. They call it Pennsylvania Dutch. It is really German stock. They work hard there. No wonder they don’t like Democrats.

  10. I read WankerFelcher’s link. What an incredible amount of BS anecdotes – McCain sponsored robocalls using Baracky’s voice to drop n*bombs, claims that hicks told a pollster that they are voting for the N*, etc … Stuff so made up that Olberdouchenozzle has not even had the temerity to run it.

  11. Obama believes it’s better to say it first and then backpedal later. He’s the golden child of the media, so he knows that he won’t be grilled over the hot coals of public scrutiny if he lets his leftist illuminati views slip.

  12. Alta Bob, wrong part of Pennsylvania. Jack Murtha’s district is not Pennsylvania Dutch country, except for a few townships in Somerset County maybe that have a handful of Mennonites.

Murtha’s district is mixed ethnic, Scots-Irish, central European, but not primarily later-immigrant German or the earlier Pennsylvania Dutch stock. And his district is socially conservative but very Democratic.

It is losing population as the younger people move away from the decline and corruption.

  13. “What I mean is there’s still folks that have a problem voting for someone because they are [white]…”

…would seem to apply equally. Does that make *them* racist, too?

Problem is, not likely an incumbent with the regional airport named after him will ever leave Congress short of passing away or picking a relative to succeed him.
