Obama Supporters are an E-clectic Bunch

Matthew Mosk at the Washington Post blog The Trail introduces us to Obama supporters Edrty Eddty and Es Esh:

“The number of fake names attached to Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign contributions continues to inch up as news outlets and political researchers page through thousands of pages of donor listings.

Turns out, they’re not that hard to come by. New discoveries from a cursory review of the listings include Edrty Eddty, who donated $250 in July 2008 and Es Esh, who gave $325 in July. Esh hailed from this unusual address: “fhdfhdfh, Erial, NJ 08081” Eddty listed his, or perhaps her, employer as “Poiuyttrrewe / Qwertyuio” — the letters, more or less in order, found on the top line of standard computer keyboards.

The Obama campaign gave all the money from questionable donors back. But the series of news reports uncovering fake contributions is raising eyebrows. How could a system that collects contributions not immediately discover such obviously false names?

Remember when Obama told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that running his campaign qualified as executive experience? I certainly hope a President Obama would use his fundraising skills to convince people of all nations to donate money to the U.S. Treasury with the same zeal they’ve supported his campaign.

“You are the ones we’ve been waiting for! About $3K per individual sounds about right. Abortions for some, American Flags for others!”

  13. If Sggggjjj[[[[p from Ymohngst, LQ is donating money, how do they know who to return it to?

    JD (f7900a)

  14. We are real people and we will enable barack hussein obama, the Enlighted Chosen and Peerless/Fearless Leader to reach the stars. One world united and you rapacious rethuglicans can’t do a thing about it. Admit it- even Bush-McCain has given Obama his blessing. Can’t wait to see Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld in a world court called to account for their crimes against humanity.

  15. JD,

If they were internet payments, I assume the campaign refunded the donation to the credit card the charge was made on.

    DRJ (c953ab)

  16. DRJ – For credit card transactions, in order to clear a batch capture, the name, billing address and security code has to be compared to the current record on file with the credit card company.

Refunds are tabulated to the same account, otherwise where is the proof that the money was returned? There is no proof, other than the Obama campaign’s word (HA!) that they’ve returned the funds.

These records exist, but the Obama campaign will not divulge them, as that would expose more of their illegal activities.

  17. Fortunately, all one has to do is turn on the TV to Fox News to see the kind of supporters McCain has — these are angry, hateful people.

Nothing like seeing an angry mob screaming “terrorist,” or see Hannity/Orielly/Limbaugh talking about how the world is going to end if this man becomes president, to scare the hell out of you and solidify your vote for Obama.

The worst parts of the current Republican party are boiling to the surface right now. You can almost hear it screaming “I’m MELTING! I’m MEEEELTING!”

    Phil (3b1633)

  18. DRJ – Shouldn’t they disclose the names of the people who made the donation?

Nothing like seeing an angry mob screaming “terrorist,”

I have yet to see this. I suspect it is fast becoming another one of the Leftist canards.

    JD (f7900a)

  19. Phil – You can almost hear it screaming “I’m MELTING! I’m MEEEELTING!”

It’s you with the CAPSLOCK that is screaming. And you and your lefty friends are screaming “look over here! Pay no attention!”

    Nice try at thread hijacking.

    Apogee (366e8b)

  20. Phil, meanwhile, we see the kind of supporters Obama has, Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers, Hamas …

tell us about hateful, you silly fraud.

    SPQR (26be8b)

  21. Phil – Why won’t the Obama campaign release the names and origination countries of all these suspect donors? Why the coverup?

    Apogee (366e8b)

  22. Again Phil – this is about the Obama campaign collecting large amounts of money from non-existent donors.

And your response is distraction. Must be something to it, or you would be calling for an investigation to ‘clear’ your candidate’s name.

    Apogee (366e8b)

  23. we see the kind of supporters Obama has, Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers, Hamas …

yes, SPQR, but they aren’t screaming so to Phil it makes them a-okay.

Even Farrakhan, when announcing Obama the messiah this week, didn’t scream it. And that’s the most important distinction, no?

    Meh.

    Dana (658c17)

  24. Well for Phil, looking out for “the blacks” is a full-time job.

    Jack Klompus (b0e238)

  25. JD,

I wish Obama would disclose all his contributors’ names, something I understand McCain does even though it’s not required. But if it isn’t required then the FEC rules need to be changed and we can’t blame Obama if he is abiding by the current rules. (I assume these rules have their origins in a time when internet contributions were rare, but they aren’t now.)

On the other hand, I can blame Obama for his inability to police his own campaign fundraising. After all, when his primary claim for executive experience is that he’s running a great campaign, things like this ought to be fair game and, indeed, highlighted.

    DRJ (c953ab)

  26. I can blame Obama for non-transparency, something that he has supposedly made a cornerstone of his campaign.

    Obama is simply a liar.

    Apogee (366e8b)

  27. DRJ, I mentioned it on the other thread but it would seem to apply to this – if there is nothing to worry about, and a need to establish integrity before a public you are asking to vote for you, then the seemingly natural response would be full disclosure – whether its required or not. Actually, that it is not required would make the act of full disclosure all the more honorable.

But then again we discussing the world of politics on the left…and that is not about logic nor honor.

    Dana (658c17)

  28. Oh, c’mon, folks. Phil is Just Another Troll™.

    He actually wrote:

“…see the kind of supporters McCain has — these are angry, hateful people….”

But he is ignoring all the angry, hateful comment about Sarah Palin (see Andrew Sullivan and his gyno-fixation, see the placards of protestors suggesting the governor “abort herself”, meet the people on my campus who literally have said, in faculty meetings, that they believe that “…Palin should not be allowed a voice in this election…”).

    So you have a choice.

    1. This troll is gob-smackingly unaware of his issues with psychological projection…

    Or…

    2. It’s yet another example of trolling by someone who needs to feel all tough and “in your face” about politics.

While living at home with their parents, I’d wager.

    Eric Blair (2708f4)

  29. Eric, Phil is not merely a troll but an overt fantasist. His comments are filled with utter fabrication.

  31. If anyone is to blame for the lack of disclosure rules, it is the authors of McCain-Feingold, who had the chance to put into law disclosure rules for internet donations.
But, that would have been too close to the Unlimited Contribution/Instant Disclosure regime that McConnell of KY was proposing, so of course, it was ignored, and we are where we are.

John, this is one of those things that bite, real hard.

    Another Drew (2a4150)

  32. these are angry, hateful people.

Said the commenter who previously has called our troops rape – happy Killbots.

    Dmac (cc81d9)

  33. Now, there you go again, Dmac. Expecting trolls who are only trying to bicker pay attention to their previous statements.

It’s “The Argument Room,” right out of Monty Python.

    Eric Blair (2708f4)

  34. I denounce myself, Eric.

    Dmac (cc81d9)

  35. What?

My friends Mike Hunt, I.P. Freely, Adam Bomb, Cal Culator, and Douglas S. Halfempty are all Obama supporters

    Amanda Hugginkiss (2cf1dd)

  36. It is the media that is perpetuating the myth it is McCain’s supporters who are racist and so forth. It is a big lie. Obama’s color doesnt matter – it is his character we are judging as Dr ML King suggeted. The media does not vet or report anything negative about Obama and tries to slant all negatives onto McCain. But that is the grand plan of Marxism – whoever controls the media controls the world. That is why we are angry – we are misrepresented and the hate from Obama’s side is not shown. Conservatives have been viled by the left for so long and it shown by the media as constructive criticism – let us say something and we are racist. The name calling of Bush and Palin has been horrible and personal but nothing was done – let us say things about issues concerning Obama and we are the bad ones. If elected he will not be my President. I will hope and pray that somehow a media outlet will arise to give REAL news and facts until he is out of office. Now the Dems want to produce more giveaways once he is elected. Do they realize that college is not for everyone, that we don’t owe anyone anything, that industries must rise and fall on their own merits – gov’t stay out!

    Krys (6afa35)

  37. Obama gave the money back to George Soros, the media knows that, they don’t have to ask silly questions.

  38. Peaceful Hamastinian Suicide Bombers For Obama ramp up donations in advance of election and negotiations with stinking corpse of Israel for two state solution to Mid East crisis. Secretary of State Rashid Khalidi to moderate.

    daleyrocks (d9ec17)

  39. It looks as though much of the late Obama money is coming from overseas. That’s why WLS was wrong about him running out of money. Think outside the box like Obama. Once he is elected, there will be no inquiry.
