  10. DRJ, or Patterico,
    I did NOT leave comment # 6:17 p.m.
Can someone please check the IP on that?

I lose my sense of humor pretty quick when people start sockpuppeting me with stuff I’d never say.
    Thanks for your help.

  12. EW1(SG) —

Yesterday you wrote: Obama would have some trouble leading a bunch of kindergartners out of a classroom during a fire drill.

I have experienced a vision of what that would sound like:

    – Obama: Okay, children. We’re uh, uh, uh, we’re going to exit the building now. [Pause] We — we — we’s, uh, I, uh, I know that some of you want to go that way; [Pause for effect] and I, uh, I know that others of you want to go in a different direction — and that’s okay; I understand that. But, uh, what we as Americans have to do, is, uh, we have to act collectively . . . uh, you know, for the uh, uh, the common good. So, what I propose to do is, uh, uh, if — if you will [*crackle*] agree to do your part [*sizzle*], and uh, uh, uh, commit to performing community service [*choke*], now wait — now wait just a moment; hear me out, now [*sputter*][*gasp*][*wheeze*]. Just a couple hundred hours per year, that’s all [Pause] That’s all. You guys [*collapse*], you, uh, you’re young — you’re young, and let me tell you [“Mr. Obama, I can’t breathe!”], there is nothing more, uh, uh, gratifying [“Help!”], more, uh, soul-lifting [“I’m burning up!”], more, uh, uh, uh, uh, [Pause], more uh, you know; it, it, it’s a special time [“Now I lay me down to sleep”] in, in, in your lives is what I’m trying to say; and you [*rattle*], you should grab onto it. So what do you say, kids? [Long pause] Uh, uh, uh, uh, kids?

Thanks EW1(SG); relieved to hear it, but would still like the IP checked in case the person decides to come back and I’m not around (obviously they seem new). Hate coming on a blog to find I’ve already been there spouting who knows what all. 🙂

DRJ? Patterico? Wonder if they’re around.

I have experienced a vision of what that would sound like:

Funnily enough (although far from being humorous), that’s very similar to my own vision.

I really don’t watch the campaign commercials, but I did get smacked in the face with part of one where O!warrior is promising to out-“Commander in Chief” McCain by being tougher on terrorist threats. I was dumbfounded~and immediately the vision you described above was seared into my brain!

No laughing matter. And in a cartoon thread, no less. Sorry.

Glad I checked in again before turning in. That was quick, DRJ; thanks again.

    no one you know (1ebbb1)

  20. Actually, Icy Truth…I like your vision of the O!ne’s example of leadership so much that I’d like your permission to reprint it on my own website, if you don’t mind?

    EW1(SG) (84e813)

  21. EW1(SG) — Permission granted, and Thank you!

    Icy Truth (ab2f41)

  22. I like america’s IP will remain permanently banned. Spoofing other people’s monikers is a capital offense.

    Patterico (cc3b34)

  23. Patrick,
Someone used my name the other day, too. But I just saw it once, so I didn’t say anything.

    Patricia (ee5c9d)

  24. Aw, c’mon! Now I can’t respond to his next post by addressing him as “no one you want to know”.

    Icy Truth (ab2f41)

  25. Patricia,

I checked and there is another person who posted 6 comments during July-September 2008 under the name Patricia. However, no one from that IP address has posted here at another time so I suspect that is her name.

If you both post on the same thread in the future, you may want to add an initial or some way everyone can tell you apart.

    DRJ (7568a2)

  26. i love america’s desperation becomes even more apparent…

    Dana (213b94)

  27. Dana, I think we are all misunderstanding “i love america”‘s nickname. It’s not patriotism, and it isn’t ironic.

She/he is just a fan of “Ugly Betty.”

Trolls. What will they think of next?

Thank you, and I sure hope you ain’t one of them folks as hate colorized movie pitchers!

    EW1(SG) (84e813)

  29. Slightly off topic: Anyone watching Saturday Night Live tonight (Michael Phelps as host)? It’s a non-stop Sarah Palin bashfest. For good measure, both Alaska in particular and “flyover” country in general are targeted.

    JVW (6c4300)

  30. I thought Tina Fey (who I love) did an amazing impression. As for the “bashfest” — after Gibson’s condescending stern-father grill-fest, I thought this was rather tame by comparison.

    Icy Truth (ab2f41)

  31. I sure hope you ain’t one of them folks as hate colorized movie pitchers!

    — You use “colorized” in relation to a critique of Obama?

    Racist!

But seriously, how exactly are you going to change the presentation/perspective?

    Icy Truth (ab2f41)

  32. #33 Icy Truth:

    But seriously,

Its up, so you can see for yourself http://EW1.Ingram.bz.

The only changes made were to deemphasize the background scene, then attempt to bring it into more focus with increasing font and color emphasis as the scenario unfolds.

    Haha now that’s funny.

  35. “I like america’s IP will remain permanently banned.”

Not that it matters at this point, but that sockpuppetry had previously occured on earlier threads before the weekend. So thank you for taking that step – that Troll not only had nothing to offer, it wasn’t even worthy enough to be mocked.

    Dmac (e639cc)

  36. But Pat, you should have put at least the first one on the front page, so we’d get some color on the site!

Well, at least I know that the cuter Dana really is a Dana, so I try to differentiate, and have some fun with it at the same time.

    The greying Dana (556f76)

  38. Depending upon which computer I’m using, or whether I’m using Firefox of AOL, I can easily have three different IP addresses show up. And people using AOL all show up with the same (out of a group of about a hundred) IP addresses.

so we’d get some color on the site!

Pahlleeeeze don’t go there: my wife is already yammering at me about how I should tell the proprietor here that he needs to change his HTML ’cause the place hurts her eyeballs.

Giving her a bit of color on the front page is like throwing bloody goat bits into the Gulf in a shark zone …

    EW1(SG) (84e813)

  40. OT – EW1(SG)
When I clicked on your site I got two notifications of a Trojan infection. Both were listed as web trackers and I know that some legitimate programs are flagged by AV programs due to the way they operate. (Just to be sure I tried a second time and got the same result both times.)

    Have Blue (974cdf)

  41. A cartoon of the GOP getting pulled out of the grave doesn’t give the Democrats any reason to worry Pat.

The bounce is over now anyway and Palin, because of all of her lies and scandalous record, will be a negative in about a week anyway.

    Psyberian (9f6817)

  42. Psyberian,

There’s been a series of comments here that I thought sounded a lot like you. I asked if it was you several times. However, I’ve seen no response.

Have been using a different handle lately? If not, then I apologize in advance, but I still would like a direct answer, thanks.

    Ropelight (921f6e)

  43. “The bounce is over now anyway…”

Yeah, that must be why every single Sunday newstalker this morning was featuring Palin, front and center. No question, that bounce is gone…

Do you actually read/see the news, or just the daily talking points from Koz?

    Dmac (e639cc)

  44. I loved them….

    And DRJ… You have a sister? 😉

    Scott Jacobs (61a241)

  45. This is my first comment in a while Ropelight. I’ll try to find what you’re talking about.

Dmac, if you would stop selectively reading only what you want to see, you would know that bounce from the convention is over.

    Psyberian (9f6817)

  46. Pahlleeeeze don’t go there: my wife is already yammering at me about how I should tell the proprietor here that he needs to change his HTML ’cause the place hurts her eyeballs.

    Whaddya mean?

    Patterico (cc3b34)

  47. “The bounce is over now anyway”

Really? Psyberian, you could have fooled me:

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/polls/

Before both conventions, you were beating us by 3-4 points in most polls and now we’re beating you by 2-4 points in most polls.

We’re only behind you by three in New Jersey.

We’re tied with you in Minnesota.

If you want to insist this is the normal state of affairs…okay.

    Anon (03ab2e)

  48. Anon, I’m not going to bicker about whether the bounce is over, but I will stand by my prediction that Palin will not be good for McCain by election time.

    Psyberian (9f6817)

  49. Psyberian, that’s fine, but you were fairly confident the bounce was over – what was the reason?

    Anon (03ab2e)

  50. Do go to a lot of trouble for me Psy, just say yes or no if you’ve left comments here in the last two weeks under some other name. Thanks again.

    Ropelight (921f6e)

  51. By election time, we’ll see that Palin was a net positive for McCain and Biden a net negative for Obama.

    SPQR (26be8b)

  52. No Ropelight, that wasn’t me.

    Psyberian (9f6817)

  53. No, ILA was funnier and made no effort to discuss issues.

Well, that it itself would be interesting. Kind of puts a new meaning to the expression, “C’mere, Chum.”

One wonders if our esteemed host will remember this prognostication in a week or so, when it becomes apparent that Mrs Palin has remained a positive.

    The older Dana (556f76)

  57. Whaddya mean?

I merely pointed out that with there being no definition between comments, it’s impossible for me to read without getting a headache.

Alternating backgrounds, a comment box perhaps, for the love all things holy…a dotted line!

It’s true, CSS is your friend.

Interesting…pretty plain vanilla, and usually sufficiently low traffic that it doesn’t draw much attention from teh haxxors.

    Thanks guys.

Oh, and Pat~ she said she’s stop in … lesse, I don’t think she likes white on black, and I don’t think she likes black and white, and I think she’s pretty picky, and I think I’m probably gonna end up on the couch tonight.

    EW1(SG) (84e813)

  59. #43 Have Blue: Its the embedded videos from youtube~ which have embedded site tracking in them, soon as I get out from under the house I’ll edit it out.

    Thanks.

And Pat? My wife is somewhat like Pauline Kael, in that she doesn’t know anybody who doesn’t know how to write html & css & all that stuff (except me, and I ain’t gonna tell her otherwise).

In slightly less than 1½ hours, the goalposts have moved from the 21th of September to the 4th of November, from one week to seven. That isn’t a slight adjustment, but an order of magnitude (or seven) in your argument.

Psy, the reason you’re wrong is that the vast majority of Americans don’t read political blogs, not even mine!, and the things our friends on the left are trying to set up to use against Mrs Palin won’t be read and closely analysed by them; they’ll just see what are perceived as unfair attacks.

Haven’t you noticed? The more bovine feces that is thrown at Mrs Palin, the more people support her.

The Dana with the calculator (556f76)

  61. Wait, what? You don’t know html and CSS? I think I’ve been taken in by false advertising.

    Mrs. EW1 (84e813)

  62. Obama, McCain dead even in Minnesota – must be all that global warming making the blue bloods see red.

    papertiger (7e1f91)

  63. papertiger, having the loon Al Franken on the DFL Senate ticket is probably going to end up hurting the DFL in Minnesota up and down ticket.

  64. The Al Franken decade is shaping up to be more like a New York minute.

  65. The Star-Tribune poll has been … broken for years. I doubt with the cutbacks that it’s been fixed. Well, it seems always to be fixed.
