   neither one of them was any great loss to the gene pool, and it’s likely there’s a sharp drop off in violent crime in that neighborhood for awhile.

This illustrates something I’ve noticed in several newspaper reports: Illegal immigrants who commit crimes often prey on other illegal immigrants and foreigners who may be less willing to report the crimes. Strict enforcement of policies that deport illegals who commit crimes protects everyone but especially other illegal immigrants.

   A woman who knew one of the burglars gunned down by Pasadena homeowner Joe Horn told police she had warned her friend that his habit of breaking into homes would cost him his life, according to recently released police records.

   As part of a 31-page police report, Diamond Morgan, 24, of Houston, told Pasadena police investigators that she knew Diego Ortiz was a criminal.

   Detectives interviewed Morgan, who had a child with Ortiz, a few days after the killings.

   I’m trying to figure out why Ruth Rendon, the author of this report, would downplay Morgan being the mother of the burglar’s child, and simply refer to her as someone Ortiz “knew.”

   This report adds this quote from Diamond Morgan:

   “(Morgan) stated at one point she was ‘jealous and envious’ of Ortiz because she felt like God did not punish him for his sins and God punished everyone else for their sins.”

   And this link has a copy of the statement by the police officer that saw the shooting.

10. I was in Harris County on biz last year when this happened. Pasadena is a suburb of Houston that is very near the Johnson Space Center south of downtown towards Kemah/Galveston.

    anyway, local talk radio was on fire for days afterward, and the overwhelming response: Horn was a local hero and there was no way on earth a Texas jury would ever convict him on any charge more serious than jaywalking.

    I also talked with lots of Houston locals about it and every single one of them…bartenders, gas station jockeys, hotel managers, airport workers, average folks all…thought that Horn did nothing wrong.

    Moral of the story: if you dont want to get shot to death while robbing people, dont mess with Texas.

    it seems the “little people” of TX have a better grasp on this problem than many of the communitariat.
    All too often we listen (and follow) the wrong people.
    And, we’re looking forward to a recidivism rate for these two of zero.

    They sometimes make pretty darn good professional athletes. But I guess if Ortiz could was strong enough to play with the big boys, he wouldn’t be picking on Asian immigrants, presumably with the expectation they generally are smaller.

13. May all criminals suffer the same fate, regardless the background or family. This probably should span over to some of the elected crooks in Congress as well.
    Bet we would see a balanced budget pretty quick!
