Mother Glad Her Baby Survived Abortion

Jodie Percival’s first son died of a kidney condition, “and the second was born with serious kidney damage.” So when she got pregnant again, she decided to abort the baby.

Deciding to terminate at eight weeks was just utterly horrible but I couldn’t cope with the anguish of losing another baby.

Except that her baby survived the abortion.

Apparently it happens fairly often with early terminations. The doctor just misses the baby.

So the mom decided to have him after all.

He was born three weeks premature. “He had minor kidney damage but is expected to lead a normal life.”

Here are mom and son:

Mom says:

I still struggle to believe just what he has fought through. Now he’s here I wouldn’t change it for the world.

It’s a story that leaves you shaking your head, on several levels.

  1. Get a load of the expression on the baby’s face, particularly the eyes. It’s as if someone just explained the story to him and he was thinking, “Mom tried to do what?

  2. I don’t believe this story. The abortionist “missed”? BS.

  3. Of cource you don’t…

It’s life afirming, and doesn’t accuse Bush of anything horrible…

  4. I’ve spent eight year defending Bush. I didn’t defend him during his railroading of Ramos and Compean though. That is what you are whining about here.

BS stories that are “life affirming” are still BS.

    May both lead good lives.

  7. However, doctors told the couple from Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, that this child was likely to survive, so they decided he deserved a chance.

Lucky kid that he made it to 19 weeks. Apparently at eight weeks he didn’t deserve the same chance. But then again, that is the conundrum of the pro-choice crowd, isn’t it?

  8. Gee, nobody ever survives an abortion–it must be a hoax!

    Thank goodness the kid lived.

  9. I used to work litigation support for abortion malpractice, and failed abortion is a fairly common reason for suing.

Sometimes the woman has a double uterus and the abortionist vacuums out the wrong side. Sometimes the woman is pregnant with twins and the abortion only kills one. Sometimes the suction just misses somehow, not too surprising considering how many facilities rush as many women through as quickly as possible.

The fact that so many of these women change their minds and have the baby ought to cast a lot of doubt on the claim that abortions are so badly “needed”. After all, if she really, really needs for the baby to die or her life will be utterly ruined, wouldn’t that “need” still be there weeks later when the baby’s survival is discovered?

…if only more women could find out before its too late, the wonder of what they are nurturing and housing in their womb.

  12. I’m not really understanding the point of this post. Do women who suffer post-natal depression and don’t cope very well with their children prove the opposite of whatever point you’re making, or does the head shaking only work in one direction?

  13. I’m not really understanding the point of this post.

Yeah, only somebody who appreciates the difference between that beautiful baby and a lump of tissue in a hospital incinerator would.

    nk (be56c0)

  14. On one hand, we have a woman who gets all the downsides of being pregnant, plus various health problems from the operation, and the kid is dead. Suicide rates go way up, depression is common years later.

On the other, we have woman who MIGHT get post-partum depression, has a tiny chance of complications from the birth, and a live kid. Parents may get depressed when cute baby turns into teenager….

  15. j curtis epitomizes the liberal, not to mention atheist, rationale: that man, by virtue of being the highest form of life on earth, is capable of achieving perfection. Within such a mindset it’s no wonder that a statement like The abortionist “missed”? BS, springs forth.

Ironically, in the case of a proclaimed medical miracle (recovery from an ‘irreversible’ coma, etc) j curtis most likely would CORRECTLY state that the situation reveals the limitations of medical knowledge, as opposed to being proof of a genuine miracle. But when the situation involves a political issue, all objectivity goes out the window.

Nah, it’s just that this woman figures that she would be seen as a monster for bringing another sick child into this world that society will need to spend millions of dollars on so this excuse was dreamed up.

What is the name of the doctor and the hospital that botched the abortion? How is it that they escape mention in the story?

She claims she wrote an angry letter to the hospital and the hospital wrote back with an apology? Is there a lawyer in the house?

    j curtis (c84b9e)

  17. Never understood the liberal mindset of situational ethics between an innocent fetus and adoration for the rights of criminals. Baby bad…Mumia abu Jamal good or at least not worthy of execution for murder. Terrorists must not be made uncomfortable and deserve same legal status as American citizens. Aborted Baby has right to choice (Die sucker- momma don’t want inconvenience). Then you also have the pro-life, anti-condom Catholic church at least tolerating an insane slug like Fr. Pfleger who supports “choice”. And for many of the sheeple abortion is THE litmus test for next Potus. Impending marxist march means nothing. Crappy socialist health care as seen in utopian Europe and Canada is “Fair” to the masses. Ugh.

That is possibly one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever read.
“Ooh, I don’t want to kill my less than perfect baby, so let’s just lie that I tried!”

    What next, a news story:
“A man is suspected of finding and disarming a bomb in a disabled children’s treatment center– police are holding him for questioning in relation to this monsterous act”?

Well, hell, j curtis, the solution is in your hands. Do you have a bottle of Tylenol? They say that thirty tablets of regular strength is enough but why don’t you take a hundred just to make sure.

It’s just fact that this child, like her other children, will run up millions of dollars in medical bills during his life. Who is supposed to pay for it?

    That isn’t a rhetorical question. It’s a legal question.

    j curtis (c84b9e)

  21. I can’t believe that you’re still going on about this after seeing the picture of that baby. You are a T-4-Nazi, eugenicist, Ronulan.

  22. They should arrest the doctor for attempted murder.

    rudedaddy (03ffb5)

They should arrest the doctor for attempted murder.

If there really was a doctor in this case, and it isn’t a hoax ( as I suspect it is ), then I’d expect the doctor would be more likely to be arrested for failing to murder the developing child.

    j curtis (c84b9e)

  24. j curtis –
So, how much is YOUR humanity worth?

    Foxfier (15ac79)

  25. Honestly, I’m not sure if I’m more offended by your Darwinist-capitalism view of human life or by your rather insane insistence that no abortion is ever a failure.

Gienna Jessen, and others listed here were “missed” in one way or another.

I can’t believe that comment got typed. I really can’t.

One question (the most charitable of many) that your comment brings to mind is: precisely how much less sick would this child need to be to tip your personal financial scales and make his life “worth” saving?

    no one you know (1ebbb1)

  27. “…then I’d expect the doctor would be more likely to be arrested for failing to murder the developing child.”

So you are obviously against abortion.

Yet, because the baby was less than perfect, making him unacceptable and would cost a lot of money to care for him, it would have been a justifiable murder?

Margaret Sanger would be so proud of you.

I don’t think you realize yet that you are on the side of supporting this woman’s choice to bring 20 seriously defective children onto this planet. I should say, if that is what she wants to do, you will support it, no matter how many billions it will cost the rest of us to care for her little bundles of joy.

If there is some number of offspring where you would draw the line and no longer support her choice to keep giving birth to seriously defective babies, you would be denying the world of the little cuties…just like your Margaret Sanger would assumeldy do.

If the socialist system didn’t exist that makes it possible for some woman to give birth to several defective babies that can get the best care that taxpayer money can provide, you would create the socialism to make it possible. You would be a Sanger if you didn’t, forcing her to abort because she can’t afford the medical care.

If I could only persuade your mother to abort you, j curtis. Your serious defects scream out to the world.

    nk (0e7da1)

I don’t wish your mother would have aborted you, but if your mother had seen fit to administer a few timely slaps upside your head, it might have done you a world of good.

    j. curtis – Are you recommending a system of enforced sterilization? Cool, who would you start with and how would the list proceed?

    daleyrocks (d9ec17)

  32. Really? Would that work now maybe? COme here, curtis… Let me test this new theory on you…

  33. Yet, because the baby was less than perfect, making him unacceptable and would cost a lot of money to care for him, it would have been a justifiable murder?

    This. Is. SPARTA!!!!

    Scott Jacobs (d3a6ec)

  34. j. curtis – Based on the ronulan writings I think I could take a guess at prioritization of your sterilization list, but I don’t want to steal your thunder. Plus, Nor Luap claims he doesn’t know who wrote those articles except for the ones he does, including the ones about arming yourself because the blacks in the cities were coming to get you.

    You mean they aren’t? Shit…

What am I gonna do with this case of Negro Repelant the drunk hobo sold me? Sure it SAYS it’s hairspray, but he TOLD me it wasn’t…

    Scott Jacobs (d3a6ec)

  36. Scott – Don’t drink it. That’s the oldest trick in the book. How do you think the hobos get the money to get drunk. They sell stuff to rubes like you. That stuff’s really probably just hobo piss. Go back and light the fucker on fire.

    daleyrocks (d9ec17)

  37. Damnit!!!

Next you’ll tell me he wasn’t REALLY a volcano insurance salesman…

    Scott Jacobs (d3a6ec)

  38. Scott – Everybody needs volcano insurance.

    daleyrocks (d9ec17)

  39. The level that I’m shaking my head on is the one where you presume to pass any kind of judgement on this woman and her decisions about her own life.

  40. She should have been sterilized!

    rudedaddy (738545)

  41. You make me so sick! you don’t deserve to even take a breath of air. Its a miracle that baby survived, when he gets older, you can tell him how you tried to kill him and see what his reaction will be. You don’t deserve to be a mother, how dare you even bring an innocent victim into this world.
There are women out there who can’t conceive and you’re trying to kill a life growing inside of you because of your selfish ways. God can take away life, not you or your stupid doctor who performed that abortion.
If you didn’t even have that abortion, your baby couldve served a full 8-9 month term and not be born so early. You don’t know what the outcome will be because of his condition, only God knows
Anyways, you should be tried for attempted murder, you cold hearted pig. That childs life will still never be right BECAUSE OF YOU!

    Kristina (fb1747)

  42. Kristina’s right. Can’t believe the inhumanity of all this, but, there it is. A lot of you lawyers (the majority?) are disgusting (as is the baby’s mom), but, to be fair, so are many lesser mortals generally.
