Michelle Obama on Why Barack Can’t Put Hillary Away
[Guest post by DRJ]
Don Surber notes an interview with Michelle Obama in The Telegraph in which she says Barack is frustrated, angry, and “sick of the battle against Hillary:”
“Part of the problem may be this quote: Mrs. Obama said: “We were taught that you don’t rip your opponents to pieces, you don’t leave them on the roadside.”
In other words, Obama has had Enough. Give him what he wants.

Oh, that insufferable woman!

by Publius II
There once was a man named Obama
His life began with drama
An African Muslim father
And a wild white mama
Obama’s white grandparents
They gave him a charmed life
Raised on the beaches of Hawaii
Far from ghetto strife
He went to private schools
Fourteen thousand dollars a year
Working-class white folks
They were nowhere near
He attended Columbia
Then Harvard Law
A very soft and liberal upbringing
Something Americans eventually saw
He then went to Chicago
Nation of Islam, Farrakhan, Black Panthers and Jackson
The only friends he made
All from the extreme left-wing faction
He joined a radical church
His Pastor downright insane
Blacks and whites, he said
Think with different parts of their brain
His church praised a man named Cone
With hateful opinions he was filled
He said white people were “the devil”
And Gods who love whites must be killed
Obama first ran for State Senate
With permission from Chicago’s Marxist King
A domestic terrorist named Ayers
Obama kissed his ring
He wrote a book called “Dreams From My Father”
From start to finish a racist rant
After people finally read it
They later said: “Obama, no we can’t”
He wrote how he rejected his mother’s race
And that Malcolm X was a hero
People had a clear warning
Obama was a dangerous zero
He was then elected to the U.S. Senate
Obama’s ego grew very bold
He barely served a year
I will run for President was the story he told
He spent millions to stage rallies
The crowds would yell and cheer
But then it all fizzled after he said
Typical white folks cling to religion, guns and beer
His wife said America was mean
She was never really proud
Her Black Separatist thesis at Princeton
Became a campaign cloud
People said he was a Muslim
His supporters scoffed and jeered
Then his Black Liberation Church was exposed
And Obama’s ugly head was reared
He tried to recover in a speech on race
The radical left-wing media offered raves
But he said white folks had an “untrained ear”
And abolitionists in Pennsylvania turned over in their graves
He claimed to be a uniter
He would bring people together all at once
But after his speech in Philadelphia
He proved to be a demographic dunce
He tried once more to persuade whites
But his bowling was a mess
He rolled a 37
Like a 5-year-old girl in a sundress
He then played basketball
He drove the ball to the rack
But when all was said and done
He looked like an old man having a heart attack
He wouldn’t cover his heart
As the National Anthem played
It’s a meaningless gesture he said
But Americans felt betrayed
He wouldn’t wear a flag pin
It was against his One World view
It doesn’t matter he said
And the American people stewed
He first called terrorist Ayers his friend
Then said this man he didn’t really know
More deceit and cover-ups
Obama’s lies began to grow
Farrakhan, Jackson and Sharpton
Three of Obama’s greatest fans
He tried hiding them in the closet
So not to further offend the white man
Then came his anti-American Pastor
Obama’s mentor for 20 years
He preened, shucked and jived
White people rose up and sneered
NBC and the New York Times
They tried each day to save Obama’s campaign
But real Americans said “FU”
And Obama spiraled down the drain
The radical left-wing Democrats
Publius II (4de1af) — 5/4/2008 @ 3:19 pmA Presidential race lost once again
Is it really a surprise
They’ve lost 7 of the last 10?
The Obamas don’t rip their opponents to pieces, they force them out of the race by challenging the # of signatures. Then there is no unpleasant primary race to worry about.
Daryl Herbert (4ecd4c) — 5/4/2008 @ 3:38 pm#3 or get a friendly Chicago hack judge to release an opponent’s sealed divorce records. So Seven of Nine’s marital discord has a big bearing on why the Great “Uniter” became US senator. I wonder how Ditka might have fared in that race instead of carpetbagger Alan Keyes. Of course Hillary as carpetbagger was fine, as was RFK.
madmax333 (8f5028) — 5/4/2008 @ 5:02 pmHow dare those people keep campaigning and voting instead of giving Obama what he deserves ? Don’t they know it’s time for a black president ? Who cares if he has a low testosterone level? The War on Terror is just a bumper sticker anyway.
Mike K (86bddb) — 5/4/2008 @ 5:14 pmPresident of the USA is not an affirmative-action position – candidates have to earn it.
Perfect Sense (b6ec8c) — 5/4/2008 @ 5:20 pm“In other words, Obama has had Enough.”
It looks more like he doesn’t want to tear apart the party whose nomination he’s seeking. The selective reading here is amazing.
stef (df613b) — 5/4/2008 @ 5:21 pmIf that is indeed true, then he will drop out of the race, and give it to Clinton…
If, that is, he’s interested in keeping his party from being “torn apart”…
Scott Jacobs (d3a6ec) — 5/4/2008 @ 5:27 pm“It looks more like he doesn’t want to tear apart the party whose nomination he’s seeking. The selective reading here is amazing.”
Beats inventing motivations from whole cloth, like that line.
SPQR (26be8b) — 5/4/2008 @ 5:38 pmThe selective reading here is amazing.
That you would accuse others of selective reading, stef, is pure comedy gold.
Paul (266a05) — 5/4/2008 @ 6:00 pmAnd such an accusation is made even more hilarious after reading your response to DRJ here.
Paul (266a05) — 5/4/2008 @ 6:04 pm“Barack is always thinking three steps ahead – what do we need to do to make change.”
Thank you. Here. Keep the change.
nk (1e7806) — 5/4/2008 @ 6:05 pmImagine if Obama won. Think of the speeches Michelle would make. Over the top with affirmative-action glop.
Jack (b56000) — 5/4/2008 @ 8:36 pm“That you would accuse others of selective reading, stef, is pure comedy gold.”
I wonder if whe was able to dodge the lightning bolts after that accusation.
Huge blinking neon hypocrisy sign.
She won’t understand.
daleyrocks (906622) — 5/4/2008 @ 8:53 pmOnce again, Michelle Obama comes across as absurdly entitled as she has for some time.
Vermont Neighbor (747787) — 5/5/2008 @ 2:29 amWhy is it that Hillary is being accused of potentially tearing apart the party? The nomination is as much hers as it is Baracky’s at this point in time.
JD (75f5c3) — 5/5/2008 @ 5:27 am“The nomination is as much hers as it is Baracky’s at this point in time.”
I understood the numbers to be that it was much more Obama’s than Clinton’s. DRJ posted earlier about “obama’s numbers.” But I haven’t been following them that closely.
stef (2ed38c) — 5/5/2008 @ 6:13 amMichelle Obama has a tendency to preach defeatism on the campaign trail, which is sort of a novel approach to politics.
For example, she likes to tell audiences that every time Obama wins, “they keep setting the bar higher”, implying that there’s no way he can win the nomination because the Big Conspiracy won’t allow it.
Apparently Michelle is used to getting everything she wants by whining, and doesn’t understand why that doesn’t work in politics, too.
Glen Wishard (02562c) — 5/5/2008 @ 1:21 pmThe Numbers:
Neither of them can win on pledged delegates now absent Cook County-style election returns, ie 80% percent for one or the other.
Obama has a small lead in votes cast, but that’s only if you discount Michigan and Florida and count Cook County Illinois.
Obama took more delegates in caucus-based states. Because a caucus requires a participant to show up at a certain time and commit several hours to seeing it through, it rewards people with smaller numbers of more intense followers. People cheat in a variety of ways in caucus systems, mostly by confusing/discouring opposing voters in the caucus or by co-opting the running of the caucus to benefit one side or ther other.
Clinton took more delegates in big states where voting is done at voting booths. Actual voting rewards people with larger numbers of more casual followers who just want to vote and leave. People cheat in a variety of ways, such as by crossover voting (Republicans switching party identification temporarily for the primary to vote and so on) or by vote fraud of various kinds.
Pledged delegates, the ones determined by these votes and caucuses, generally but not always are required by the law of their state to vote as the vote of their state designated them to in the first ballot of the delegates. In the event that a candidate has enough pledged delegates to win, that makes their presence mostly ceremonial.
If that first vote does not produce the necessary winner (as it easily may not, given at least that John Edwards has a good chunk of the pledged delegates who must vote for him in that first vote) then those pledged delegates are free to vote their conscience.
Obama has about a 150 pledged delegate lead. There are something like 1000 superdelegates who can vote for whoever they like in that first vote. John Edwards has about 300 pledged delegates. For Obama to take that first vote, he has to get about 150 MORE superdelegates than Hillary to commit that first vote to him.
If the first vote is inconclusive, it’s time for the smoke-free back room, and everyone and everything is in play.
