Does the right hand at the NYT know what the left hand was doing just the day before? Or do these mutually inconsistent stories constitute “fair and balanced reporting” NYT style?
As the late Howard Cosell might have said, “I’ve got to know!”

Would that disease affect one’s memory of events that happend the day before?
Perfect Sense (b6ec8c) — 3/14/2007 @ 1:00 amIf you look closely, the later article is still a puff piece for Gore. It looks like an attempt to smooth off some of the hard edges – they may be some things wrong but he is right on the big picture?

Very interesting video on the corruption of science around global warming. Its long but very well done and well worth watching.

My guess is different writers/editors have differing opinions. As Al Gore has recently said that the media is wrong to publish “both sides”, because the anti-Global Warming is all nonsense, it’s refreshing to see anything quoting “non-republican not oil industry” scientists who are critical of the idea. Recently those who criticize “GW” have been put in the same category as Holocaust Deniers, and given as an example of how Republicans are anti-science.
Some time ago, Art Caplan, a prominent bioethicist at Penn, was talking about how dare people (read republicans) try to twist science for political purposes. (He was specifically referring to embryonic stem cell research).
MD in Philly (3d3f72) — 3/14/2007 @ 3:30 amI’m most amused that the company that sells Carbon Credits is partly owned by a certain ex-VP…
I wonder… Could he be profiting from this? Hmmmmmmm
Scott Jacobs (90eabe) — 3/14/2007 @ 4:57 amThe NYT is at it again today with a third long article on global warming; this one focuses on a guy who’s spent twenty years trying to wake the world up and is organizing demonstrations yet again.
If they keep shooting at the target (an article a day keeps global warming away?) the editors might finally hit something.
Mike Myers (4e1716) — 3/14/2007 @ 5:51 amThus answering the question I get all the time.
Q “Why don’t you read the NY Times anymore?”
A “Why should I? They don’t even read their own paper and if I want comedy, I’ll read FrnakJ.”
Veeshir (5f9b87) — 3/14/2007 @ 6:32 amThe whole global warming is a fruad and a lie its being carried out by unscruplous persons like politicians,left-wing journalists and enviromentalists radicals and the UN who want to control our lives its aworld wide consperacy carried out by underhanded evil persons
krazy kagu (444070) — 3/14/2007 @ 7:28 amNot to sound like an apologist to the New York Times, but the byline in the second article just says “The Associated Press,” and we all know which side of the global warmongering they’re on. It could also have been included as “news” since it’s reporting about statements made by some scientists.
The first article seems to be the one that’s actually written by a NYT reporter.
I was as surprised as every one else yesterday to read the first article from that paper. I’ve written off anything coming from the NYT because of the liberal bias, and several times I’ve rued the fact that I can’t cancel my subscription to them because I have already cancelled my subscription some time ago.
Anyway, I hope they get more reports like the first article out. They are still widely read, and people who have not been turned on to the internet should somehow get the facts straight on the global warming scam.
Anna (a3f39a) — 3/14/2007 @ 8:18 amIt seems that Gore expenses around 300k a year to “his” foundation which sells CC’s. They in turn pay out about ??% of their gross to projects. Of the total pay out, only 13% of that seems to be going to actual green projects. Fading memory about 28k$.
Actually saw the numbers but can’t remember where. If I find them I’ll update.

Does Al Gore Dream Of Becoming The World’s Global-Warming Junk Bond King ? (Updated)”
“Media Ignore Al Gore’s Financial Ties to Global Warming
Posted by Noel Sheppard on March 2, 2007 – 10:58.
As NewsBusters reported here, here, and here, there are huge dollars to be made from global warming alarmism. However, conceivably no one is better positioned to financially benefit from this scam than Dr. Global Warming himself, former Vice President Al Gore, a fact that the media will surely not share with Americans any time soon.”
“[H]ow Gore buys his “carbon offsets,” as revealed by The Tennessean raises serious questions. According to the newspaper’s report, Gore buys his carbon offsets through Generation Investment Management:
Gore helped found Generation Investment Management, through which he and others pay for offsets. The firm invests the money in solar, wind and other projects that reduce energy consumption around the globe…”
“The Gore-Milken Connection: Global-Warming Junk Bonds?
In April 2005, Al Gore gave an “engaging and accessible presentation” about the trends and implications of global warming to a rapt audience at the Milken Institute Global Conference in Beverly Hills.
In addition to touting his now-infamous global warming predictions, Gore also stated, “We can’t sell our cars in China… We don’t meet their environmental standards.””
“Is Al Gore’s Inconvenient Fiction a $250 Billion Scam?
A quick recap: Records show that Al and Tipper Gore paid a monthly gas-and-electric bill of $2,400 for their 20-room mansion and related outbuildings. That includes $500 a month for their poolhouse. Gore claimed that he bought “carbon offsets” to make up for his $30K annual energy tab. Where did he buy offsets? From Generation Investment Management (GIM), a firm which lists Gore as Chairman.”
Still can’t find the actual graph that was broken out by dollars gained, from whom, and expended. But I think the info came from this piece.
