Listening To “Jesus” [Shameless Plug Alert]

As a not-so-religious Jew, I listen to “Jesus” every week. You should too – especially since he happens to broadcast exclusively on the radio station that I work for. But apart from that, it is admittedly one of the most unique and fascinating shows happening in radio today. (And to think that I was in the same room when he first came into existence on the Bill Handel Show!)
The L.A. Weekly has now done a cover story on him in this week’s issue.
I catch KFI even from here in China (I have my methods and I’m not revealing ’em) and applaud Neil (Saavedra, the host/producer) for the spectacular job.
Neil manages to explain some of the more fundamental Christian tenets & philosophy to confused believers without mocking or disparaging religion, “organized religion,” and Christianity as is de rigeur nowadays.
Mind you, I’m not a shill for the show or station (I curse the Clear Channel ‘man’ for blocking streaming overseas) or even vaguely religious. Rather, I’ve had enough of the non-religious deriding opponents: “Well, you’re a Christian, so you think XXXX,” “If you do XXXX then you’re not true Christian,” or the ever-present “what about where the Bible says XXXX?” All from people with little, if any, clue about what Christian beliefs and theology really are.
My hat’s off to Neil for helping to explain in a respectful manner what they actually are.

I assume 6-9 is pacific time, 9-12 for us on the east coast.
I did peruse the listed bumper music. I didn’t expect to find “korn” on the list (from their reputation, can’t say I would know them if I heard them.) I was relieved NOT to find “Sympathy for the Devil” by the Stones.

It turns out that the access to all of KFI’s “ON DEMAND” podcasts is down and has been all day because of a server crash back east (affecting many sites). They are rebuilding it as we speak. I am told it will be up tonight or tomorrow – so check back then to experience the Jesus Show.

Not my loss at all. Handel has no street cred until he puts his twins in public school and lives in the ghetto. He’s a limousine liberal, disguised as a “conservative” talk show host.
Also: What kind of psuedo-american is Bill handel when he tells everyone he intends to move to Europe after he makes millions off of us little people?

Roller Cam (7a417c) — 3/11/2007 @ 2:43 pm“petit” is an absolute moron, who never heard the dozens of segements we did on MEChA, exposing their radical ways, even AFTER I told petit where to find them…and despite the fact that Handel DID ask Gustavo tough questions about being a member of the group, “petit” wasn’t satisfied.
Isn’t it funny that “petit” is still complaining about it over a year later? I sense someone still listens every day!
Sometimes a little research goes a LONG way, but I welcome a boycott from lazy people like “petit”, we want much smarter people listening to the show.
