Books Ordered
Thanks to an exceptionally generous gift by my wonderful mother-in-law, I am ordering the following books from Amazon:
Supreme Conflict: The Inside Story of the Struggle for Control of the United States Supreme Court – Jan Crawford Greenburg
L.A. Rex – Will Beall
I have already ordered three albums by the band “The Stereo” — the precedessor to “Let Go” — and there is still plenty left on this gift certificate.
She has no idea what joy these gifts bring me. Though I am going to do my best to tell her, starting with this post.
Why is it that mothers-in-law and sons-in-law love each other and mothers-in-law and daughters-in-law hate each other?
nk (5e5670) — 1/26/2007 @ 9:10 pmAs the saying goes, a son is a son until he takes a wife but a daughter’s a daughter for the rest of your life.
DRJ (e69ca7) — 1/26/2007 @ 9:45 pmWell, with all martinis and venom spewing from the lacquered orange lips, the restaurant patrons were treated to a dowager’s alcohol-fueled racist frenzy. Over an explosion of words that start with n, the daughter-in-law sat quietly with husband, glancing nervously for any recognizable friends or neighbors.
Ignore the behavior and it’s like ignoring a two-year old. The problem doesn’t stop. Years later, it’s clear it’s not the alcohol, just a need to dominate. At any cost.
Blessed are the kindly mothers-in-law. . . a necessary part of any good family tree.
