When Lefties Attack Lefties

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 11:30 pm

Break out the popcorn and watch with bemusement as leftist Glenn Greenwald excoriates influential leftist Congressman Rahm Emanuel for lying about his knowledge of the Foley e-mails.

It appears Emanuel was being, at a minimum, Clintonesque.

Now who could have taught him that?

  1. Rahm Emanuel is not a leftie.

  2. Patterico Mussolini speaks, live from Planet Franco.

You’re so delusional it’s almost charming

  3. Gosh AF, couldn’t you have worked Pinochet into your snappy little retort, seeing as how he has been in the news and all? Or are you really that dull-witted to begin with?

  4. If I used Pinochet I’m sure somebody would have tried to defend him, so I used his daddy instead.
    Capiche?

  5. Of course Emanuel is Clintonesque…he was
    one of Clinton’s favorite hatchetmen.

    Birds of a feather…

  6. How delightful. But, popcorn won’t do. I’m going to get myself a cold one, make a ham sandwich, put my feet up, kick back, and enjoy the moment. Heck, I might open a bag of potato chips and maybe even take the afternoon off.

I’m just trying to help you lefties avoid the trap of being so predictable. Why don’t you try out some new right-wing strongmen like Antonio Salazar (Portugal) or Rafael Trujillo (Dominican Republic)? It would certainly be better than always going to Mussolini or Franco. Sure the lesser dictators might be somewhat obscure, but you guys can always read Howard Zinn to learn all about them.

And there is no “h” in the word “capisce.” You might want to knock off trying to sound cosmopolitan; it doesn’t seem to work for you.

  8. 2nd person.
    “capisci?”

    Capiche?
    Kapeesh?
    Capeesh?

I’m not cosmopolotan I’m from Brooklyn.
    Who’s Howard Zinn?

  9. It seems safe to -this is made live? Interesting- put this story out now for the MSM. After all, the two-year elections are finished it can’t hurt the Democratic machine at all. And in fact this would be fairly easy to pop now for the larger AP-type organizations, making sure it’s well and truly an “old” story by the time it hits the presidential elections next November.

Have I noted how much I hate liveblogging of comments? It shows how…hesitant writing is. And how many mistakes I make before I have a finished product.

    Creepy!

  10. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that we lefties are better at criticizing our own than the Republican/Wingnut Lockstep Monkeys most of you conservatives have proven yourself to be during the course of the past six years.

I hope we can continue to reinforce this truth in the years ahead.

Sure, if you mean criticizing each other’s hairdos, tight leather pants and choice of Chablis at the wine and cheese party.

  12. Ah yes…criticism of Clinton was in full force by the Democrats during the 90’s. I remember how the Democrats criticized Clinton for the taking of the 900 FBI files, the misuse of the Oval Office, the trashing of the White House and OEOB once they left. I remember how the Democrats took their own to task during the Post Office and Bank Scandal in the House during their last time in the majority. As you can tell, this is sarcasm. When have the Democrats ever turned on each other? They defended nancy Pelosi’s choice of Alcee Hastings for Intellegence Committee and Senator Reid’s use of the office to raise funds for himself through land deals. Where are those democrat critics?

  13. Indeed, Liberal Avenger. I’m waiting for Patterico’s take on Mallard Fillmore’s DUI arrest.

  14. David,

Is that the one where the Capitol Police pulled him over at 1 in the morning after he rammed a vehicle barrier and he claimed to be on the way to the House floor to vote on something? And the police drove him home and insisted he be exempt from the SOP of breathalizer a test?

Or am I thinking about someone else?
