Centanni Released

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:51 pm

Michelle Malkin reports that Steve Centanni has been released — but only after he was forced (at gunpoint) to convert to Islam.

I don’t blame the guy. I’m glad he’s home with his family.

  1. FYI: Dan Riehl is at it again: he’s made yet another embarassing post, which he’s trying to cover up by deleting comments that point out flaws in his reasoning.

Riehl has initiated a smear campaign against S. R. Sidarth, the James Webb aide who Virginia Senator George Allen infamously called a “macaca.”

Riehl found a poster on an anonymous message board who changed his moniker to “S.R. Sidarth” after the incident, and assumed that the poster was in fact Sidarth. That assumption is ridiculous; the board has at least three people calling themselves some variant of “George Allen,” a number of Jesuses, posters calling themselves Bill Frist, Strom Thurmond, etc. In fact, the “S.R. Sidarth” poster has made comments about where he lives and goes to school that prove he isn’t the real Sidarth. Nonetheless, Riehl is falsely attributing several profane comments to Sidarth himself. He has also deleted numerous comments pointing out the flaws in his reasoning.

Riehl’s false accusations have spread to numerous other right-wing blogs.

  2. Gee, “I don’t blame the guy,” goes without saying.

Jesus resisted at the forfeiture of his life, but he understood full well that most people wouldn’t.

It’s like saying someone was forced to do anything at the point of a gun (sadly, rape comes to mind even though they’re not related) and saying, “I don’t blame the victim.”

    Well, duh.

Anyway, I just meant this as feedback on the language choice. Your sentiment is bang on and I realize you know at least one of the two Fox News people.

I share your relief that they were released unharmed.

I wonder if you’d consider doing a blog post on what I consider the true story behind they’re forced conversion: This is a microcosm of their plans for us.

To force us to convert and kill us if we resist.

This is their plan in a nutshell. I think it’s very telling that they revealed so plainly who they are.

  3. i don’t think gunpoint conversions count.
journalists seem to be deliberately targeted in this war. israel fired missiles at a clearly marked reuters van the other day. what’s the world coming to?

They don’t count to the convertee, but I’m sure the kidnappers and thier fellow travellers hold a different view.

journalists seem to be deliberately targeted in this war.

    The kidnapping clearly demonstrates that.

israel fired missiles at a clearly marked reuters van the other day.

Oh goody! Moral equivalence! Unless it didn’t happen. Then you’ll have to find something else to equate the obviously intentional targeting of Centanni and Wiig. I guess we’ll all have to stay tuned. But tell me, ada, how clear are vehicle markings when viewed from the air in the middle of the night?

  5. Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig get captured and convert to Islam while denouncing their country. After their release they praise the “beautiful” Palestinian people. They are now not Steve and Olaf, they are Khaled and Jakob.

Islamic jihads get captured and sent to Guantanamo. There they try to kill their jailers and pray to Mecca five times a day.

Compare and contrast. Discuss amongst yourselves.

Actually that’s almost certainly another blatantly staged anti-Israel hoax.

  7. Forced at gunpoint to switch to islam and thats the way of these radicals and he should now that he is home to renounce islam and call it the religion of violence

  8. The gunpoint conversion (and the videotaping that will be another hit in the Islamist world, right up there with the Allah Akbur Beheadings) effectively shuts down Centanni and Wiig from ever being assigned to cover stories in moslem dominated societies.

If they renounce their conversion, they are apostates. Any “good moslem” is under religious obligation to kill apostates wherever they happen upon them.

These men now carry a life-long contract on their lives.

    ************

A couple of journalists are kidnapped by Muslims who force them to convert to Islam at gunpoint, and who elicits ‘assistant devil’s advocate’s anger ?
    —well, Israel, naturally.
