Anyone looking for updates on the Greenwald kerfuffle should probably go to Ace’s. Keep in mind that this was his discovery (actually his commenter Shawn’s), not mine — I just provided him with some IP evidence. He seems to have quite a few posts looking at various angles of the thing. I understand he has people working on timelines or something. I haven’t had time to follow it all, as my blogging and reading time has been very limited over the past couple of days. I’ll probably have more this evening or during the weekend.

It appears that Glenn may have been sitting at his computer surfing away with his lover nearby. It is likely that GiGi came across certain writings on certain blogs that offended his superior moral sensibilities. Odds are that when this happened, GiGi displayed outward signs of emotional distress. At that point, Ms. Greenwald probably insisted that GiGi leave the computer and compose himself, at which time the doting, protective, Brazilian Ms. GiGi could sit down and give those right-wingnuts a good tongue thrashing. In perfect English. With 5 different names.

I do love Patterico’s mea culpa (seeing now that there is a sensible explanation) – he was just a member of the posse not it’s leader (just don’t look at the history of his posts exhibiting a bizarre Greenwald obsession).

Faced with escalating violent deaths in Iraq, Rick’s answer is to “persevere and win.” Much like the Bush administration, he has no answer for stopping the escalating atrocities or any idea of a change in plans to address the deteriorating security situation. That’s why he can only offer an empty slogan.
Gotta Know, on the other hand, opts for false facts and a strawman. Why stop at 100,000 deaths per year under Saddam; Hell, just say it was a million a month. The fact of the matter is Saddam was an atrocious dictator largely in the late eighties as to the Kurds and in ’91 to the Shiite rebels. But no source supports your made up numbers and, in fact, more people have died extrajudicial violent deaths in the three years following the war than in the three prior. The containment policy was largely successful in curtailing Saddam’s human rights abuses.
As for hugging Saddam, I think that was Dr. Rumslove. It’s good to know you didn’t join him but what the hell are you doing cuddling with Muqtada Al Sadr?
