Go to Ace for Your Greenwald Kerfuffle Needs

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:26 am

Anyone looking for updates on the Greenwald kerfuffle should probably go to Ace’s. Keep in mind that this was his discovery (actually his commenter Shawn’s), not mine — I just provided him with some IP evidence. He seems to have quite a few posts looking at various angles of the thing. I understand he has people working on timelines or something. I haven’t had time to follow it all, as my blogging and reading time has been very limited over the past couple of days. I’ll probably have more this evening or during the weekend.

  1. I condemn this post. Sorry Patterico, I had to do it.

  2. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Tell it to Mozart.

  3. Jesus, you people need a new hobby.

  4. That’s the first time in years that I’ve agreed with anything the left has ever said. It’s just so fun to poke one of the universe’s most pompous, self-important windbags.

Have you read GiGi’s stuff, JDK? I can’t stay awake through more than two paragraphs, and that’s after a Vente Double Latte. I mean, make your point, man!

See you at Ace’s Dan. JDK you should be at Daily Kos by now.

    Gotta Know (f41eca)

  5. a Vente Douche Latte? šŸ˜‰

Is that what you call a GiGi post?

  6. Bryan at Hot Air has put together an interesting timeline.

It appears that Glenn may have been sitting at his computer surfing away with his lover nearby. It is likely that GiGi came across certain writings on certain blogs that offended his superior moral sensibilities. Odds are that when this happened, GiGi displayed outward signs of emotional distress. At that point, Ms. Greenwald probably insisted that GiGi leave the computer and compose himself, at which time the doting, protective, Brazilian Ms. GiGi could sit down and give those right-wingnuts a good tongue thrashing. In perfect English. With 5 different names.

If that’s not love, I don’t know what is. I see a Movie of the Week in this.

  8. Off topic, but here’s a review of Oliver Stone’s World Trade Center that pretty much matches my original opinion of the trailer and my thoughts on how the movie may unfold:

Yeah, I can only do one or two Greenwald posts a day! But I’m over him, he’s just not worth it.

(Stay tuned for next Greenwald post on Patterico’s All-Greenwald Blog)

  10. mantis, you got a thing for Pat? You’re creeping me out, man.

PS. GiGi is a laugh riot! Who could look away?

    Pablo (efa871)

  11. As directed by Chairman Pat, Ace is the place! Check out this precious picture of Our Hero practicing his blog comment skills:

Mr. You’re All Jealous Of Him Yourownselves.

And admire the haircut, while you’re there. No need to suggest that to one “mantis,” I suspect.

  12. Don’t look now, but I can’t get into either Ace, or Confederate Yankee. Looks like this story has legs, Mantis.

I’m sure for righties this issue trumps having to come to grips with the monthly 9/11 (over 3,000 violent deaths) that is occurring in Iraq. Why waste your beautiful minds on contemplating how this came to be or what, if anything, can be done to stop it? There’s a leftwing blogger who posts through a server or router to get after.

I do love Patterico’s mea culpa (seeing now that there is a sensible explanation) – he was just a member of the posse not it’s leader (just don’t look at the history of his posts exhibiting a bizarre Greenwald obsession).

    Macswain (76d8da)

  14. Boy, when you folks on the Right obsess over something, you really go all out. Between this and the “Markos commands the lefty bloggers” BS, you’ve managed to bore thousands of blog readers on both sides to tears.

Can’t you guys get back to calling Michael Moore fat or talking about Ted Kennedy’s drinking habits? Or wait: Israel’s bombing hundreds of Lebanese civilians to death. That ought to get you guys going, right?

    Samurai Sam (f0a546)

  15. “…what, if anything, can be done to stop it? “

The answer’s always been the same: persevere and win. The *wrong* answer’s always been the same: appease/redeploy.

    Cordially…

    Rick (048868)

  16. Iā€™m sure for righties this issue trumps having to come to grips with the monthly 9/11 (over 3,000 violent deaths) that is occurring in Iraq.

McSwain, you silly twat, GiGi being a freakshow has exactly zero to do with Iraq. Now take Samurai Sam with you and go play human shield if you’re so deeply concerned about Iraqi sectarian violence.

    Pablo (08e1e8)

  17. Look Macswain, I’m sure you fret for the liberated Iraqis who no longer suffer 100k dead every year, give or take, under your loveboat Saddam. I’m much more interested in what would happen to the U.S. if radical islam gets nukes. But don’t worry your pretty little head, they just need a hug. Bad childhood, you understand.

    Gotta Know (f41eca)

  18. Does anyone know if Confederate Yankee is having a DOS attack? I haven’t been able to get through. He has a great post on the sock puppeteer.

    Gotta Know (f41eca)

  19. Rick & Gotta Know,

Thanks for the interesting insight into the mind of a conservative.

Faced with escalating violent deaths in Iraq, Rick’s answer is to “persevere and win.” Much like the Bush administration, he has no answer for stopping the escalating atrocities or any idea of a change in plans to address the deteriorating security situation. That’s why he can only offer an empty slogan.

Gotta Know, on the other hand, opts for false facts and a strawman. Why stop at 100,000 deaths per year under Saddam; Hell, just say it was a million a month. The fact of the matter is Saddam was an atrocious dictator largely in the late eighties as to the Kurds and in ’91 to the Shiite rebels. But no source supports your made up numbers and, in fact, more people have died extrajudicial violent deaths in the three years following the war than in the three prior. The containment policy was largely successful in curtailing Saddam’s human rights abuses.

As for hugging Saddam, I think that was Dr. Rumslove. It’s good to know you didn’t join him but what the hell are you doing cuddling with Muqtada Al Sadr?

    Macswain (76d8da)

  20. I would have emailed this, Patterico, but I can’t find an email address (which probably means I missed it).

  21. This story sure has lefties’ panties in a wad.

“Must deploy to all blog comments! Must protect Greenwald! Scatter to the blogs! Fall on the grenade! Man down! Man down!”

There are other/better left blogs you know. No need to fall on the grenade for Greenwald.

    ZombieWatch (05d1fe)

  22. Yep those lefties are all falling on grenades.

    Dawnsblood (30da23)

  23. It is interesting that, despite our esteemed host’s tremendous legal knowledge and solid investigative and journalistic skills, the posts which have generated the most traffic on this site (since the Harriet Miers nomination, anyway) are the ones involving Mr Greenwald, Debbie Frisch’s weird blog explosion against Jeff Goldstein, and Mike Hiltzik’s sock-puppetry.

Is the most interesting subject on this blog other bloggers?

    Dana (1d5902)

  24. JDK,

I doubt that any of Patterico’s commenters need a new hobby but it’s fairly clear that left-leaning folks have one. In fact, one infamous self-described moonbat has issued a warning about pushy wingnuts in her 7/21/2006 post, the “911 Brouhaha”.

    DRJ (fc0576)

  25. Yep those lefties are all falling on grenades.

dawnsblood, are you pointing to this post, where Paul says:

I’m not standing up for Greenwald. I already said he was a lying piece of dung.

I believe the Magic Boyfriend theory. See post #6.

    Pablo (08e1e8)

  26. “The containment policy was largely successful in curtailing Saddamā€™s human rights abuses.”

Yup, those sanctions were working well. How much do you think Chirac got in all ? Putin’s Swiss bank account ? Kofi’s Mercedes ?

All those Shia in the mass graves committed suicide while the Mukhbarat just kept the tourists away.

You guys are amazing. Poor old Hitler. A victim of disproportionate response. After all, what did Hitler ever do to us ? And then that stupid Roosevelt! The Japs bomb Pearl Harbor and he invades Africa !

Of course, he made the shrewd decision to run as a Democrat.

Yeah, I’m sure Kerry would have done a better job. After all, look what he was able to accomplish with those North Vietnamese diplomats in Paris. And he was only a lieutenant at the time.

Well, at least he got his picture on that wall as a hero of North Vietnam.

I think Deb Frisch would be a good culture minister in the Gore Administration. You heard it here first.

    Mike K (416363)

  27. I condemn that last post. There is just no room for partisanship here. Anymore, anyway.

    Mike K (416363)

  28. The containment policy was largely successful in curtailing Saddamā€™s human rights abuses.

Largely…but I was under the impression that the containment policy was a temporary solution to a long term problem. When the world inevitably moved on, so would Saddam – back to his WMD programs and butchering of those who got in his way. Would it be long before we were at war with him again, anyway?

    thelinyguy (e32b76)

  29. Saddam Hussein = Not such a bad guy, as of late!

Glenn Greenwald = A fine fellow!

McSwain, you’ve got a call from Dennis Rader on line 1. Something about an endorsement…

    Pablo (08e1e8)

  30. Sorry, but me too condemning this post, had to do it!!!!

    Daniel B. Sherman (e23bcc)

  31. Gee freakin’ whiz, can we stop with the “I condemn” posts already? They were funny the first time, maybe the second time, but not the 93rd time. Seriously, I’m begging you.

    mh (5b638c)

  32. mh is right.

I join the matahari in condemning all condemnations.

    Dustin (088aff)

  33. “FREEBIRD!!”

(Just trying to get away from condemnations.)

    Gotta Know (f41eca)

  34. Wow. This is a really, really great post.

    I endorse it!

    Pablo (08e1e8)

  35. “Gee freakinā€™ whiz, can we stop with the ā€œI condemnā€ posts already? They were funny the first time, maybe the second time, but not the 93rd time. Seriously, Iā€™m begging you.”

Yeah, I’m kind of sympathetic to this but, if we stop condemning, we’re gonna have Greenwald back here condemning us.

So it’s condemn or be condemned. What else is there ?

    Mike K (416363)

  36. Do they still sell Kerfuffle? I could go for a good kerfufflenutter sandwich about now.

    Dan Collins (dda747)

  37. “Boy, when you folks on the Right obsess over something, you really go all out.”

Yeah, unlike the Left who weren’t obsessed at all about whether or not George Bush squeezing Angela Merkel’s shoulders was sexual harassment. That wasn’t obsession at all.

And sanctions worked so well against Saddam Hussein that it ALMOST stopped his regime from grinding people up in wood chippers. Almost.

    sharon (fecb65)

  38. Oh, and the Left wasn’t obsessed with George Bush talking with his mouth full and “embarrassing” the U.S. Nope. No obsession there.

    sharon (fecb65)

  39. Are those kerfufflenutter sandwiches served with condemnents?

    Gotta Know (f41eca)

  40. Yes, they are. We originally served them with condom mints, but kept on having to Heimlich Greenwald. Which nobody wanted to do.

    Dan Collins (dda747)

  41. Condemnitol will help you blog in peace . . .
Safe and defensible peace, peace, peace

    Dan Collins (dda747)

  42. According to condemntional wisdom, anyway.

    Gotta Know (f41eca)

  43. Boy, when you folks on the Right obsess over something, you really go all out.

Yeah, unlike you left wing folks, whose response to the Jeff Gannon non-story is universally considered to be the very model of restraint and propriety.

    OregonMuse (2862ff)

  44. Let’s not forget the Rove indictment. How many Huffpo/truthout pieces were there on that one? Over how long?

    Pablo (08e1e8)

  45. ” kept on having to Heimlich Greenwald. Which nobody wanted to do.” Whew! Ugly image !

When Harold Washington, the Mayor of Chicago, died, he had his cardiac arrest in front of a bunch of people at a meeting in his office. Washington was well known for, how shall we say it, some peculiar sexual enthusiasms. Anyway, he keeled over in front of a half-dozen people who all looked at each other as if to say “Are you going to do mouth-to-mouth on him? I’m not.” Nobody did. They waited for the paramedics.

    Mike K (416363)

  46. Mike K Comment #45,

You should be ashamed of yourself. Sincerely. That BS about Washington being gay was spread by Vrdolyak, a slimeball to outslime all slimeballs. (And I don’t care anyway. He was a good mayor. I voted for his re-election.) As for the reason Washington did not get CPR in his office — his staff did not know CPR. I don’t either. Do you?

  47. (re: #43)

An online boy-toy poses as a journalist in order to query “aren’t-your-opponents-unhinged!!” questions of President Bush on national television. And this is a “non-story” next to blogger Glenn Greenwald’s IP address enigma. Per pseudonymous commenters.

    steve (6cbac1)

  48. #47,

“Posing” as a journalist? Hey, anyone employed to report by news content providers–be they Talon or Pacifica or, in the case of I.F. Stone, the U.S.S.R.–is a journalist. Which just illustrates what a hoot it is that scribblers believe they work in a “profession.”

What was Boosh’s answer to the questions, BTW? Didn’t see it on Brokaw.

“Address enigma?” Good spin; you’ll go very far on the port side.

    Cordially…

    Rick (1536e4)

  49. Don’t need a license to be a journalist. No test. Just convince somebody to hire you & there you have it. 1st Amendment protection!

    sharon (03e82c)

  50. Just a rootin’ tootin’ cotton-pickin’ minute here! Sufferin succatash, and all that jazz!! Loonie Tunes United condemns all the posting that threatens to make The Onion look more reliable than Patterico!!! (Really now, do you want to make Patterico look like it’s in the same company as the LAT and NYT, i.e., making The Onion look reliable)??

Say, how do we know all of these posts aren’t more sock puppets trying to make Patterico and the gang look silly?? Very Kafka-esque, is it not?

I do think weā€™re getting to the point where we will have established what he is and should just dismiss him hereafter as a blogger unworthy of respect. Like the way some already respond to him with the simple, ā€œHereā€™s another howler from the internetā€™s most dishonest blogger,ā€ and a quick link back to the proof…

    Comment by LoafingOaf ā€” 7/20/2006 @ 9:22 pm

Patterico, I ask you, appoint an adult to monitor things while you’re listening to Mozart or working, PLEASE….

I still think TTLB should keep a list of those considered unworthy of respect, it would make things simpler, and we could spend more time discussing how good the “containment” policy worked with Saddam, as documented by all the violations David Kay pointed out (for those who bothered to look at more than the MSM news clip), and the terms of the last negotiated settlement concerning Lebanon (that the Lebanese Army would take up positions on the southern border so Hezbollah couldn’t launch terrorist attacks).

And who did Talon replace Jeff Gannon with? I gather militarystud.com had other wannabe’s vying for White House credentials using their screen names. No?

  53. Children, children.

    CraigC (9cd021)

  54. steve, what do Gannon’s prior sexual proclivities have to do with his credentials as a journalist? And why is it you have a problem with a pro-administration guy being in a press room full of anti-administration people? Do you think he was hiding something?

That was a guy who got smeared. And still does, as it turns out.

    Pablo (08e1e8)

  55. The whole thing is quite bizarre.
