Query (no pun intended): if Andrew Sullivan were heterosexual, would be still be pro-war?
No, no, you don’t understand me. I’m not saying being anti-war is gay. I’m just wondering: if Sully hadn’t gotten so disappointed at Bush’s anti-gay stance, would he have gone so crazy about the war (as exemplified by this post essentially blaming the torture-murders of our soldiers on our own “torture” policies)?
I mean, I don’t read the guy, so I don’t know.
Patterico (50c3cd) — 6/20/2006 @ 6:13 pmI have commented on this before. No offense to actus, aphrael or Psyberian, but I think that the President’s stand on social issues — his call for a same-sex marriage ban being the most prominent — has made him the mortal enemy of a substantial percentage of our fellow citizens.
nk (956ea1) — 6/20/2006 @ 8:16 pmExtreme Islamicism is more of an enemy to gays than George Bush could ever be. His views might offend their lifestyle, but he doesn’t want to individually slit their throats, either.
Ed C:\> (d72d01) — 6/20/2006 @ 8:49 pmI don’t read Sullivan either, so I really don’t know. But if this guy weren’t gay, would he still be a sanctimonious, self-satisfied racist?
Anwyn (01a5cc) — 6/20/2006 @ 9:01 pmAnwyn,
Probably a sanctimoniou, self-satisfied racist with a wife and kids. So thank God he’s gay.
