Sock-Puppet Pseudonyms by a Journalist . . . Pseudonym . . . Journalist . . . Pseudo . . . This Reminds Me of Something . . . Don’t Tell Me . . . It’s on the Tip of My Tongue

I just have one question about the Hiltzik affair: was it an example of pseudo-journalism?

  1. Hi Patterica, OT, but… in keeping with the Dog Trainer theme… please read this brief article for prima facie evidence that the LA Times, which I’ll defend when it’s right, sucks [deleted out of resepect for women, children, and dandy men] most of the time.

    Brief article.

  2. I think it qualifies as mega-meta-pseudo-journalism by proxy.

  3. Heh. There’s lots and lots of pseudo-journalism going on these days, from the lefty media machine.

I went over to Welch’s comments and responses re: Hiltzik – I read all the comments. They’re okay, and reasonable enough in tone, but there’s one thing missing. People should be much more troubled than they are about being duped.

This country is becoming benumbed to duplicitous author behavior. James Frey’s book continued to fly off the shelves even after being proven as a fraudulent work. The NYTimes vomits out one continuous stream of incomplete, incorrect or misleading spew, and still cleans up at Pulitzer time, when somebody should be cleaning them and their spew up.

Duping people, no matter what venue it takes place in, is one of the lowest forms of social behavior and must always be held to serious and clear accountability.

  4. Hey Patterico, Why don’t you use your real name on your blog? Why don’t you tell everyone that you are Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Patrick Frey? [I do. I have said this many times. In fact, the only reason you know this is because I have been transparent about it. I used my real name in the initial post about Hiltzik. So don’t think you’re revealing some secret I’m trying to hide. You’re not. — Patterico] Does that constitute Pseudo-Journalism? If you don’t like the L.A. paper buy a different one, A-hole. Quit trying to abridge peoples first ammendment rights.

P.S. You are either a Libertarian (Cool by me–but then act like one) or a Neo-Con Fraud (What you do act like). You claim to be both; it is not possible to be for fiscal responsibility, but against it. It is not possible to be against the drug war, although for it. It is not possible to be for personal responsibility, yet support those who never accept any whatsoever. It is not possible to be for civil rights, but jump at the opportunity to support those who regularly impinge on those same rights.

P.P.S. For the sake of the residents of L. A. county, I hope your legal arguments are more coherent than your political viewpoint. Have a nice day.

For the benefit of those less versed in constitutional law than HateTheBS, the First Amendment provides as follows:

The freedom of the press to print stupid, unsupportable ideological crap, without being mocked over it, shall not be infringed by anyone.

  6. It wouldn’t surprise me if HateTheBS is a regular posting as a lefty bitter-ender.

Patrick should hire help to research IP address.

  8. Xrlq,

I don’t think that’s the First Amendment you’re citing, I believe it’s the First Ammendment (sic)[ko?]. I think that HTBS also needs to take a loading dose of his medicine along with the fake Beaver.

  10. >>>Hey Patterico, Why don’t you use your real name on your blog?

The issue isn’t pseudonyms, it’s sock puppetry. I don’t expect you to get it because Libs aren’t that smart.
