Bush Knew Before It Happened
What with my Internet connection being out, I hadn’t realized that the White House had been warned about the Cheney shooting incident — before it happened.

A while back, my sister e-mailed me and asked where she could see the infamous Mohammed cartoons. I figured they were all over the place (and they are), and my Internet access was restricted at the time, so I didn’t bother replying to her. By now, it’s old news. But what the heck. In case she or anyone else still hasn’t seen them, you can see them here.
Now that you’ve seen them, don’t just sit there. Go kill some people!
(Note: “The Power of the Jump”™ is a semi-regular feature of this site, documenting examples of the Los Angeles Times’s use of its back pages to hide information that its editors don’t want you to see.)
The U.S. Government says it suspects a senior Al Qaeda operative of being behind the Samarra mosque attack that spurred sectarian violence that some say threatens a civil war in Iraq.
Is this news? According to the editors of the L.A. Times, it is . . . barely.
Don Knotts has died. He was a comic genius and will be missed.
UPDATE: Man. Darren McGavin died as well. I used to watch the Night Stalker all the time when I was a kid. He will also be missed.
No more whining about how I’m only on the Treo. The Internet connection is back. Expect blogging to be slightly less lame in the coming weeks than it has been for the past week. (Yes, it’s okay to say so now.)
I just got this perplexing e-mail:
I am currently doing a stint in Iraq and the military is blocking access to your web site. They allow Michelle Malkin, Captain’s Quarters, Ace of Spades, and Protein Wisdom though.
If they allow Protein Wisdom, then it’s not an issue of language. (I generally refrain from profanity anyway — though when I do have a reason to use it, I don’t usually bleep it.) I love Jeff Goldstein, but he is not known for shying away from the “f” word.
I can’t begin to imagine what other reason the military might have for blocking my web site.
What’s going on here?
Anybody know who I should call or write to ask?
