Will Lapham Pull Another Lapham?

The New York Times reports that Harper’s Magazine editor Lewis Lapham will retire in the spring.

The obvious question: will Lapham report on the reaction to his retirement speech before he gives it?

  3. No, no, no, you just don’t understand! This is entirely the fault of conservatives, conservative businessmen, who insist that the Creative People among us adhere to something as reactionary as a deadline. What other choices do the Creative People have, when working under such oppressive conditions?
