Shoe Drops for Scooter, but not Karl

Filed under: Politics — Patterico @ 8:43 pm

Remember that Scooter Libby told Judy Miller that aspens “turn in clusters, because their roots connect them.” (Was there a deeper meaning in that? you might well ask.) Well, I would think Scooter’s and Karl’s roots would be connected — but for now, it looks like Scooter gets the indictment, and Karl doesn’t. (Via Instapundit.)

  1. The only crimes we know have actually been committed are the leaking of the secret grand jury proceedings. Where is that investigation and where are those indictments?

  2. What if Fitzgerald indicts a reporter for lying to the grand jury, like Tim Russert or Matt Cooper, but doesn’t indict either Rove or Libby?

That would be funny. With an added bonus of millions (billions?) of articles about how Fitzgerald is a partisan hack.

    That would just be beautiful.

Via the Drudge: Looks like Scooter falls on the sword, Rove dodges the bullet and CNN got it wrong.
Or as Patterico put it: “Shoe Drops for Scooter, but not Karl”

  4. Fitzgerald and the indictment are careful not to say that Plame was a covert agent under the IIPA. The “underlying crime” is apparently release of classified information. Sandy Berger will be called to testify to the seriousness of that offense. See Fact Finding
