Our daughter got her first loose tooth yesterday.
The Tooth Fairy is saving up. She’s not even sure what the going rate is nowadays, but she thinks it’s a dollar. Some things are beyond the reach of inflationary pressures.

The one dollar _coins_, which have a goldish outer layer work well IMNSHO. (It isn’t gold, but ‘manganeese-brass-copper alloy’ doesn’t roll of the tongue.)

Al (00c56b) — 5/26/2005 @ 9:41 amI’m disappointed in your conservative views Patterico. Who says the Tooth Fairy is a she?
Vermont Neighbor (40e0a4) — 5/26/2005 @ 9:44 amIt, like housing, depends on where you live. My granddaughters in California get $2, children here in my small town get $1.
Ruth H (6ff35a) — 5/26/2005 @ 11:21 amMy son swallowed his first lost tooth by accident, and was very disappointed. We found an ancient deer skull near the house, extracted one, and put a deer tooth in the envelope. Then he dictated a note to the Tooth Fairy to be sure she didn’t feel she had been treated deceptively. Apparently she did not mind, because she left the then-substantial sum of $0.25.
