It’s A Dog’s World
[guest post by Dana]
Saturday Night Live provides some Sunday fun with a skit about Conan, the heroic Belgian Malinois who was injured during the Al-Baghdadi raid. It’s especially fun to watch after a number of major media outlets (including The New York Times and The Washington Post) embarrassed themselves over President Trump’s retweet of an obviously photoshopped image depicting the President awarding a military dog a medal. As if we needed more reasons to roll our eyes at Big Media…
Anyway, enjoy:

It’s funny how Big Media had such a ruff time with Trump’s retweet. Almost as if they collectively lack a sense of humor.

mg (8cbc69) — 11/3/2019 @ 3:46 pmWhat’s funny though, is that I’m pretty sure that is a German Shepherd in the skit, not a Belgian Malanois. Their faces are very similar, but body structure and fur are different.
Dana (cb74ca) — 11/3/2019 @ 3:54 pmWhere’s the pony?
nk (dbc370) — 11/3/2019 @ 3:56 pmOk, I watched almost three minutes of that dog-meat. Is that what passes for funny these days?
nk (dbc370) — 11/3/2019 @ 4:21 pmGood idea – badly executed.
rcocean (1a839e) — 11/3/2019 @ 5:01 pmThere were lots of good ideas when the Times and Post were being ridiculed this week over their dog photo obsession:

harkin (337580) — 11/3/2019 @ 5:07 pmMeh. My sense of humor obviously isn’t as sophisticated as yours, nk. I thought it was cute. Not belly laugh worthy, of course, but light and fun, and that’s a welcome relief. Plus the dog is awfully sweet.
Dana (cb74ca) — 11/3/2019 @ 5:36 pm@7. Ever seen ‘Bedtime For Bonzo’? Watch almost three minutes of those monkeyshines then ask yourself, ‘is that what passed for funny in those days?’
DCSCA (797bc0) — 11/3/2019 @ 5:52 pm@10. It was very cute. Especially when the pooch adlibbed and licked her face– and they added the water drinking bit– a ‘fauxpaws’ of sorts. 😉
DCSCA (797bc0) — 11/3/2019 @ 5:54 pmSince this is the humor thread…

mg (8cbc69) — 11/4/2019 @ 3:42 amThe New York Times did a whole investigation of President trump’s claim that Baghdadi screamed and cried and whimpered when he was cornered and published it on the front oage of their papere on Saturday:

It starts as factual reporting, but eventually segues into outright editorializing. It;s not abad editorial, but it is editorializing. The reporter goes beyond just finding someone to quote
The article then goes back to more like reporting, but then editotializes again:
