Sheila Jackson Lee (and Former Feinstein) Staffer Arrested for Doxxing Republican Senators

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:15 am

Not good:

U.S. Capitol Police arrested a staffer in the office of Houston Democrat Sheila Jackson Lee for allegedly posting personal information about one or more senators involved in the hearings on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Jackson A. Cosko, 27, faced charges Wednesday of making public, or “doxing,” restricted information, unauthorized access of a government computer, burglary, and other violations of federal law.

Funny thing about this alleged miscreant: he used to work for Senator Feinstein.

Senior congressional sources tell Fox News that Cosko most recently worked as an unpaid intern for Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas. He previously worked with Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-N.H., and former Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer of California. He also worked or interned with the office of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, as well as with at least one other unnamed lawmaker. A LinkedIn page with Cosko’s name on it describes him as a “Democratic Political Professional & Cybersecurity Graduate Student.”

This comes at a time when bad people at leftist publications urge the public to stalk Republican senators and treat them as evil:

And that in turn comes at a time when people shoot Republicans because they believe them to be evil.

  2. This is fascinating. People like SJL have been just as over the top (if not more) than DJT. So for her to get all tough with him is amazingly ironic. Yet none dare criticize her. But…when one of *her* staff does this?

    Wow.

And this is the result of all the over the top rhetoric. If you demonize and dehumanize your opponents, why, then it is okay to do whatever is necessary to eliminate them.

    By any means necessary.

The most notable part of the report is, without comey, macabe and strozk, you can’t get the FBI to issue a report that says whatever you want it to.

  12. Who was it that said this was fake news… was it Tillman?

    Video at the link…
“Signs ripped up in anger. Chants of “we believe survivors.” Furious finger pointing.

A large group of students became enraged Tuesday afternoon by a pro-Brett Kavanaugh tabling effort at the University of Texas at Austin put together by its Young Conservatives of Texas chapter. A crowd of furious students encircled the group and yelled at its members while chanting obscenities and destroying their signs.

The conservative group had decided to set up a “Confirm Kavanaugh” display in an effort to show support for the embattled U.S. Supreme Court judge nominee and argue for the need for corroborating evidence, said student Anthony Dolcefino, vice chairman of the group.

They drew up signs stating phrases such as “#MeToo gone #TooFar,” “KavaNotGuilty” and “No Campus Kangaroo Courts in Congress.” They also put up a “Change My Mind” sign, a call to debate peers.

“We did want people to talk to us, but unfortunately it’s hard to do that when you have an angry mob ripping our signs and screaming in our faces,” Dolcefino told The College Fix in a telephone interview Tuesday.”

  13. Well, damn. I hoped from the headline that there were two arrests and that Rep. Jackson Lee was one of them. The odds of him doing this without her knowing? I don’t know.

Long ago, my kids went to school at River Oaks Elementary — the crown jewel elementary school of the Houston ISD — with her kid. They liked her kid okay. But the Right Honorable Congresswoman had a terrible reputation at the school for being outrageously unreasonable in the special privileges she demanded and her propensity to fly off the handle and dress down teachers and administrators over things not at all their fault, such that even the kids at the school all knew about it.

Of course, the federal courts still consider themselves bound by the Civil Rights Act of 1965 to guarantee that her seat be rigidly protected in every gerrymander through perpetuity, because Texas joined the Confederacy and then perpetuated Jim Crow, like the rest of the Old South. Her life appointment is safer by far than Brett Kavanaugh’s will be if he’s confirmed.

    Colonel Haiku (3ad005)

  15. Don’t feel too bad about gerrymandering in Texas, Beldar. We’re the Land of Lincoln and we have one district which is like a horseshoe laid down in the middle of Chicago to get all the Hispanic votes, and another like a snake along the North Shore of Lake Michigan to get all the Jewish votes. The first was created for Luis Gutierrez and the second for Sidney Yates.

    nk (dbc370)

  16. @ nk: Thanks. My only quibble with your prognostication in #3 is that I’ve never heard Jackson Lee demonstrate an ability to count up to 10, much less down from it, nor have I ever known her to exert even 10 seconds’ restraint in pulling the race card. She lives the race card; it’s out 24/7/365.

And nk, I’d gladly live without the 4th district if they could make the 3 black districts into 2. Its about time one of my peeps “earned” the Bill Foster (Joliet-Aurora) or Dan Lipinski area outright.

  27. There is a line that can be crossed w/this kind of encounter from either side w/a differing POV. However, given how the system is currently structured, it’s understandable. Chances are any of these congresscritters would welcome – or endure- a face to face from a big donor waving a check or a lobbyist w/deep pockets. An average citizen- a voter- not so much. Case in point- years ago, just as a citizen, made a call to my congresscritter in Washington asking him to vote ‘yes’ for funding a NASA project in dispute. A staffer answered, barked ‘who is this’ and hung up. Startled, called again. Another answered, asked, ‘who do you represent?’ ‘Me– I’m as constituent’ says I. They hung up again. Suspect if I’d said Boeing the response would have been different. Inked a letter about it to the congressman. An apology arrived in the mail weeks later– long after the vote was taken. But the encounter reinforced the suspicion that as individual voters, your input doesn’t matter much- only your vote on election day.

  29. The internships are telling. Most folks get an education and get a job. If you can afford to work for months or years for free, with super access to power, it means you’re wealthy. This is a person of great privilege who is attacking basically democracy. Millions of voters who have to work to feed their families elected Republicans, so this elitist kid decided to interfere with that.

One thing that is very clear: people working in these offices will leak private information to get a ruthless edge. Feinstein’s office is under suspicious (really more than just suspicion) for betraying Ford’s confidence to bring her allegations to the latest and most dramatic ambush. She said she didn’t investigate the matter, then immediately changed her mind unrealistically to follow the “deny deny deny” model of defense.

I think Feinstein should be sitting in the same chair Kavanaugh was and answering some questions about an FBI investigation.

  33. SJL and Texas Republicans actually have an arrangement, set up back in 2011, so that Shelia gets a safe district carved out in the Houston area … but at the expense of possible Latino-majority Democratic districts. The remaining Blue areas around Houston are carved up among the other districts, allowing most of those to remain in Republican hands (it’s something the Democrats yell about in abstract, but not in specifics, because to do that would be to go after Lee as being complicit with the arrangement).

A Democratic congressional intern accused of publishing the private information of at least three Republican lawmakers allegedly threatened to leak senators’ childrens’ health information if a witness told anyone about his activities.

Jackson Cosko, who recently worked as an unpaid intern for Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, was arrested for allegedly posting the personal information (or “doxxing”) of a number of senators including Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., Mike Lee, R-Utah, and Orrin Hatch, R-Utah on Wikipedia — with information such as their home addresses and phone numbers. Graham, Lee and Hatch’s information was published on Thursday.
