New York A.G. Schneiderman Resigns After Becoming the New #MeToo Sleazeball

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:51 pm

New York Times:

Eric T. Schneiderman, the New York attorney general who rose to prominence as an antagonist of the Trump administration, abruptly resigned on Monday night, hours after four women accused him of physically assaulting them in an article published by The New Yorker.

“It’s been my great honor and privilege to serve as attorney general for the people of the State of New York,” Mr. Schneiderman said in a statement. “In the last several hours, serious allegations, which I strongly contest, have been made against me.

“While these allegations are unrelated to my professional conduct or the operations of the office, they will effectively prevent me from leading the office’s work at this critical time. I therefore resign my office, effective at the close of business on May 8, 2018.”

Here’s the “denial” he issued earlier today:

Apparently Schneiderman consistently chose the “role’ of the guy who chokes and beats the woman.

“Consensually,” of course.

As someone who exulted over my firing from RedState told me:

Good riddens!

I met with a guy about buying some water who later hired a hooker specifically for rough trade and he went wild and near beat her to death. He was a nut who had been in and out of the nuthouse his whole life. He’d burned down a church, threatened the judge by throwing a note tied to a rock through his window, paid his bail with a check written on a paper bag. He might be dead but if not he resides in the Atascadero Hospital for the criminally insane.

The hooker wound up owning his property but it took a while because he’d declared it the monarchy of Christania deeded the property to Jesus and had seceded from the state of California and the USA.

I believe it was created by The Lancet to help Clinton, and it used fake science, matching the Y chromosome of the know Jefferson line, which would be his from his nephews since he had no sons*, to the Y chromosome of the known Hemings line. Think about it. Jefferson had no direct male descendants, but the chromosome The Lancet used was the Y chromosome which is only found in males. Bleech!

Not sure what you’re getting at. The test was an attempt to determine whether Eston Hemmings (a male) was fathered by someone in Jefferson’s male line. That seems incontrovertible. It is much harder to say whether *Thomas* Jefferson was his father. But if he was, then it is not true that “Jefferson had no direct male descendants”, is it?

Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly says he offered to stand by White House press secretary Sarah Sanders during press briefings to help deal with “out of line” reporters.

O’Reilly revealed on his online show on Monday that made the remarks to Sanders at a party for new German Ambassador Richard Grinnell on Sunday.

“I said, ‘Ms. Sanders with all due respect, if you ever need me to stand next to you in those press briefings, I will volunteer to do that. And, if somebody gets out of line, I will tell them exactly what I think of their behavior,’ ” O’Reilly said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Okay. Jefferson had no sons that we know of. We know of no one who for sure got his Y chromosome. His known daughter would have only passed down his X chromosome. The Lancet study is meaningless in regard to Jefferson playing pattycake with Sally Hemings. Better?

“The federal government took in a record tax haul in April en route to its biggest-ever monthly budget surplus, the Congressional Budget Office said, as a surging economy left Americans with more money in their paychecks — and this more to pay to Uncle Sam.

All told the government collected $515 billion and spent $297 billion, for a total monthly surplus of $218 billion. That swamped the previous monthly record of $190 billion, set in 2001.
CBO analysts were surprised by the surplus, which was some $40 billion more than they’d guessed at less than a month ago.

Analysts said they’ll have a better idea of what’s behind the surge as more information rolls in, but for now said it looks like individual taxpayers are paying more because they have higher incomes.”

How did Ronan Farrow find out about this?

None of these women knew each other.

My conclusion is that either one or more made a complaint – maybe not these women – and/or that there was somebody in the State legislature handling these kinds of things for the members, (and don’t think this did not help some lobbyists)

Schneiderman must have reported these things to some people every time he thought he had a problem , and now either it was deliberately leaked for somebody’s advantage, or too many people (perhaps bound by lawyer client privilege or nondisclosure agreements with penalties – some low level people – came to know.

Somebody was very interested in chasing Schneiderman out of Albany as fast as possible.

So if Trump’s tweet was an illusion to similar conduct, its going to be in regard to a different woman who has not yet come forward

That’s quite possible, if he had anything in mind, and it’s quite likely because it is likely there is more and that there’s someone who knows a great deal about this.

Schneiderman must have paid someone or used someone to protect him – there’s no other possible source for these multiple allegations (unless they are false and Shneiderman didn’t act like they were false – he was just limiting himself to saying they were non-criminal.)

As for Trump, aside from possibly knowing that Schneiderman was interested in many women, it was probably a shot in the dark, based on the fact that both Weiner and Spitzer (and maybe Schneiderman) were very aggressive and accusative against others.

I hereby require that the Nassau District Attorney Madeline Singas be designated Special Prosecutor and Special Deputy Attorney General (hereinafter “Special Prosecutor”) to investigate, and if warranted, prosecute, any and all matters concerning the public allegations against Mr. Schneiderman,…

    But not new allegations?

    Sammy Finkelman (02a146)

  87. The New York Times heard about this afew days ago, but the two women named in the New Yorker article refused to comment at that time, and one said she;d been dealing with this for a month.

So Schneiderman did have some time to prepare adefense because he was probably contacted.

    Sammy Finkelman (02a146)

  88. Some earlier charges aboiut Schneiderman:

    https://www.city-journal.org/html/eric-schneidermans-inevitable-fall-15890.html

In 2010, when Schneiderman first ran for statewide office, he was involved in a hit-and-run accident. Then a state senator, he claimed to have been a passenger in his own car when his 22-year-old staffer Rachel Kagan—niece of Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan—smashed into a parked car and drove away, after causing $3,000 worth of damage. A passerby witnessed the crash and wrote down Schneiderman’s license plate. Schneiderman later told the owner of the parked car that he “disciplined the staffer,” and offered to pay for the damage, though his office insisted that it was “outrageous” to call the incident a hit-and-run.

Schneiderman later had a brush with trouble regarding his close relations with prominent Hasidic businessman Moshe Stern, the federal government’s chief informant in a major 2013 corruption case involving former state senate president Malcolm Smith. Stern, who provided Schneiderman with entrée to the extensive Hudson Valley Satmar community, was the bagman in the Smith corruption scandal, which revolved around Smith, a Democrat, seeking to obtain the Republican line in the 2013 mayoral race in New York City through the payment of significant bribes to Republican Party leaders. Joseph and Esther Markowitz, the couple who apparently funneled the bribes through Stern, gave Schneiderman $103,000 in campaign contributions, which he donated to charity when their part in the Smith case came to light.

In 2014, when Schneiderman ran for reelection, Randy Credico, a comedian and New York City gadfly who perennially runs for local office on the issue of drug legalization, alleged that he had sniffed cocaine with Schneiderman, then a state senator, in the back of a bar. Schneiderman denied it, admitting to having used marijuana and cocaine up until 1998, but Credico insisted that Schneiderman was doing “bumps” of white powder with him and a group of others. Given the reports from women he dated and beat that Schneiderman was a raging alcoholic who would routinely bring a bottle of scotch to bed, Credico’s story sounds more credible.

    Sammy Finkelman (02a146)

  89. Meanwhile, Roman Polanski calls #MeToo ‘collective hysteria’, threatens Academy with legal action over recent expulsion:

In a letter to the Academy President John Bailey, Polanski’s attorney, Harland Braun, explained that the decision was made in violation of the organization’s standards of conduct as well as California state law. He claims that Mr. Polanski should have been given a fair hearing in which he could explain his side of the story before being expelled.

“I am writing this letter to avoid unnecessary litigation,” Braun wrote in the letter, obtained by Fox News. “Mr. Polanski has a right to go to court and require your organization to follow its own procedures, as well as California law. The only proper solution would be for your organization to rescind its illegal expulsion of Mr. Polanski and follow its own Standards of Conduct by giving Mr. Polanski reasonable notice of the charges against him and a fair hearing to present his position with respect to any proposed expulsion.”

Polanski, who won the Academy Award for Best Director in 2003 for “The Pianist,” has been in a sort of exile in Europe after fleeing the United States in 1978 after being convicted of raping a then 13-year-old girl. His French citizenship has prevented him from being taken back to the U.S. and, despite his conviction, has been a prominent filmmaker for the last 40 years.

Braum is not denying or re-litigating Polanski’s controversial verdict, merely asking for the Academy to give him a chance to explain the situation before making its decision.

I, for one, feel very strongly that lawyer Braum is correct, and that the Academy absolutely should give Polanski a chance to explain this situation.

Provided that he does so in person, in public, in Los Angeles.
