Democrat Wants Congress To Investigate Whether Loretta Lynch Gave Cover To Clinton Campaign

Filed under: General — Dana @ 7:00 am

[guest post by Dana]

While it wasn’t surprising that Sen. Dianne Feinstein would “…formally ask the GOP chairman … Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), to open an additional review of the president” about a possible obstruction of justice with regard to the Michael Flynn criminal investigation, this is indeed surprising:

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said she’s concerned by former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony Thursday that Lynch asked him to downplay his “investigation” into the Democratic presidential nominee as merely a “matter.”

Comey said the political request called into the question the credibility of Lynch’s Department of Justice and made him “queasy.”

“I would have a queasy feeling too,” Feinstein admitted Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “I think we need to know more about that. And there’s only one way to know about it and that’s to have the Judiciary Committee take a look at that.”

Lynch, a President Obama nominee, ultimately had to distance herself from the FBI probe after meeting with former President Bill Clinton on a tarmac in Phoenix during the height of the election campaign and email investigation.

Lynch said the meeting was impromptu and they didn’t discuss Clinton’s private email server, but the appearance of impropriety forced her to back off and for Comey to become the public face of the probe.

Asked whether Lynch provided improper political cover for Clinton, Feinstein said: “I can’t answer that,” but a “separate investigation” is worthwhile to find out.

  6. Greetings:

Well, if we are going to allude to the detritus, flotsam, and jetsam that President Obama’s administration gifted to America, how’s about a mention of the 300-page Senate report on the investigation of that “Fast and Furious” public administration that sent “straw-man” purchased firearms to the Mexican drug cartels that were subsequently involved in the murder of a Border Patrol officer. It was released last week by Senator Grassley, after eight years of stonewalling and slow-walking by the former cabal, and I have yet to see it either mentioned or discussed by the well subjugated media of the day.

  10. It actually was the Russians that revealed Bill Clinton’s secret meeting with AG Lynch on the tarmac. Once again Russian interference. Trump told the Russians the timing on when to reveal it.

  11. Comey also mentioned there was another, third, thing * that the committee had been told (which however, had been misreported in a way to render it nonsense) that raised a question as to the impartiality of the Justice department with regard to Hillary Clinton in 2016,

BURR: Let me go back if I can very briefly to the decision to publicly go out with your results on the email. Was your decision influenced [1] by the attorney general’s tarmac meeting with the former president, Bill Clinton?

COMEY: Yes. In ultimately conclusive way that was the thing that capped it for me, that I had to do something separately to protect the credibility of the investigation, which meant both the FBI and the justice department.

BURR: Were there other things that contributed to that, that you can describe in an open session?

COMEY: There were other things that contributed to that. [2] One significant item I can’t but know the committee’s been briefed on, there’s been some public accounts of it which are nonsense but I understand the committee has been briefed on the classified facts. Probably the only other consideration that I guess I can talk about in open setting is that [3] at one point the attorney general had directed me not to call it an investigation, but instead to call it a matter, which confused me and concerned me, but that was one of the bricks in the load that led me to conclude I have to step away from the department if we’re to close this case credibly.

Comey was stating he had more credibility than Attorney General Loretta Lynch in announcing there would be no prosecution of anyone with regard the emails. He is taken it as a given that there should be no prosecution.

    Item 2 here is new.

It’s probably the supposed forged-by-Russia email, in which Loretta Lynch supposedly had assured somebody connected to Clinton there would be no prosecution.

Comey is saying the published accounts are nonsense, but they are based on something true. It might even be a real email – that didn’t quite say what the leak says it said.

Dianne Feinstein knows about this third matter (and Comey indicates there were yet other concerns) and that could play a role in Dianne feinstein asking for hearings. She’s not that partisan, or at least not pro-Hillary or pro-Clinton Inc.

    ————————
    * Besides the meeting with Clinton aboard an airplane (it was not on the tarmac, although maybe we can say that since the airplane was on the tarmac, the meeting was on the tarmac) and the instruction to use the word “matter” rather than “investigation”

Senator Cornyn also brought out that Attorney general Loretta Lynch had bene requested numerous times (by members of Congress) to appoint a special counsel to look into the Hillary Clinton e-mail matter, and had refused.

Feinstein has been close to a couple of events, one the Harvey Milk and Moscone murders, the other a bomb placed in a window box of her home by the Weathermen that was found by her daughter before it went off.

She has been closer to real events than most of the DC politicians.

But several of the provisions clearly aim to conflate fetuses with babies in the eyes of the law, a move that is understandably threatening to supporters of abortion rights. The most obnoxious of these requires that fetal remains be given a “dignified disposition” by cremation, burial in a cemetery or a scattering of ashes. No longer can they be disposed of as medical waste.

Rational perspective or not, Trump is hard to defend from any standpoint other than Yosemite Sam’s.

As a party leader, he doesn’t lead.
As a consensus builder, he wreaks.
As a policy creator, he doesn’t create.
As a spokesman, he doesn’t speak (except about the personal).
As a coalition builder, he drives people out.
As the appointer of executive positions, he is strangely inactive.
As a person, he has many faults.

Despite all this, I still want Trump to succeed, while knowing he probably won’t. I cannot blame Patterico for washing his hands and concentrating on work. Fining the pony in all of this seems a thankless task and there may not be, after all, a pony.

“The greatest privilege of my life is to serve as vice president to the president who’s keeping his word to the American people,” said Mike Pence, starting things off.

“I am privileged to be here — deeply honored — and I want to thank you for your commitment to the American workers,” said Alexander Acosta, the secretary of labor.

Sonny Perdue, the agriculture secretary, had just returned from Mississippi and had a message to deliver. “They love you there,” he offered, grinning across the antique table at Mr. Trump.

Reince Priebus, the chief of staff whose job insecurity has been the subject of endless speculation, outdid them all, telling the president — and the assembled news cameras — “We thank you for the opportunity and the blessing to serve your agenda.”

  81. Here’s a palate cleanser for all of these folks who appear to be content with a daily diet of sh*tburgers and acceptance of having this ongoing leftwing hissy fit at losing an election garner their – I’ll be charitable – unwitting support and consistent denunciation of a personality that draws the worst part of each of them out. Wake. The. Fu*k. Up.

    “Here’s the good news.

It’s 2017 and Republicans control the White House, the Senate, the House and more statewide offices than you can shake a big bundle of fake news papers at. And, potentially soon, a Supreme Court that takes its guidelines from the Constitution not Das Kapital and the National Social Justice Party.

Here’s the bad news, Republicans are still Republicans.

The media throws some chum in the water and sits back and watches the bloody fun as Republicans go after Republicans for the entertainment of their enemies. Scandals are manufactured and then strategically aimed to divide and conquer Republicans. But the real target is the conservative agenda.

At the heart of the controversy over all these manufactured fake news scandals are two vital questions.

    1. Was the last presidential election legitimate?

    2. Should anyone to the right of the left be able to govern?

The left has answered “No” to both questions. The first question was answered in the negative because the second answer was “Never”.

Republicans have varied reactions to Trump. Leftists have only one reaction to anyone to the right of them. It’s the same reaction you get if you send an ISIS member into Temple Beth Shalom. If President Kasich were in the White House, you would be reading in the Washington Post how he singlehandedly brought back the Klan, causes Bursitis and is secretly doing the bidding of the Brazilians.

It’s a swamp of innuendo based on anonymous sources, investigations fed by illegal eavesdropping, scandals in which the outrage comes before the evidence whose purpose is to overturn an election. These aren’t investigations. They’re a coup by the losing side that refuses to admit it lost a presidential election. The coup isn’t just aimed at President Trump or any single member of his administration.

It’s aimed at America, at democracy and at any policy to the right of free entitlements and no freedoms.

If you believe in free speech, the right to keep what you earn, freedom of conscience, free elections, a free press, rule of the people by the people, Plymouth Rock, a little piece of paper out of Independence Hall, emancipation, reason, art, literature, history and civil rights, the coup is aimed at you.

The three things that Republicans don’t get, in order of descending importance, are that the left hates anyone to the right, that it wants absolute power and that it will do anything to destroy its enemies.”

Circa confirming Comey in closed door briefings stated he had communication between two government officials that Loretta Lynch was never going to allow Hillary to be indicted.

    Wonder who those may be?

    ….. but Russia………

How can circa, the website, confirm that? And what is it anyway?

Two Russian officials, one saying that to the other?

Bear in mind that the NSA can only break the encryption, or catch unencrypted, conversations between lower ranking Russian officials. That means, at most, it;s the internal propaganda they pass along. Like attributing POPutin;s hostility to Hillary Clinton to what she said after the 2011 Russian Parliamentary elections. That cannot be true, as Putin as she was still involved with Russia, as with the uranium deal, after that. The explanation is that the real explanation, which probabkly dealt with the Maiden Revolution in Ukraine in February 2014, would not be circulated
    within the Russian government.

So anyway, we don’t know what Comey talked about, and secondly that Russian email, if that what it was, is far from an original source.

  104. Obviously AG Sessions has something important on his mind, otherwise he has no reason to give Dems another chance to smear him all over again with the same filthy innuendo they regurgitated at his confirmation.

Whatever it is, it’s of sufficient moment to overcome considerations of personal wellbeing. To be sure, committee Dems will do their best to extract a pound of flesh in retaliation for giving voters a peek into the leftist cabal’s Potemkin Village.
