Now They Tell Us, Part 3147

According to the LA Times, al Qaeda is reeling from Predator strikes that have been killing many of their operational leaders.  And, amazingly (once you get past the misleading headline), Bush is given most of the credit.

An intense, six-month campaign of Predator strikes in Pakistan has taken such a toll on Al Qaeda that militants have begun turning violently on one another out of confusion and distrust, U.S. intelligence and counter-terrorism officials say.

The pace of the Predator attacks has accelerated dramatically since August, when the Bush administration made a previously undisclosed decision to abandon the practice of obtaining permission from the Pakistani government before launching missiles from the unmanned aircraft.

Of course, the credit is given now that it doesn’t do him any good.  Funny the secrets the press can keep.

And yet another Bush GWoT operation that Obama has signed off on.  Change even a cynic can believe in.

No no, Kevin, you just don’t understand. The LA Times editorial board tells us today that it isn’t a matter of Dear Leader backtracking on his promises, it is simply him being “pragmatic” and incrementalist (to coin a word) in trying to fulfill them. You see, it is a broken promise when it is something that a conservative politician promises and fails to immediately deliver. Where liberal politicians are concerned, we are supposed to give them credit for wanting to make good on the promise and we are expected to be patient as they do their best to deliver, even if they never quite get around to it.
