Lets start a list

Filed under: Uncategorized — Scott Jacobs @ 6:40 pm

I was wondering if we could compile a list…  A list of things that President Barack “I Cause Tingles” Obama has promised during the campaign that have since become null and void by either his words or his actions.

My personal favorite, frankly, was the oath to at first bar lobbyists from working within his administration, then saying they could work in his administration – just not in areas in which they used to lobby – to appointing William Lynn (a lobbyist for the 3rd largest defense contractor) to the position of Deputy Secretary of Defense, William Corr (a recent anti-tobacco lobbyist) to Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services, and appointing as Energy Czar (I swear to God I must be the only person creeped out by these “czar” titles) someone married to an energy lobbyist…

And that’s just three.

So go.  Gather for me examples.  Sources for the original statement would be great, and then citation for the violating or modifying act.

I’ll update as you provide (once a day at least), and I’ll see about keeping this at least on the front page.  I suspect it will become long, and I suspect it will be a project that keeps us all busy for months…

  1. If I had the money and the web programming know-how, I would start a website that tracks how long from the inauguration (nearly 12 hours ago) it takes until the last prisoner leaves Guantanamo. Dear Leader has the far left believing it is imminent, so let’s see how much of this promise is empty rhetoric.

  2. I don’t have a link, but this one is pretty much common knowledge. During the campaign Obama spoke out against the Bush administrations use of wiretapping etc., yet lately he approached Bush-Cheney stands on immunity for telecommunications companies that cooperate in warrantless surveillance.

Another one that came before being sworn in as POTUS was campaign finance. First he said he’d accept it and its limites; then he decided to pass on it and take millions upon millions more in private donations, outspending McCain by 2 or 3 to 1.

I think this is a good idea to keep a list though and I’ll try to remember to post to this thread when I see a 180 degree about face by our chosen one.

  3. Let’s face it: the guy’s already a failure; he couldn’t even keep his promise to give his kids a puppy, yet.

You are not the only one. It reminds me of the line from Fiddler On The Roof when the “Rabbi” is asked if there is a prayer for the Czar.

May the Lord bkess and keep the Czar … far away from us
