Illinois House votes to impeach
Via the Chicago Tribune’s website (after hearing about it from the BNO Online twitter.
114-1 in favor of impeachment…
Rep. Milt Patterson (D-Chicago) was the lone vote against impeaching the governor. Patterson, from Chicago’s Southwest Side, said after the roll call that he didn’t feel it was his job to vote to impeach the governor. He declined comment on whether he approved of the job Blagojevich is doing.
More info as I get it, and as I have time…

Can you recall legislators in IL? I see two that are in severe need of finding a new job.

well, 3 didn’t answer the roll call page…
All I can see is one that HAS to go, because he’s obviously a moron.

I now officially hate every elected member of government at any level… especially “representatives.”

Wow, that was fast. I seem to recall the Clinton impeachment process going much, much slower. First the House received the Starr report. Then they voted to open an investigation into impeachment. Then the Judiciary committee held hearings. Then the Judiciary committee debated the language of the proposed articles of impeachment. Then the Judiciary committee voted on whether to send the articles of impeachment to the full house. Then each and every member stood before the full house and explained their intended vote. The entire process lasted over 4 months, where here it was just 4 or 5 weeks. Does that mean the impeachment trial will be shorter or longer than the Clinton one?

Considering that the Feds have yet to issue an indictment against Blagojevich, Milton Patterson may be the only one who did the right thing. This whole thing strikes me as rats eating a wounded member of the pack. Maybe they think that Fitzgerald will reward them with lower sentences when it’s their turn.

I’m surprised they had the cohones.
Hopefully, this means we’ll get to see what Blago will spill in revenge.

nk is right. The FBI won’t even give them the complete transcripts until the end of the month. It’s all just political theater.

Press conference, finally.
Is that hair real?
blah, …
Oh, my, he’s got a group of people helped by the Illinois medical programs to stand over there with him.

Not guilty of any criminal wrongdoing. “I will be properly exonerated.”

British poet … blah …
from Ulysses by Alfred Lord Tennyson:
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

That press conference was absolutely shameless – Look at Albert – he’s got a new liver! Is that the act of a criminal or me being a great Governor? Retch.
