What Are They Afraid Of?

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kevin M @ 12:08 am

It sure seems like the Illinois Democrats are doing everything they can think of to remove Governor Bribe-o from office.  Why the rush?

A charitable explanation is that they would rather the Lt Governor appoints a Democrat to the Senate, avoiding a special election that they might well lose.  A more suspicious person might think it has to do with disrupting negotiations between Blago and the Feds.  A really suspicious person might think it has to do with getting the former Governor away from his state police protection.

Hard to say what, but they do seem in rather a rush.

  1. If they weren’t in a rush, would you think that was suspicious?

  2. It’s hard for me to say this, but maybe some people in government do still realize they’re supposed to actually do what’s right. Why keep the guy around as long as possible?

  3. As a Republican, I’d like to see a special election that Democrats might lose.

    As an Illinois taxpayer, I’d like to see Blago resign and have Pat Quinn choose the next Senator from Illinois.

    This is one of the many reasons that we needed a Constitutional Convention – the rules for succession are unclear. You are right – the State’s Attorney is in a rush to get him out ASAP. Her legal grounds were shaky at best – asking the Supreme Court to find him ‘unfit’ for example.

    Yeah, we REALLY can’t afford a special election…

    Then again, I don’t live in the Chicago area, and thus have many issues with how the state spends it’s money.

  5. You don’t think that “they” intend to send a French Frogman to

    a) Break into his car, steal his driver’s license and then alter the Illinois Secretary of State’s records to show that he never had a driver’s license;
    b) Cut the girth on his ADA service horse;
    c) Fire at him (and miss) with a silenced rifle;
    d) Get a roast beef carver to masquerade as a sea captain and testify against him in an Admiralty case?

  6. You know, the idea that Chicago politicians would be concerned about restoring good, honest government never occurred to me. Or, likely, to them.

  7. Blago ought to have been flushed down the tubes long ago.
