How to Navigate Old Links

Due to a situation where I had to switch hosting companies in a hurry several years ago, my database did not make it, and many of my URLs were screwed up. The URLs have taken several formats. Today they look something like this:

http://patterico.com/2005/01/02/best-day-by-day-cartoon-ever/

Around 2005 they looked something like this:

http://patterico.com/2005/01/02/2520/best-day-by-day-cartoon-ever/

If you click on a URL that looks like that, and get a 404 error, just eliminate that last number before the words in the URL, so it looks like this:

http://patterico.com/2005/01/02/best-day-by-day-cartoon-ever/

See? I just took out the 2520.

In 2003, the links looked like this:

Can’t help you with those. If you run across a link that looks like that, hit the back button, look for the description of the post, and use the search box to try to find it. That’s the best I can do.
