BALKO ON SWEATSHOPS
For an interesting perspective on why foreign “sweatshops” are a good thing, read this.
Does this mean that we should celebrate the fact that there are people worse off than we are? Certainly not.
Does it mean that people who self-righteously condemn such “sweatshops” may not realize the real-world impact of their stance? Absolutely.

Working for $1/hour plus basic medical in, say, Guatamala, beats the living daylights out of being a serf or sextoy for el Padrone. It amazes me what alternatives the opponents have in mind. Even socialism requires a basis, which these countries don’t yet have. Even a true Troskyite should welcome capitalist “oppression”, so that once an economy forms, they can have something to [strike]ruin[/strike] share.
