Sources: It’s Amy Coney Barrett

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 1:25 pm

Official announcement comes tomorrow but the Fake News has the information now.

President Donald Trump intends to choose Amy Coney Barrett to be the new Supreme Court justice, according to multiple senior Republican sources with knowledge of the process.

In conversations with some senior Republican allies on the Hill, the White House is indicating that Barrett is the intended nominee, multiple sources said.

I guess it was bound to happen: a Supreme Court nominee younger than me. That’s how you know you are getting old.

    YES!

  3. Not my first choice, but on the plus side any chance the public will buy a story she gang raped someone at a frat party seems small.

The smear machine is smarter than that. “She’ll turn us into the Handmaid’s Tale” is their angle.

Why not? We already have a President where any one of us would do a better job. I mean that, too.

Given the things that the Supreme Court allows these days, having a strong religious conviction, while queer, really ought to be defensible.

  15. I want a lot of weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth. It will be a little tough on the lady, but she will be confirmed no matter what, and if it motivates young people to get their heads out of their apps and go vote for Biden in the swing states ….

  16. So the NYT and the following main stream media all announce, before the president himself.

So they’ve given Trump the opportunity yank the rug from under them. Now he announces Meg Ryan or somebody else entirely, and the whole media establishment is left with egg on their faces. AND, when that same group announces a Biden win in one or another swing state, Trump can remind us all that they got the SCOTUS pick wrong. Too.

This is a tactically STUPID move by the media. Even if it turns out to be true.

  18. Oh, how I wish, Pouncer, how I wish. Because he won’t yanking out the rug from under the media, he’ll be yanking it out from under his base.

  27. It’s an Alamo siege for ideologues; they’ve been driven back in retreat to defend a handful of seats at Fortress SCOTUS. The EC map is the key to this for our Captain. Could be a bait and switch; Florida’s Lagoa may still be in the running on that score. He’ll pick who helps him best, not who pleases McConnell nor the ideologues– who’ll squeal with delight over anybody at this point. Then she’ll disappoint- as they all inevitably do… eh. “Mister Roberts”?! 😉

  30. You left out “mom”. “Mom, baseball, and apple pie.” It’s a metaphor for the three elements of a benevolent dictatorship. A government to coddle you when you’re good and spank you when you’re bad; amusements; tasty treats.

And just wait until Barrett rules that the police can force us to reveal our iPhone passwords.

  37. nk,

More than that as many conservatives who were responding to the “US or THEM!” “And judges!” hold-your-nose argument can now say they’d rather see if Donald Duck can win. Lot of cushion in 6-3.

  39. @6 That was a good article, Dave. Allahpundit is correct, the nomination of Barrett was a foregone conclusion, assuming Trump actually makes the announcement. However, the more I read about this justice, the less I like her.

  41. Oh, and by the way Patterico, counting justices nominated who are younger than you is not an indication of how old you are. You know you’re getting old when the number of funeral you attend exceeds the number of birthdays you celebrate.
