  1. I have no idea to what he is referring, but I assume his feelings have been hurt over some imagined slight, or perhaps someone is trying to hold him accountable. Or maybe it’s about his rally allegedly being sabotaged?

    Your guesses?

    Dana (25e0dc)

  2. My guess is the alleged sabotage with the rally. He’s all butthurt.

  4. Why can’t everybody just kiss his a** and pretend he’s competent, like they did for his entire business career?

  5. From what I’ve read about what needs to be done to prep for a campaign rally, It would appear that his team decided to do the opposite:

First, you never, ever brag about ticket reservations ahead of an event. Not just because you’ll be embarrassed if people don’t show up…it also discourages attendance.

    Bottom line:

    – Bragging about numbers in advance scared people off

    – Coronavirus impacted numbers

    – Holding a rally during a pandemic in a state w/ a very small GOP pool compared to other states

    – Not doing audience building stuff because they thought they didn’t need to.

  7. Related?

The US Secret Service on Monday evening told members of the White House press corps to immediately leave the White House grounds, a highly unusual decision that did not immediately come with an explanation.

The decision came during an ongoing demonstration in Lafayette Square, across the street from the White House where protestors were trying to bring down a statue of former President Andrew Jackson that stands in the middle of the park. Those protesters were eventually pushed back out of the park by police.

  11. Well, of course they’ll harass you, Mr President. What gave you the idea they wouldn’t? The OUTs always harass the INs. What’s different is that you have no ability to fight back. Reagan had an opposition Congress and a legacy of 50 years of left-of-center government to deal with. He more mountains. You just yell at them.

My opposition to Trump is not particularly policy — what I can glean of it — it’s his utter inability to govern. Sure “they” aren’t helping, but most of the damage is being done by your own “administration” (for lack of a better word).

  12. He’s been told they got a new TV down there that takes off 50lbs, that’s why he’s 237.

    Colonel Klink (Ret) (305827)

  13. OTOH, the level of harassment is such that few could govern. If this becomes the new normal, as it probably will, we’d better get a string of Reagans rather than the string of Fillmores we’ve had recently.

    Kevin M (ab1c11)

  14. for eight years mr donald always had a kind word for obama

    never harassed him even once

and now this is how they treat him

    Dave (1bb933)

  15. protestors were trying to bring down a statue of former President Andrew Jackson

They don’t care it’s Jackson. They want to pull down our entire history. The Left has gone from “Blame America First!” to “Down with America!”. November’s ads will write themselves.

  23. Church Hosting Trump Says Its Air Filters ‘Kills 99.9% of COVID-19’
In a video posted to Twitter on Monday afternoon, Dream City Church, the north Phoenix church hosting President Donald Trump on Tuesday, said that it has installed Clean Air EXP, an air filtration system that, according to the church’s leaders, kills 99.9 percent of COVID-19 “within 10 minutes.”
    ……..
In the video, the church leaders repeated marketing copy from the company’s website, and said that “independent testing” of the local company’s technology, which they say was developed by members of their church, uses ionization to take “particulants” out of the air so that “COVID can not live in that environment.”
    ……..
“So when you come into our auditorium, 99 percent of COVID is gone, killed, if it was there in the first place” said church pastor Luke Barnett in the video. “You can know when you come here, you’ll be safe and protected. Thank God for great technology and thank God for being proactive.”
    ………
Since May 26, Arizona has experienced a dramatic uptick in COVID-19 cases, going from roughly 200 to 400 cases a day to 3,246 new cases on June 19, the state’s highest-ever daily toll for newly confirmed cases. As of June 22, Arizona has had 54,586 cases and 1,342 related deaths.

  24. State Dept. mutes reporter asking about Bolton’s book
The State Department’s top spokeswoman on Monday muted the line of a reporter asking about John Bolton’s book during a briefing extolling press freedom.

……[W]hen David Brunnstrom, a journalist from Reuters, asked whether U.S. allies had reached out to the assistant secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs in the wake of Bolton’s book, his line was muted.

“ That’s not what this call is about,” the department’s spokeswoman, Morgan Ortagus, said in response to the question.

After Brunnstrom continued his question, Ortagus said, “AT&T, we can mute that line.”
    ……
A CBS News reporter, Christina Ruffini, wrote on Twitter that the silencing of the journalist came during the State Department’s attempt to highlight the importance of a free press. Monday’s designation of additional Chinese outlets as foreign missions essentially labels the organizations as state-controlled propaganda.

Maybe women aren’t sensitive about their age, but rather are sensitive to the reaction by others to their age.

  39. @16. Looking forward to the mobs breaking to the NASM on The Mall and deciding whether or not to torch The Sprit Of St. Louis. Lindy admired the ordered, racist Nazis, but OTOH, he was a big America First fella a la Trump. Maybe his three secret German families, complete w/mistresses and kids, will tip the scales w/t Zippo-wielders. Then again WVA’s Yeager was a bit of a racist– so flame his Bell X-1– and if there’s any lighter fluid left, ignite Von Braun’s V-2 perched there as well.

  41. One of my best friends is 59. Recently he mentioned how he would like a thirty something girlfriend. I told him that wasn’t a good idea. What would they have in common? Good conversation and some mutual interests are important. He wasn’t having any of it. I mentioned the likelihood that a woman so young would leave him at some point. He said he didn’t care. Go figure.

2nd presidential debate moves from Michigan to Florida
    ……
The change comes after the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, determined it was no longer “feasible” to host the Oct. 15 debate, the Commission on Presidential Debates said.

The debate will instead be held at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County in Miami.

In a letter shared with the Commission on Presidential Debates, University of Michigan President Mark Schlissel suggested the decision was influenced by the work needed to prepare the campus for the fall semester during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

  48. You know, maybe I’ll cut the orange some slack on this. The media don’t treat politically correct events like they’re treating the Tulsa rally. You’ve seen it:
    — “A Million Women Expected At The Million Women March.
    — “A Million Men Expected At The Million Men March.”
    — “300,000 Expected At Chicago’s Pride Parade.”
Then single-digit percentages of the “expected” actually show up, but that’s barely mentioned and what’s remembered are the “Million” and “300,000”.

    nk (1d9030)

  49. @52, maybe. But Trump has made crowd size a huge part of the story. They’re following his lead on this.

Respectfully disagree. If Wikipedia knew her DOB and chose to publish it that would be one thing. On the other hand I’m sympathetic to the sensitivities Dana mentioned — especially for women in the entertainment industry — so if Wikipedia excluded mention of age entirely, that would be good too. But telling us she was born circa 1978? What the heck is that? It says Wiki isn’t willing to tell us her birthday. They’re only willing to speculate about it in a way that does all the harm they’re pretending to avoid by not reporting it. And if their motives happen to be pure, and “circa 1978” is really all they know, that’s not reliable or useful enough to mention.
