Team Trump Jumps On Biden Opening In New Campaign Ad

Well, of course they did. It’s a solid opening and Team Trump would be foolish to not use it to their advantage. With Biden captured on one side of the screen and prominent female Biden supporters on the other side of the screen declaring that all women should be believed, it makes for a strong ad that showcases the undeniable hypocrisy of the Democrats:

The chickens have come home to roost for Democrats. #Believe All Women was the war cry at the heart of the Kavanaugh debacle. But the deafening silence by the same crowd toward Tara Reade only serves to expose the shallow virtue-signaling of the #Believe All Women campaign.

But aside from the hypocrisy of key Democrats, there is a risk of Trump undoing the messaging of the ad by inserting himself into the conversation. Given that he has faced far more accusations of sexual misconduct than Joe Biden, it would be prudent for Trump not to do anything that might draw attention to himself. But you know he will somehow make himself part of the story, and it will be to his detriment. White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany didn’t help matters today when she was asked whether Trump took Biden at his word with regard to denying the allegations of sexual assault, and she replied:

Well, what I would say is that we are pleased that the former vice-president has decided to go on the record. It took him, what, less than 16 hours to follow the advice of the President of the United States and come out an publicly address those claims, so we’re glad to see he’s on the record on this.

This has Trump’s fingerprints all over it. Team Trump needs to put a lid on this gloating tone. Move over, shut-up, and let the ad speak for itself.

Anyway, the ad is sure to be a hit with his base, but will it help move the needle with wobbly Biden voters, Independents, or help expand his base? Overall, I don’t think it will. The “anyone but Trump” rallying cry is in full swing. If Tara Reade can solidly close the gaps and inconsistencies in her story, and a copy of the complaint is unearthed, Biden might actually be compelled to step down. And that will leave Democrats with Bernie, or any number of other anyone but Trump possibilities from which to choose.

  1. So many hypocrites…

  2. Just another case of using rules as clubs. No matter who does it, bashing the other side with rules you don’t follow yourself is wrong. Using laws to indict your opponents, while letting your side slide is par for the course as well. We truly have a sick political system.

    Death to both parties.

  4. Biden needs to punch back, open all his records to a special master and demand that Trump release all his women from their NDAs.

  6. Kavanaugh warned the smear merchants that sooner or later they’d be forced to play by their own rules. Only it’s not an application of Alinsky, it’s the American people once again seeing the glaring double standard and forcing the media to at least make a half-baked show of doing its job…..after weeks of hoping it would go away.

The big difference tho is the news media is still 90% in the Dems’ pocket. That didn’t help with the Mueller circus, Covington, obstruction, blaming Trump instead of China etc.

They better hope Biden is just a kid-sniffing freak and not a diddler.

If he gets past this tho he’ll just be back to trying to formulate sentences.

  7. I just watched that again, this time full screen.

The ad is marvelous at using the Dems’ own tactics and words to make their own candidate look pretty bad.

But the thing that struck me most is what the **** is up with Hillary’s face? She looks like a talking strawberry.

  8. Great ad.

But it’s probably going to be like most ads this year. Neither candidate has any great accomplishment or personal trait or accomplishment to advertise. All they’ve got are attacking how bad the other guy is. This is 2020. Economic decline, death, and nasty political ads.

  11. Great point about Biden that’s being almost completely ignored:

“ The problem with defending due process in a case like Biden’s with respect to Tara Reade is that Biden himself, when it comes to allegations of sexual abuse and harassment, doesn’t believe in it. Perhaps in part to atone for his shabby treatment of Anita Hill, Biden was especially prominent in the Obama administration’s overhaul of Title IX treatment of claims of sexual discrimination and harassment on campus. You can listen to Biden’s strident speeches and rhetoric on this question and find not a single smidgen of concern with the rights of the accused. Men in college were to be regarded as guilty before being proven innocent, and stripped of basic rights in their self-defense……

……. On Friday’s Morning Joe, Biden laid out a simple process for judging him: Listen respectfully to Tara Reade, and then check for facts that prove or disprove her specific claim. The objective truth, Biden argued, is what matters. I agree with him. But this was emphatically not the standard Biden favored when judging men in college. If Biden were a student, under Biden rules, Reade could file a claim of assault, and Biden would have no right to know the specifics, the evidence provided, who was charging him, who was a witness, and no right to question the accuser. Apply the Biden standard for Biden, have woke college administrators decide the issue in private, and he’s toast.

  12. OK, it took me until the very end of the ad to notice that the Trump Team had changed the onscreen identification to “Sleepy” Joe Biden and “Crooked” Hillary Clinton. I’ll be honest: there are aspects of Trump’s obnoxiousness that I really find amusing.

  14. Women should be belived unless they are accusing a biden or a clinton. 2020 democrat party campaign slogan! Stephen Colbert did a cartoon tonight on groper joe biden sexually assaulting Tara Reade Democrat party says everyone has to go with the titanic No life boats will be allowed! One state legislator has already had to resign (democrat) for saying tara reade wanted to be raped!

  15. Assuming Biden didn’t sexually assault Reide (I’d be surprised if he didn’t do what she originally alleged) here’s what he should have said:

“I stand by my previous statement about “believing women.” A woman who alleges a sexual assault should be listened to considerately and respectfully, with a presumptive benefit of the doubt that there is some factual basis for her accusation. This is necessary if victims of sexual assault are to feel safe opening up about a deeply traumatic experience.

Perhaps I should have added that someone under no such obligation to give a benefit of the doubt is the accused, possessing as he does information known only to himself and the accuser. As the accused in this case, I tell you unequivocally that what Ms. Reade alleges is fabrication. It never happened. I give her no benefit of the doubt because I have none.

People will draw conclusions based on their own assessment of my credibility and the accuser’s. I ask only that in reaching that judgment Ms Reade be accorded the same respect and consideration we owe all such accusers.”
